Halo: Reach

After getting a taste of the beta back in May (and by that I mean crunching in 200+ games in less than a week lol), I've been fiending this game since the beta period was over and I want to play this game so bad that I can't even describe it. Anyone else gonna be out there in the craziness waiting for the game to release at midnight like I am?

Also if any of you haven't already added me on Live, feel free to do that so we can run gamessssss. I want to have at least 250ish games played by the weekend so let's gooooooooo.

i never really liked halo, i thought the second one was good for what it was, a great online experience. but i still thought it was overrated. i cant say im too excited for this really. i am looking foward to bungies newer projects, whatever they may be.

I am extremely excited about this game. I didn't personally play the beta, but I saw my buddy play it and it looked sick as hell. I will be lookin you online soon rocky

I've heard nothing but good things about Bungie's swan-song. I've personally never been a Halo fan, but I can't but respect the franchise and Bungie itself for creating what I understand to be a worthy send off to their Halo. We'll see what 343 can do afterwards.

I played a little and was disappointed. (Then again I've felt the same for most universally acclaimed shooters of late). But I didn't play much, and I didn't play with my mates. That'll be what makes or breaks the game for me. If me and my mates can screw around as much as we could with Halo 3 I'll love it, if not, my opinion will likely stay the same.

The silver 360 is awesome though. I grabbed a couple solely for the colour scheme.

Everybody I know who hared Halo prior to Reach loves Reach. I dunno, the game changed a lot and for the better in my opinion.

I am officially going to be a Halo Reach Widow as of tonight. He's picking it up and will play the shit out of it for MONTHS I tell you... MONTHS!!!

I suck at shooters too, although I hear the co op is pretty awesome. I may/may not try.

I've always been mixed about Halo. I love playing multiplayer with friends and the campaign, but sometimes the online multiplayer drives me up a wall. It's almost like a totally different breed of gamer than the Modern Warfare geeks, but somehow worse. I guess I'll see how this goes.

So I have started the campaign. I must say it is absolutely amazing. I haven't gotten around to playing Online. I will probably do it sometime this weekend.

For lack of something better to do I picked it up myself. Generally I don't like shooters with the exception of Borderlands and even that's questionable with being a "shooter". Anyhoo its okay, I guess.

I officially SUCK at it though. I got the first achievement for getting through the first part (aren't I awesome at explaining things??? ) and one for killing things with a certain weapon. But because I suck at it I don't know what weapon I got it with.

Ok, Multiplayer is officially off the wall awesome when playing with friends.
Ain't game enough to go near XBL though, the kids scare me.
Oh and as a mate found out, you're screwed if you get a new Slim with 4gb internal memory. It literally won't let you play.

It's the small things that set this one ahead when I think about it.
I'm feeling I might have another Tribes 2 on my hands...

First Halo game i have ever wanted to own and when i do the XBL kids will be singing songs of woe too themselves, assuming im good at it of course. Does the game still have the same fidgety controls??

I got it right after class, but I haven't played it yet because I'm stumped with college homework. I can't wait to start my 360 up this weekend! I've heard and read nothing but good things about this game. I'm stoked!

I've only done the first mission on Heroic so far. Here in a little bit, I'll be heading back into Campaign mode.

I've spent the past couple of days doing Arena mode (ranked play) with some of my co-workers. They're much better at this than I am, but they're also the ones who play all of the console FPS titles. I'm more of a PC guy when it comes to shooting things in the face, but I'm getting a much better handle on the controller lately. All the same, we're averaging a little over 60% wins right now.

Firefight mode is a MUST for anyone who needs target practice. Go ahead, try it on Legendary. Try not to die. I dare you.

Invasion mode is fun, but defending in the first round is tough when you're up against good players. Firefight Matchmaking always brings some interesting results... usually a win, but not always. 4v4 Team Battle is a total classic, but it's always best when you play with people you know. I also like the multi-team battle. Depending upon my partner, we usually finish in the middle. I haven't gotten a win on that one yet.

I've yet to do free-for-all. I'm typically a giant target in those modes...

I never played any of the games all the way through, and never played the story mode on the first one, but the previews for Reach I've seen really make me want to play through all 3 Halo games before it comes out. It was never my favorite series of games, but I enjoyed the story, and the gameplay was pretty fun in Halo 2, so I have high hopes for Halo: Reach.

o rly? my teammate ended up buying the new slim 4gb just this Friday and has been playing it ever since with no problems? Must be a faulty box your friend got or something, sorry to hear that.

Anyways, 5/6 days, a Warrant Officer Grade 3, and 250 games later, I like it! My gamebattles team is also officially 4-1 right now The arena has been pretty fun and I ended up pulling an allnighter and playing till 10am the next day just to get my rank up, I've been around 1620 average. It was easier in the beta because as the formula is currently, your elo rank is your kills + assists - deaths with a certain weighted factor on each, and assists were a hell of a lot easier to get in the Beta (which I averaged 1700+ a day), but now they upped the damage you have to do to get an assist, but w/e its all good lol.

I have mixed feelings about the DMR bloom spread atm. On one hand I like it because it adds a competitive feeling and a skill gap to the game, which I can appreciate, but at the same time I just feel frustrated at times when I get outshot because I was taking my time with my shots while the other guy was spamming the trigger. =|

The melee system is wierd too, its like sometimes I can beat people down and get kills when they have shields, sometimes I put 4 shots and beat someone down and dont get a kill, sometimes we trade beatdown kills, sometimes we parry eachother out and get stunned, and who knows wtf else. It just seems too random for me at this point. Oh well maybe once I put more time into the game I can get it figured out.

Also I need to add you guys so I can get campaign beat. I won't get it beaten unless I find some people that are actually entertaining enough to help me through that part, I'm too ADHD lol.

It's not a faulty Xbox. The problem only applies to co-op though. When playing co-op, an actual hard drive is required and memory units/USB stick don't count. Here's confirmation. There's apparently also some disc read issues popping up, but that's beside the point.

Anywho, I've played about four fifths of the way through the campaign at a buddy's house and it's good, but I still don't get what makes Halo so much more popular than other shooters. I suppose I don't have the same vested interested as others as I've barely played the other games (and that I don't play multiplayer), but taking Reach in a vacuum, it more or less felt like just another shooter to me, albeit one that doesn't let me aim down the sights (I hate not being able to do that). It was good, don't get me wrong, but I've done it all before.

This. Co-op is one of the modes we play the most here. Especially in games when we can sabotage each other. I have fond memories of past Halo where shooting one of the people near you while your mate was in the thick of them would send them all hostile with much cursing...

It's part of why I love Halo. Just not single player or online multi.
