Things in video games that amuse you.

So what amuses you in games? What makes you crack up? What makes you smile whenever you see it? Etc, etc, etc...

I always found the fact that you could die from getting slapped in MGS1 funny. Have low enough health and hit Meryl. She'll pay you back and you'll actually die from it.

Also, the cardboard box. My friends always want me to play the port of the original MG on my phone just so they can see a little cardboard box moving around on the screen...

FFIX has tons of them and I love it for that. One that I remember would be Zidane finding a book in the Dali Inn about methods of getting tons of Gil, his comment on it being, "These books suck."

Maybe I find it amusing because of all the all the Ads I see on the net... "CONGRATULATIONS YOU ARE THE 100TH VIEWER CLICK HERE AND GET $10000" or some random crap.

The thing that amuses me most is something the Disgaea series have in them: reference to elements of the gameplay itself. For example, in Disgaea, somehow the level of characters (which is usually excluded from the plot) is mentioned and act as part of the story. When Laharl sees Baal's level, he goes, "You've gotta be kidding me! Level 4,000?!" And in Disgaea 2 when Etna's level plummets, that gets mentioned as well. Also, I remember it being in the bonus dungeon in Star Ocean 3 where the party defeats a former boss and comments on how they couldn't have beaten him had he been that strong in the main story. Still, that was an extra dungeon; Disgaea incorporated level references into their main plot. Hahaha, that whole series amused me.

Depends on what game I'm playing if I find something amusing or not.

If I play Animal Crossing, I like to plant pitfall seeds and watch the townsfolk fall into them. Haha! They struggle to get out and I think it's funny. Also, again in Animal Crossing, I like to run around and whack people/townies in the head with my bug net.

Yeah, I was a jerk.

You can mess with the NPCs in Okami too. Lots of fun to be had doing that. You can use your wind powers to knock people over. You can paint ink on people. You can torch things, dowse things, and cut things and leave the people confused as to what just happened. On the more physical side of things, you can bite and drag people around, bash into them and bark like crazy at stuff. Nothing really happens when you bark at people, but if you bark at other animals, it scares them.

One more thing about Okami that's really funny. If you learn Golden Fury, you can pee on your enemies. Also, Brown Rage makes Ammy leave a pile of poo on the field and it explodes.

Ahhh... Toilet humor.

Some games have funny dialogue than makes me laugh. I'm playing Super Mario RPG again, and I got to Tadpole Pond.

When Mallow finds out he's not a tadpole, but it's so blatantly obvious that he's not one from the very beginning when you meet him, but he still thought he was. I laugh about that every time.

There's a lot of funny in that game.

There's a lot more games that I like that have funny moments, but I'll just leave it at that.

Seriously, when a video game starts revolving around one NPC for the entire time, you can't stop thinking about it. Flay's just a minor character as a teacher, but he's some kind of ninja-hero-villian-defender of justice... It makes you think he ISN'T a minor character, but not a main one, either. =_=

Spoiler: He turned a fight into a school play during an orientation, forced his students to work hard (or they'll lose their life), manipulated a student's mind, talked a monster into fighting the students to the death, raised chaos for a school festival, made a clone of another teacher, got a huge monster to destroy the school, and fought against everyone in the graduation ceremony....

The story says they had a decline in "quality teachers", but this is ridiculous.

The one thing that amuses me: Characters that aren't playable, but gets involved more than main characters. xD




Oh, and indestructable objects, such as rolling rocks, soccer balls, and glass.

For some reason I always crack up in FFVI when in the Emperors Palace and you "use" the toilet. the flushing sound KILLS ME.

I think it was MGS2 (one of them at any rate), but what made me laugh was that Snake could trip and fall on birdshit. Never had I seen such a level of detail in a game. And Engrish is always worth some cheap laughs from me...

Oh, yes. I always lol'ed when I'd attempt to roll up/down the stairs in the Tanker mission and Snake would trip. And naked cartwheeling Raiden.

I remember when my dad let me play Duke Nukem 3D on our Macintosh Quadra back in like 2002. I was like 5 and you can go to the toilet and press spacebar. His gun goes off the screen and he pees and say Ahh much better.
I would play the first episode over just for the toilets. Its been for ever but I remember the first level being like part street and some food place with a movie machine up stairs or something.

