I honestly didn't know it was a fathers day (no google themed image to remind me like on mothers day, talk about discrimination), coincidentally I and my brother actually did something great for our father. We hooked up our old PC, which is still quite a machine by the way, to his brand new Panasonic TV, along with wireless keyboard and mouse we bought. Now he can watch movies and play video games (he's surprisingly good at PES for an old man =D) comfortably in his living room in front of a big ass TV, and surf the net of course... as soon as I teach him how to.

There's a google themed thing for today. I found it quite cute:

I won't lie, today is a bittersweet day for me. My dad passed back in October of 2010, so it's kind of weird for me. I honor his memory and reflect on the lessons he taught me, and the good times that we shared.
I'll always continue to honor him for what he's done for me, and for laying a lot of the groundwork for the person I am today.

I'll be honest. That day is more bitter than it is sweet. I have a father, but I can't say I like him very much. When his daughter needs to tell him how to run a family, there's something terribly wrong. I didn't call him today. He's the one that's been stressing the whole family out. Does that make me ignorant, quite possibly. My dad isn't exactly the model citizen. I envy those with good father figures. Fathers that actually do something with their lives. Help out the rest of their families for the betterment of others. Teach their kids a thing or two about life and love. I got a little bit of that maybe. But my dad.....stopped caring. The moment he stopped caring about things, other things took a turn for the worse. Does that mean I need to treat him like the man he should be treated as? Not in my opinion, no. Once he decides to smarten up, I'll treat him with respect. If someone disrespects my family/mother as he has, how can I respect him?
I don't have a father figure. I have a father who has run himself into the ground and has no means of escape. In a way, I feel bad for him, but he put himself there. I can only sympathize for so long.
I hope all of you people don't have to deal with this kind of father figure. I don't wish this on anyone else. To the fathers out there now, don't give up on your family as my dad has. I also hope that those with fathers did something for those fathers that deserve the love. Fathers need to be appreciated for the work that they do.
So again, happy father's day. Dad's deserve more credit than just the one day a year we set aside for them. Same goes for mothers really. I just wasn't around to make a thread about it.
Don't feel bad for me. I ask you that much. I have been dealing with it my whole life. I gave my dad a chance, and I know he loves me, but his actions prove otherwise....I just hope that one day, he'll smarten up.

@Xanatos: I actually didn't realize it was Father's Day today until Friday, more than halfway through June already it's craziness.
@Pete: He did a great job, I'm really sorry for your loss.
@Kyra: No worries, that sounds rough, girl. <3
I had to work today, and my dad's out of town right now on a road trip of sorts. He gets back next weekend, so we're gonna do something then. We'll probably go out for dinner and beer or something along those lines, I don't really know yet. I'm actually pretty close with him, but I don't see him very often; our schedules are different. I also called both of my grandfathers and sent them cards. Not very eventful, but yeah that was my father's day.

I lost my dad in 1996. I myself, was six years old. Fathers' Day kind of lost its lustre after that, but I do realise there's a lot of fathers who were and indeed are amazing people, who would do anything for their kids and they should be honoured. My dad was a brilliant man (of course I'd say that) who was loved by everyone who knew him - and remarkably was a white sheep of the family if that makes sense. I miss him a lot, but I'll never forget my old man. It's been time to move on for a while though.
It's not Father's Day until September in Australia. But I don't think that one day, is the only day to appreciate your father. If you have a good one that is.
I don't consider my father, my father. I won't go into it. So no Father's Day appreciation from me. But I will give a thanks to my step-dad, who has been there for me, my siblings and makes my mother happyI have great respect for any man, who is there for a child, regardless of whether they're biologically theirs or not.
Anyone can be a father, but it takes a good guy, to BE a father. If that makes sense. Lol.
Anyway, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all you papas out there
I realise I used the word father, 9 times. Sorry![]()

hahas, updated July 28th (oldie but goodie!):
*look around, later the date* uh... i think i come kind late lol...
but i was more with my son, expending some time on tumblr~
I got my dad a card which read that he had 3 fart passes and I wasn't allowed to complain about any of them, and I've ordered him seasons 1-5 of Dexter but they haven't come yet. I told him his gift was going to be late but it would be worth it. He said he really likes Dexter but he hasn't see the first couple of seasons and wishes he'd gotten into it sooner. So I decided to buy him the whole set! Top daughter!
I took my father out to eat along side my sister, her husband, their kids, my grandmother and my kids. Was nothing to big or fancy just good ole family fun.
As for myself I spent the time before then at the park with the kids and let them run wild for a while. After the lunch we came back home and went about our day as if it was any other day haha.

My dad is a grumpy ol bastard like me so I guess I owe him that much haha.
I love the joke of a Mother and Father debating on what traits they have passed onto their child any way the mother pipes up and says "Yeah well he has my brains" and the Father says "Well he must, because I still have mine"
^Thought I would leave you with a lame dad joke![]()
