Final Fantasy has more variety of monsters than any other game i seen in years. Monsters come in all sizes like blobs, birds, robots, gods, cactuses, turtles, worms, giant octopus's the list goes on.
My question for you is what is your favorite monsters in the history of Final Fantasy?
My favorite monster is Hell House from FF7, its that crazy demon-like house that you fight in the slums.
My favorite monster to fight is the Grand Dragon in FFIX. I was able to defeat those in Disk 1, and train my party to like level 45. It was amazing, allowed me to breeze through the boring parts haha.

I like any monster that calls for help which provides you with exp for each excess monster you defeat.
My other favorite would be the dinosaur creatures that were features in FFVI and VIII, if they're in any other FFs correct me.

oh the lord loves a good lol. what else than the best of the best when it comes to final fantasy monsters. The mighty Imp from FF1. find me anything that a horde of these creatures can not take down.
I liked facing the Cactuars in almost all of the FF's. From the incredibly easy ones in FFVIII to the more challenging ones in FFXIII.

FF1- Crazy horses look cool for the first game
FF2- Iron Giants were cool, though rare
FF3- the dragons in the last tower, hard to find but eh
FF4- Proto-Babil was cool... and a Biatch
FF5- Shinryu looked awesome
FF6- Kaiser dragon and Omega looked so damn powerful
FF7- Midgar solom, beat him at first encounter do to poison trick lol
FF8- Ruby dragon and behemoths
FF9- Grand Dragon, somebody already hinted at the leveling up trick lol
FFX- Sacred Guardian thingy, the beast you fight before Zanarkand, he looked so damn powerful, Paragon and penance are notables as well
FF12- Any ring wyrms are cool.
FF13- None worth mentioning...>.> .. .. .. .. .. Maybe the centurions but eh

I was a pretty big fan of the crazy horses in FF1.
The Behemoth's in the FF games are never a let down for me. I always enjoy a good battle against one of these bad asses.
My favorites tend to be the monsters that appeared in most of the games, like Tonberries and Cactaurs.

not many people dig 12, but i loved fighting the dinosaurs. you just cant help but love to see your saurian grow as it eats other monsters, then get the chance to slaughter it.

Cactuars, Bombs, Goblins, Ahrimans and Wolf/Dog type monsters are my fav.
Hehehe, my favorite monsters would have to be Tonberrys and all sorts of skelotons.
I like the thought of a skeloton once being some kind of nobel hero or warrior or mayhap just a soldier from some forgoten kingdom. I like the fact that my enemy has some history behind him, Y'know?
I like tonberrys just because they are amazing creatures...that's it. I always thought it would be cool to have an army of tonberry servants. (A man can dream, right?)
Anyway, originally I was gona say my favorite enemies are other humans. (Imperials on FFXII, Soldier Members on FFVII, Temple Warriors from FFX) I like the thought of fighting enemies that are equal to me in every way. They think like I do, the fight with similar weapons, we're both human, right? I don't really know how to explain further, I just liked fighting other people.

It was always Behemoth before FFX, in FFXII they totally ruined him.
But XIII redeemed him somewhat.
Other than that probably Cactuar or Tonberry

Tell me you don't cuss out loud the first time you accidentally wander into one of those and aren't prepared for it each game. Silence, Petrify, Poison, Confusion, Slow, Doom, and every other status you can think of hits you before you can even select a move. Then you get to watch as your party slowly dies, and you pray so hard that just maybe one character will be available to heal with, and cast defensive magic, but deep down you know that you can't do a think about it other than wonder when the last time you saved was. IT'S GLORIOUSLY AWFUL!!!!!!!

My favourite monster has to be the Oretoises (Long-Gui, Shaolong Gui, Adamantortoise etc) from XIII.
Without using Vanille's Death spam, and without using any summons, is probably the most fun fight in all the series.

My favorite monster is a Malboro. The way they use "Bad Breath" to debilitate the party is truly amazing. I like them in X and XII the best. In X they were massive, which also describe their power. And in XII, they looked rather cute, for a thing that wants to kill you.
Also, I have never defeated one, but I love the Yans in IX. To have that much power in such a little body...It is a scary thing indeed.

FFVIII - T-Rex. I always loved dinos!
FFX - Don Tonberry. So hard, but funny after a time. Also like 'cause of the AP glitch
FFVII - Ultimate Weapon. Honestly I felt sorry for him after I killed him. He doesn't even made any seriously 'bad' thing. He just...flying. He loved flying.
Also liked Sephiroth's heavily solarium'd last form
FFIX - I'm playing this game first time in my life in these days, I'm only heading for Burmecia yet. So far, I liked Black Waltz No. 3. His madness reminds me of Sephiroth. "I exist only to kill, I exist only to kill!!"

Quite few actually, Malboro, and Behemoth in particular. As the series evolved neither one went through some serious change, their design looks great, and you always know what to expect. I usually run away from Malboros, nasty ones that is who are capable of dealing some serious status aliments, Behemoth on the other hand never was challenging, except for improved one who can dish some serious counter attacks, usually in a form of meteor.
Omega Weapon, out of more challenging ones, Final Fantasy VIII version was by far the best one. He was a huge letdown in X though.

Tomberries are tough, impressive monsters, worth any player's respect.
Behemots are also very tough.
