Eco-friendly cases.

What is the real use of these eco friendly cases? They look really flimsy to me. I've already broken 2 or 3 of them, I can't trust them to defend any of my games, and I end up putting the disks somewhere else, thereby rendering these eco-friendlys rather useless. Do they make the games cheaper for the consumer or something?

I hate those new cases they have now for movies (haven't seen any games in them yet, though). As far as I know, most people keep the cases to their movies and games. I don't really think there was a need for making these "eco-friendly" cases.

I don't think they're biodegradable or anything where they'd melt into a puddle of soy after a few years or however that process works; they're just a slightly thinner plastic case with the cutouts. I'm sure it reduced the amount of plastic used, which is a nice little way of going green. Chances are, the companies who make the cases got a huge amount of tax credits for using less plastic, recycling and using less energy.

I don't have an issue with them because my games are still protected and free of damage. I don't think I've had one of the new cases break on me either, but then again, all of my games and movies just go on my shelves.

I've never come across any cases like those, although I haven't bought a new game since they stopped making them for the ps2. I wouldn't really trust them to hold dvds or games if they were made of thinner materials, then again I never leave my games lying around where they can get trod on or otherwise damaged, so I guess i'll just stick to the less eco friendly kind. They aren't going to get thrown away or anything any time soon so it's no biggie to me.

How much do you throw your cases around? I mean, if you just put them on your shelf and take them out occasionally, you don't really need a lot of plastic. It's kind of wasteful as it currently stands, and I'm yet to see one of these cases. I'd certainly prefer one.

I don't throw - you know what? Never mind, I'm not going to go into the whole little brother thing right now. Suffice it to say, cases get opened and closed on a regular basis. That IS to be expected, am I correct? Thank you.
Now, the cases in question have exhibited shameful cracking and splitting along their delicate spines. That, and the top ridges easily collapse, leaving your game open to whatever liquids your brothers happen to consume. Finally, while holding the thing for closer inspection, the game manual clip has fallen out, leaving me with a surprised, bewildered expression on my countenance that cannot be better described than if someone's tooth had fallen out (by itself, note) before my very tired eyes. Reluctantly, and pardon the pun, I arrest my case.

For little brother purposes. These definitely won't hold up.
But for the more mature audience, they work just as well as any other case.

I think I've actually seen a few Xbox 360 cases like that.

I have noticed that the eco-friendly cases I get around here it is a bitch to get my games out of them. I had a rage moment when I bought Gears of War 3, and went to get it out for the first time. The things in the middle wasn't going down all the way so I applied a bit more pressure while trying not to do to much. Finally it gave in. But it cracked my damn disc. I have had this happen with three other games. Maybe I just suck, but I blame the cases.
