There is a Religions thread in intellectual discussion that a lot of people have responded in already, that you can look at too. I personally do believe in god, strongly and always have. Spirits, not so sure, depends on your definition of "spirit". I actually don't know exactly what a spirit is defined as. Souls yes, not sure if they are the same thing though.

Why, yes. I do believe in God.

As a born Roman CathoLic, it is just obvious that I do beLieve in God.. but most of aLL not just because of that but because I do reaLLy feeL that there's God who's watching and guiding us through Life.. :-) It wouLd be a chaos if there's no God for us..

"HELLO GUYS!"
There may have been an omnipotent being at one point but seeing the way things are now, its been gone for a long time now.
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes...or should I?
I don't believe in God. I was sent to a Church of England Primary School, and left there totally unconvinced of God's existence. I didn't believe in God, but I thought that that's what everyone was supposed to believe, so I went with the flow to try and fit in. I got to secondary school and didn't know there were other religions because I was completely shielded from other beliefs in Primary school. I didn't even know you could be an atheist. Boy, did I feel stupid.
Since I found out about other religions during Religious Education/Studies, I've become interested in learning about them. It was my favourite lesson.
And I yes, I do believe in ghosts, but I don't believe they have anything to do with religion. I'm more of a spiritual person, and I believe they're meant to be there - it's a normal thing. I don't believe the soul goes to heaven or hell, but remains here. Some are slightly stronger than others, so sometimes you see/hear/witness something out of the ordinary, which can only be explained by a ghost.
I had exactly the same thing. I hated having to endure religious assemblies and hymn practice as I saw it as a complete waste of time. My mum raised me to believe what I want, to learn things and make a decision for myself. I am a spiritual person, and I believe in the energies of the Earth and the cosmos, although I am unsure of how everything began. I don't believe so much in godlike entities; however scientific theories also have holes. I sometimes think about things, but I just take things as it comes.
I have no problems with religious people, and will accept them for who they are and appreciate that everyone has different beliefs, I just hate it if someone tries to preach at me. I also have a strong repellent towards churches, as they have really heavy energies that leave me feeling negative. I assume it's probably due to them being built on old ritual sites of pagans and druids after they were killed by Christian settlers.
I believe in God, and yes I also believe in ghosts, angels, and demons and I don't believe that angels and ghosts have ability nor the will to harm you but demons on the other hand have every will and intention to harm you physically, mentally, financially, and emotionally but no I don't believe that every unexplained sound or smell is paranormal I like to think of every thing at a logical stand point.
since you brought it up i heard about evil spirits i thought they were demons at first but then i started reading about them and they are sort of like demons just a few differences, Quick true story, my dad was at a bar about 4 years ago and it was a "haunted" bar if you will and a guy and his buddies were talking about and there was one guy in the group that was talking to his buddies and said theres no such thing in god or spirits or demons and said a bunch of smartass stuff and he thought he was tough cause hes a biker and said he wouldnt be scarred if he saw one anyways then he got up to go get a drink and he was slammed to a wall and got the shit (sorry for the swear word) beat out of him and was just messed up after that for a while.
I do not believe in god, I used to as a kid until I realized I'm an intelligent outstanding individual that can follow a proper moral code without some fictional book telling me how to do it nor telling me if I don't believe then I get to go to hell. I do not fear what is not real.
Please don't get offended.
I'm Roman Catholic and I can't say that I'm perfect when it comes to following the rules of my religion but I tend to be good as much as I can on that segment and I firmly believe in God. Somehow I can't imagine doing otherwise.

