To be honest I've never succeeded to be a king of a jump rope but I can tell you for sure it doesn't serve any other purpose than recognition that you've managed to do a 1000 jumps, at least that's what I read in walkthrough. I've played this game a long ago so I'm not sure about the chocobo's lagoon but if I remember correctly you have access to it only when you obtain an airship so you can land with it on a near island and call your blue chocobo to reach the chocobo lagoon.
Edit: And next time when you have a question like this don't make a thread just post it in FF IX Helpline Thread.

I never bothered to try jumping the rope that many times because that key item is not worth anything. I don't even think it affects your treasure hunter rating.
No, grabbing the "King of Jump Ropes" key item doesn't add to your Treasure Rating.
You can grab some nifty cards in the first few hundred or so, but soon afterward it's more a chore than anything else. If you want 100% completion, it's something you might wanna grab, but otherwise, I don't think it's that important, besides bragging rights. Or lack thereof. =D

Same here i haven't played the game in ages but im looking into the emulator so i can again. The best reason i can come up with from what i recall is if you want to play the card game throughout the game you do want to complete the "King Of Jump Ropes" if not it is not worth it.
most i ever got was around 155 its hard trying to focus my eyes on small jumping black mage on a small 14 inch screen.
Clocked The Game But i didnt bother getting it but i got the secret ending with cinnas hammer and save the queen
well at least its ohkay...

The most i got is 350 but dude 1000 is way too much crazyness.
Doesn't matter cuz you still can't master the game w/ Excalibur II and get everything else,so why bother.
That's the only bad thing about this game,it's impossible to master.
