Chocobo Digest - Looking for staff members

Ok, so as of right now I am opening this thread up to see who is interested in becoming a staff member for the Digest.

We currently have a few openings for Local Article Writers, 3 to be exact and a classified writer.

There are a few requirements to keep in mind:

-Must be willing to put out high quality articles
-Must have a decent amount of knowledge on the FF universe
-Must be willing to / be able to hit dead lines
-Must be a fairly active member of TFF

Now these are not all of the requirements and just because you post in this thread does NOT gaurentee automatic acceptance into the Digest.

We (the staff) will review all applicants and the best amongst those applicants will be chosen to fill the open slots.

If you are interested feel free to post in this thread or if you want to keep it a little more private feel free to PM me. Keep in mind that if you choose to keep it private that all of the staff members will be able to see your application.

To apply simply answer the following:

Why do you think you will be a good addition to the team?

How many FFs have you played? (Please list all)

Are you willing to do the necessary research to produce top quality articles?

If there is insufficient information on an article how do you plan on filling in the gaps?

And lastly I am requiring you to submit a test article. The requirements are as follows.

-The body of the article must be about Cecils banishment from Baron and the Red Wings in FFIV
-The minimum amount of words to be used is 80
-You must provide your article with a name and a sub-title
The rest of the article is up to you, but it must stay linear to the actual story line of FFIV.

If the article is good enough it might make it into the actual Digest as a real article.

Seeing we are big on dead lines I am setting a dead line of Midnight (central time) on the 1st of July, 2009 for all applicants to have their applications to be submited.

You neglected to explain what a Local Article Writer is. So I'll fill interested parties in. Local Article Writer is a title created, all fancy sounding all for those writers that provide the bulk of the articles for the digest. The reason I picked it is simply enough when you look at what they do.

Those making these articles are writing from the point of view that they are reporters within a specific FF world. They write as though they are a local newspaper reporter accounting the details of something that is occurring in the world of that FF game, usually something that the heroes or villains are doing.

The idea is that the digest isn't writing these, but is grabbing them up from the different worlds picking out interesting articles. Thus Local Article Writer. So keep that in mind when you are interested in the position. Naturally, as you have read they can be serious, satire or humorous depending on the mood.

Hmm... I'm interested. It sounds like fun and a good way to get the creative juices flowing... Haha, but what happens if... you know. Someone screws up... :S

Not that I would screw up on a deadline, but what would happen anyway, regardless of who it was?

I guess I'm a friendly member of the TFF community, who would like to get more involved in with activities and jobs on the forums. I'm pretty good at meeting a deadline - very rare I've ever asked for an extension on coursework or other things I get up to both online and in the active world.

Final Fantasy I (Not completed).
Final Fantasy VII (Completed - expert).
Final Fantasy VIII (Almost completed - expert on story).
Final Fantasy X (Completed - expert on story).
Final Fantasy X-2 (Not completed).

But of course! I've only played the above Final Fantasy games, so I can imagine I'd need to either get the games I have yet to play, or take a few hours out to read about them here on the forums or on other sites. Besides, being passionate about Final Fantasy will help - if it's on/ about something you enjoy, research becomes a hobby.

If there is insufficient information on an article how do you plan on filling in the gaps? Going over it multiple times, check my notes I picked up during the research, and add in as much as I possibly can to make up for the gaps. I could also re-do the article, if you feel the whole thing is more than a tad on the gap side. If the worst comes to the worst, and I have to write something on a Final Fantasy game I've not played and my research is more gappy than the article, I'll ask someone who knows the ins and outs of the game or guidance.

I'll PM the article to Meier as soon as I can - I have to... research the game. ^^;;

Ok we are sitting at less then 5 days and counting, all applications must be turned in by the dead line time given in the OP.

Ok sorry for the bump on this post but I just wanted to make it aware that we are currently looking for staff once again. Please read the OP and Andro's post following it.

Dead lines have been updated on the OP and also Current new openings have been added.