I do beleive in God. But I do sometimes find myself asking questions like how do you know? But the simple truth is that you don't. You have faith and you believe. Spirits.. Well that is a diffirent topic. It just depends on which religion you beleive in. For instince a Christian might beleive that a spirt would be a soul or to some the Holy ghost. While other religions.. Like some Pagen's for instance would consider spirits to be eather good or evil. But that goes into a whole diffirent spectrum of topics that we could talk all day about.
SPOILER!!:
SPOILER!!:
I believe that there is God, and He has some great plan for us and that after this life is over, there is something else that awaits us. I can't prove God exists in a scientific sense, because I only have my faith in Him, which probably sounds crazy/stupid to some people, but that's what I believe. There's been too many instances in my life alone that made me a firm believer that there is a higher power greater than humanity.
I'm not one of those crazy Christian nutcases, because I also have a very high acceptance/interest of other religious beliefs. I don't think it's right to push someone's beliefs on other people or cultures, and I don't think that if you aren't "saved" then you automatically go to Hell or some other sort of eternal damnation.
Sometimes, things like this (faith in a higher power) bring up too many questions and not enough answers, which is frustrating. Honestly though, when you feel something strong in your heart like that, it's okay not to have all the answers.
That's just my opinion on the matter.

I don't have any reason to believe there is a God, but I won't deny that there might be one. I believe religion is an old art to keep people under control.
Here's God! Stupid Aleph, you can't shoot a gun at YHWH, he will just reflect the bullets, silly! Luckily Aleph has a kerberos and an Anubis at his disposal, YHWH has a lot of HP and he'll need to use those Divine Retributions to get his health down, and Kerberos has Saricarm, so that will help out things as well for Aleph and crew.
Yes I believe in God. No I do not believe in YHWH. YHWH is an evil, evil demon that wants to kill off all of neo-tokyo. Damn him..

Why, of course. I do believe in God. I also believe in spirits, and half of you out there must think I'm crazy, with no explanation or a reason.
I've seen real pictures about it, actually. In lots of 2000 books. Besides, we exist. If God made us based on his shape, then yes, he exists. If heaven and hell doesn't exist in the afterlife, then what does? The proof is in the bible- it has more than 500 pages to explain how this world came to be.
My teacher once told me that her father was on the verge of death, and she prayed so hard, God made her father well again, like a miracle. He was on the verge of death again, after a few years, and died, because God told her, "That's the way life goes." And I believed her.
.....And I also stole that cupcake.

i believe in god because my dad has cancer and has had it for 9 years going on 10 and when he had it and the doc. told us he said he wouldnt live for another year and if he does it would be a miracle and then 9 years later hes still with us and still has cancer. hes 70 now and doing okay has his bad days but doesnt tell us cause he doesnt want to worry my mom. but just thought i would give a reason why i believe.
i dont really beleive in god, if he created everything who created him? you just cant be there forever
Been gone a long while but im back now and not as annoying. promise
THANKS TO ANDROMEDA
If nothing can be there forever, then how is there even a forever?
Anyway, as for my response to the thread, I believe in God. Not because I can prove that God exists or not, I just don't care to question things that don't deserve to be questioned. As for spirits, I believe everybody has a soul. That's kind of like a spirit. Specters I don't believe in. They just exists in ghost stories, designed for one soul purpose; to scare children.

Being born in a Hispanic and Roman Catholic heritage, I do believe in God. However, I, just as anyone else, am capable of wrong doing, although I try to apologize for that. I do believe in a soul, angels, and demonic forces in a metaphysical sense (like souls being tainted by evil, not a literal demon walking in human skin at the Wal-Mart) I repect other religion's beliefs unless they're being too radical, like the Taliban Islamists or certain Christian extremists. We teach others through peace and understanding, not shoving the bible down people's throats or yell at them about burning for all eternity.

Yes I believe in spirits, but I don't think I quite believe that they can remain here after the physical body has passed on. I actually think there are three parts to the whole human race. Body, soul, and spirit. If I'm not mistaken I think it's the belief of trichotomism.
I also believe in a spiritual where the metaphysical reside like God, angels, demons. All of which are spirit.
How on earth did this become a do you believe in God thread?? I thought it was spirits.
Ragna, so are you saying you didn't create anything???
EBG
well i half do aand half dont, like people say god created the world, but how did he get created? and if you read the end of the world as told in the bible, then he doesnt really love us does he? and why would he make us go through so much torture in life?
Been gone a long while but im back now and not as annoying. promise

'like people say': What 'God' are we talking about here? The traditional Christian/Jewish/Muslim variety?
And you realise the Bible is just a story with a message...
Some fellow from Ancient Greece called Epicurus said:
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able, and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God...
