Every time I get to the end. I'm always using a Ninja, Thief, Devout, and Magus. All except the Devout ( I don't like the color pink ok) look bad ass and are very end game worthy in my book.

On my first try I used Ninja, Black Belt, Bevout and Summoner. It seemed like a good idea, Summoner would spread the damage with Leviathan, and the Ninja sat in the back row and threw shurikens and the ranged weopons while the Black Belt attacked and the Devout healed.
This didn't last too long as none of the four had very good defence, so they'd get destroyed by a Lightning, Particle Beam combo.
I decided to cut my losses and go with Dark Knight, Knight, Viking and Devout, three of which weigh heavily on physical attacks and defence, while the third sits on the back row and takes minimal damage from most of the onslaught, casting curaja (and arise) at every opportunity.

Yeah, that's the risk you take in having a class with not so good mind attribute stat. My Black Belts get destroyed by a Kum Kum casting an -aga spell (about 3.5k-4.3k ish Hit points). You'd think the ribbons would make everything better. It kinda sucks I'm unemployed and can't afford to get this on a actual DS instead of my laptop but I know the mastery items would help a lot with this setup, along with earlier attained classes mastery items. The Summoner's mastery item is quite helpful with your magic defense problem.
