Square Enix reports that the third party server hosting its official online store may have been compromised. According to the official notice that comes up on the store's landing page, they are still assessing the extent of the potential breach.
The server in question, according to the notice, does not store financial data but does have other personal data stored on it, such as names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. Although it doesn't have any credit card data stored on it, they are encouraging customers to monitor their credit card activity as a precaution.
Due to this, the online store has suspended operation temporarily.
Square Enix has promised to release more details "as soon as possible". So far, there is no further information available at this time.
