I totally thought this was going to be a thread for general madness. As far as intraforum madness, it could just be that this is a stressful time of year for a lot of people. A lot of people are trying to balance home, work, and travel, not to mention internet, so I'm sure there's a lot of tension going on in a lot of places.

I wouldn't say that if people on the forum are mad about things that it is necessarily related to the forum, rather than that the forum might be a catalyst of sorts, sparking the tension already there.

Just a thought.

If you are referring to the alleged Merlin vs Pete and Rocky mess that certain people are brewing up... I find the whole thing preposterous. I've had my fair share of arch-nemesis-es over the years, and neither one of those individuals qualify for that role. So what, we argue about some topics. Silver used to ride my ass all the time (and justly so) and I harbor no ill will towards him either. My true arch-nemesis shall always be OG. I have yet to see anyone take a real crack at trumping that one, or GI-Jew for that matter. ^_^

Personally, I think that the whole thing is blown out of proportion. People have heated debates. We can't agree on everything.

EDIT: Well I suppose if we are going to be completely forthcoming, if I were mad at anyone, I guess it would have to be the staff members who keep dredging up stuff I did 3+ years ago and acting like it happened yesterday. But honestly, I can't be mad at them either. I did some bad stuff in the past and I'm working hard to put that behind me. It's just hard when staffers keep shoving it down my throat every time they have a chance. I think it is a bit uncalled for. That's my peace anyway.

I'm not mad. A little annoyed, maybe. I see people taking shots at each other, and *possibly* me, and I try to ignore it, or make some stupid come back or try to say something to defuse the issue in response. And sometimes, I step into things and say something because I feel it needs to be said, and maybe nobody else is going to say it, otherwise. People can choose to interpret these responses of mine as they wish. Really though, I try not to care too much anymore, because whenever I do care, it's rarely anything but trouble as a result.

Really though, there are many strong personalities around this place, and people don't always agree with each other. And over time, I think resentment and baggage builds up between people. And I think there's a lot of it around here at TFF. I mean, some people have been here for years, butting heads time and again with the same people (not saying it happens a lot, but it probably happens enough.) Things can be mended, but when the next thing happens, I'll bet it brings back memories of those "old wounds."

Or maybe that's a bunch of crap. Anyhoo...

If perchance you're referring to any of my recent actions, I can assure you madness plays no part. Though I have noticed some members are pointing the finger at members who aren't in any plots or anything merely for association or because they shared an opinion.

Merlin, I've come to respect you as one of the better members here of late and with all the crap you've taken, both the possibly justifiable kind and the more common completely unwarranted kind, I am surprised (in a good way) you're still so eager to improve the place. Much respect.

Telegraph, if anyone is shit talking about you, let me know. It irks me when good people are targetted instead of the ones who have made ill intentions clear. As I said in my journal which not everyone would likely have read, if there's anyone you're unsure of, ask on MSN. The group I roll with are forthcoming with the truth when not in a situation that could jeopardise our efforts to make TFF as great a place as it once was.

And don't try to demonise group action, the group I'm in plans to dissolve after doing it's thing so we don't become another pack of idiots like this place gets every so often.

People are very angry lately. At my work, online, everywhere. I would say the heat but that can't really mean much.

There are days where there's certain vibes go around, be it everyone is tired, or short tempered, or even just terrible drivers. So I guess it's the theme of the summer. I'm as cool as ever but people have even tried to get on me here about things. And I don't even post much anymore. I think some people are inherently or bitchy. Plenty of people like that out there, and then take shitty jobs with the economy and you have some straight psychos.

I only have the attention span for forum drama for so long anymore before I put myself in a behind the scenes role for a while. I have been concerned and wondering how I could help ameliorate the situation, but uh.... the forum gets less fun when people are taking shots at each other (WHAT?!?!), and when it gets less fun, I get less posty. So that's why I've been irritated with this forum. How can I increase my online ego when I can't raise my post count?

To be honest, I'm actually starting to empathise.
I mean it is actually kind of fun trying to be an asshole but flying under the radar or coming up with some other tactic to get something mean-spirited across.
Not for the people targeted of course, but for the people doing it I mean.