I remember in A Link to the Past I attacked the chickens so much they all flew after me and I was trying to run away into a house and the SNES froze. >.< I was so scared I thought I broke it! It was amusing later though.

Oh my gosh, Little Big Planet is the most amusing game ever. I'll spend at least 30 min. making faces at the camera with my little sock dude. There's so much fun stuff in that game like dressing him up is a game all in itself.

I remember another amusing part in a game is in paper mario where you fall off the deck to get the hammer. He stands there with his finger on his chin thinking. Where is the balcony? and then he falls like a piece of paper. Its sooo cute!

Loool, I remember my sister showing me this game once. It's not an actual game, just a clone of the original Mario game, but it's ridiculous as hell in that anything can be a trap. Looks like it's one of those trial and error type of games. And from what I saw, the player is going to do a lot of errors before they even make it to the finish!

Best part was when the player got trapped in an area because invisible coin boxes kept him/her from getting out, and the only way was to fall in a hole and kill off a life.

Haha... At the end the player was at -23 lives.... Holy cow... I would have got frustrated loooong before that!

Anyways.... the things I find pretty amusing in videogames would be all the online FPS experiences like shooting someone down when they least expect it especially if they're just standing there XD. I also find stuff humorous in RPG stuff like EarthBound and the Final Fantasy games. Final Fantasy V is the funniest one of the series as far as I know. Playing through Metal Gear games can be funny experiences too especially when you get caught by a guard in MGS1 and they're just chasing you in circles. That happened to me in the helipad area of MGS1 and this one guard chased me around the helipad and eventually I got away after going around in circles.

I love all of Alistairs lines in Dragon Age. Seriously. Not only do I squeal at Steve Valentines voice (faaaaark, it's hawt), everything he says is cute and funny. <3

I find the music in Fallout 3 slightly amusing too. Not only did the bombs drop in 2077, but the music is from my nan's days. Wat, no Fiddy? All joking aside, the game has some serious elements, live war and survival, yet to me the music seems cheery. I guess two hundred years have past so people aren't emoish any more, and are looking towards the brighter side.

I like finding little secrets or Easter Eggs too. MGS was full of them, from finding hidden pictures of half naked Asian chicks to frogs, and from the funny Snake and Eva shadows (*giggles*) to Raiden bare bottom.

Does it make me sad if I say I like the music in The Sims? I find it catchy. I also like the social gestures you can make people do. Like Waahoo!. xD

I thought the deal was that American culture stalled in the 1950s, so the style of music hasn't changed. Which is kind of absurd, but meh. It's not that it went 'emosish' and then became cherry again - it just never changed.

In saying that, the little radio thing going on was perhaps the only redeeming feature of that game. No, scratch that, being able to tell the Overseer's daughter to "**** off" was amazing.

Sexually confusing Volgin in MGS:Snake Eater by putting on the raiden mask is pretty amusing. Or on the tanker in MGS 2 starting an alert by making snakes hand rub over the sensitive area of the woman in the poster on the locker door. MGS has no shortage of these moments.

The Metal Gear Solid games had many things that amused me, haha. There's one in particular in Snake Eater when you find yourself in a cave with Eva, and depending on how things went before you got there, she'd fix you up. At this point the camera aims at the wall so you see the shadows, and it just looks wrong. So funny though. xD

The whole Wall Market part of Final Fantasy VII amused me, mainly because I'd played through it when I was younger and didn't quite understand what was going on - when I was older, I understood why my mum had made a couple of "WTF?" faces when she watched me play.

The Sims games never fail to amuse me. I get creative with just about everything, so I've built some really cool houses and crap. The latest thing that had me almost crying with laughter was watching my pregnant sim dance with her husband. I then went on a hunt for another pregnant sim, because I'd remembered seeing one in town, and I invited her over for a dance and found that even more funny. ^^;

LittleBIGPlanet... well, it's hard to have difficulty not amusing yourself in that one. Especially if you're with friends. Sure, dragging your friends around and slapping them about (and vice versa) gets dull after a while, but it's funny.

Finally, Dragon Age. Just talking with Alistair makes my heart light up - the stuff he comes out with! WHY CAN'T THERE BE PEOPLE LIKE HIM IN REAL LIFE?!

In arc rise fantasia a couple of things: rydia being so oblivious, l'arc being so kind and easily flustered despite being extremely similar to cloud, leslie's flirting, and cecille beating the crap out of niko with a single punch
