Who dies first?

I was pondering the terrible thought of old age with my partner, in the sense that one of us has to die first. If there was a choice, I dont know what Id want to happen. If she goes first, I live out the rest of my days in mourning of the women I spent the majority of my life with, alone and cold in some nursing home. Just waiting for death. On the other hand, If I died first I could avoid all of that, but I leave her with the same burden.

If you had a choice, would you save your partner the pain of leaving her by allowing her to die first, or vise versa?

Heh, I see I'm not the only one who failed to light bulb. Speaking of which, can the same mod that fixes this thread, fix my last 6? >.>

Anyway, losing some one I love would be awful, but I would hope to die second, just so they don't have to feel the same pain.

I'd rather suffer without him than have him suffer because of my death. My boyfriend, David, is a big ol' softie, and I know the event of me coming to harm or my death would completely destroy him. Heck, it'd destroy me, but you never know what the future will hold; we could have a good family, supportive enough to guide us through the loss of one another.

I'd like to think we'd both die together whilst cuddled up in our sleep, knowing that we've both lead a good life and that everything will be fine if we were to depart the living. If you've ever seen The Notebook, that part gets me every time. Just thinking about the topic can get me, haha. ._.

Well this is a stupid question. I'm 82, and my wife is 47. I'm pretty sure I'm going to outlive her. There's no hypothetical involved.

Anyway, so she dies first. I'll be upset for a while, due to all the mourning my daughter and my wife's family are doing, but after they get over it, and forget about Dina, then I can finally show them some Flim-Flam, kick those freeloaders out of my house and find a new bitch to bang.

I'm with Unknown Entity on the Notebook reference, not gonna lie. I honestly don't know if I could choose to be honest, so I'll just say I'd prefer dying together? Not realistic, but I can't say I want to give it too much thought. >.>

I'd rather outlive her. I'm far less emotional, so between the two of us, I'd likely feel less pain at the loss. Unfortunately, with my health problems, she'll probably outlive me.

Ill never know how it ends up because I will be stricken with alsheimers on top of heart failure and cancer. All I will know is a five minute window inwhich I have always been as I am and am already suffering a miserable death.

If I had to pick, I'd want her to go first. She's going to fall to ****ing pieces when I die, but I'm pretty sure I'd be able to handle it better.

More than likely, though, I'm going to die first. At least, that's my guess.

Not worth worrying about. I'm 26, she's 21. Still got decades to go.

It's not about allowing someone to die. It's about who out of you and your partner would you rather outlive the other, knowing whoever it is will be left to mourn you, and experience the pain of loosing a loved one.

Unless you're a gold digging whore. You'd do everything you could to "allow" your sugar daddy to die.

My goal is to find a significantly older sexually charged cougar with loads of money that i can be a boytoy for until she passes away, at which point i return the favor to society by finding myself a young blossoming twenty-something that just wants money and funtimes. My life will kind of be based off the movie Pay it Forward, just with more sexytime.

I'm going to vote for me on this one. Despite the idea of them going through some insufferable pain of being left alone. I think I'm much rather give my signig other the longer opportunity to experience life. Whether in old age or not ya know. If it came down to it at least I think that giving them the longer life is the more gentlemanly thing to do right? I mean compared to having their existence end and such.

To be honest, I don't think I care much for it. Of course I don't want my partner to suffer (and I surely don't want to suffer either!), but I'll be fne with what comes. I'm older than him, so we may have the "chance" to die together. That WOULD be the best option, of course. BUT: I wouldn't mind either way, as long as we both die old. (!) My heart (and soul) would break if he died young. And so would his. :/

I've been having serious doubts lately as to if I'll ever get married or at the very least feel the emotion "love" again. After a dozen of really bad relationships, I honestly don't even have the will to go out and find a girl anymore.

Though I suppose if I did, I would prefer they go first. I'm not a very emotional person, I can be, but not usually.

I would have to go first. He'd be sad of course and he'd miss me... but outta the two of us he's the survivor and would make it far better than I would without him. LOL!