And you know, I kind of hate myself for enjoying it and find great amusement in seeing a definite reaction and feedback suggesting people are 'ignoring it'.

I'm mad with the way certain people have composed themselves in the last few days/weeks. You know, I agree that everyone has their up and down days, but this feels like it dragged on for weeks. It's difficult to not feel the tension between particular members here, and it's absolutely ridiculous.

And we're trying to attract new members?

This sort of drama starts off amusing because I don't care, I'll admit, but there's always someone who'll bring it up on another day and re-light old fires. Then it just gets boring, and us onlookers end up involved somehow. Be that by taking a side, or giving an opinion, jumping on the bandwagon, or giving a warning, or docking points in a GAME... there's always someone to cry about it.

Pointing the finger, bitching on msn, ganging up on msn, sly messages in sigs, obvious VMs in public view to stir trouble, delving out of TFF into Facebook, taking private things to use on here... everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves. I'm mean, seriously? You're probably thinking "Oh boo hoo, Entity didn't like something I did..." but I thought I'd let you know what a complete ass some of you have been. You know who you are.

I was honest. I flamed a little (use of the word "ass", but it wasn't directly put to a name), but I could have been a whole lot more honest.

Some people's idea of 'fun' revolves around others suffering.
Others might have the best intentions, yet either fail to act through their ties on the site or decide they'll do similar back, much as a vigilante would.

Sometimes playing nice and understanding or remaining oblivious doesn't do jack though so it might be better for some of the alternatives to be explored. If nothing works, at least a guy can say he tried.

I haven't exactly been very active, so if any kind of event has happened which pissed people off or whatever, I haven't a clue about it. So please, fill me in? Honestly, the only thing that pissed me off about the elimination game was when members who hadn't posted in MONTHS jumped in and started docking points. That's just ridiculous. I wouldn't have cared if every active member had jumped in to eliminate me, but when people like Zeromune and Flash post, it kind of screams shenanigans to me.

Zeromune didn't post for 2 months before coming to dock points.

That goes both ways. Some people live and die by their online social standing and are willing to do anything to boost it, including resurrecting inactive members(or borrowing their accounts) to dock points on people. I can understand if people got upset about it. Did that actually happen? I don't know.

As for me, I was surprised my name was even on there and I'd call shenanigans if I actually won, seeing as how I just got back and all.

Yeah, I know it's just a game, and because of that, it seemed that much more ridiculous that all of these inactive people came out of the woodwork. I mean I'm not even mad about it now, but at the time, it was just like "are you kidding me?"

And I always thought that was bullshit, when certain members would make their grand return around Thanksgiving, kiss a few asses, get a vote or two, and then disappear when voting was over with.

Perhaps tighter rules or boundaries should be put on these games and votes? It can be done, but it could get hard to moderate. Also, think about the newer members to the site - will they be allowed to join in on the fun? More often than none, they don't join in anyway, but putting up too many rules and restrictions would push them out of it.

Last years event in that game I had every right to be mad about. CPC8 (or most members) just went all out against me for no reason, and didn't even make a secret out of it. Even Joe voted against me, and we're like best buddies.

Now, I'm looking at the Who Posted? thing, and Zero and Flash only voted once each. ALSO, I've noticed that people tend to vote down the highest and the lowest person/people in these games. If you dock off points from the lowest person in a row, they get chucked out quicker so the game can progress - same with the member with the highest amount of votes, so the figures don't get too high. Adding too much variety to this sort of game drags it on for months.

Gemma, I know they only posted once each, but the point is they came out of nowhere to do so, literally coming back after months of inactivity. I totally understand that in order to get the game moving along, you need to vote people off. I took points off of Ann because she was taking a huge lead, and then BAM, I became the next target. To make things even more suspicious, they were all people who chat on msn regularly.

I don't really care that it happened, but I'm really all for the fairness of things.

Really though, what I'm trying to do with this thread is not bitch about the game. That's a moot point in my opinion. I'm really just more curious to know why everyone is seemingly at everyone else's throats.
