    Rooting for the Bad Guys

(This thread is somewhat related to that other thread I just made over on "Whatever.")

Do you remember watching any old cartoons, and wishing to yourself that the bad guys would win? And if you did, why do you think you felt that way?

I remember watching the later episodes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and wishing that Shredder would make turtle soup out of them, or cause them some other unpleasant demise. I'm not completely sure why I felt this way, however. I just wanted to see the turtles in pain, for some reason. Kind of like I wanted to bully them, or something.

Also, when I'd watch the old Sonic cartoons (ESPECIALLY the weekday mornings one) I would often root for Robotnik to win, because Sonic was SO damn cocky, and he had a REASON to be, too. There was never ANY chance that he would ever lose. None. Whenever either of those stupid robots got a shot in on Sonic, that made me happy. Like the time that the chicken one asked Sonic if he wanted some food or another, Sonic said yes, and the chicken replied "Too bad! We don't have any!" and laughed in Sonic's face. (That was the one where Sonic was adopted by Robotnik's mother, or something.)

When I'd watch Pokemon, I'd also always wish that Jesse and James would successfully steal Pikachu JUST ONCE, just so there'd be a little VARIETY in the damn show. Why not have an episode that ends on a cliffhanger? Or would that be too damned complicated for the writers to come up with? I also felt really sorry for Jesse and James, to be honest. I remember once when they'd already lost, and just wanted to get away, and Ash was like "Pikachu! We can't let them get away!" And Pikachu sent them "Blasting off again," of course. COME ON!! Can't you at least show them a little bit of mercy, and let them just crawl away? Also, arbok was always my favorite pokemon, so I especially felt sorry for it.

That's all I got, for now.

I remember when I watched Tiny Toons.... I always wanted Elmyra to be able to keep a pet from running away just once. I also wanted the Rabbit to finally get his Trix... but, of course, those were just commercials. Heh.
Why the hell is everyone's sig so long? Be polite and use a freakin' spoiler tag!:

Heh. Oh yes! Elmyra. I always wanted her to be able to keep a pet, too. Not because I felt sorry for her, but because I enjoyed the thought of cute little animals in pain, with their eyes bulging out and their teeth showing in a grimace (that's often what I draw, anyway. I don't like seeing cute little animals brutally murdered, though, like in many cartoons on Newgrounds.)

I always wanted to see Buster get hit by an anvil, too. Or maybe that was Bugs. Hmm... probably both. Heh.

The Trix rabbit wasn't evil, though. He was just misunderstood... and mistreated... It's the KIDS who were evil. Never sharing their food. It's DISCRIMINATION!! (and those are my honest feelings on that subject, too, not just some sarcastic, silly outburst. Those little kids are BASTARDS.)

You know...I did too. Those damn kids.

I wanted Marik to win in Yu-Gi-Oh. Just because he is hot. Or the blue haired guy who has Leviathan...he is really cool and complex. did I mention really cool.

I wish Jessie and James would have kept Pikachu when they got it, trained it to obey, and successfully have one of their plans work out.

I also wanted Seymour to win just to see what would happen...if he really could do anything to control Sin.

While I find some Yu-Gi-Oh! villains questionable, I will agree on James, Jessie, and Meowth from Pokémon. I really got tired of them being blasted off, and for once I'd like to see them win SOMETHING. Not necessarily Pikachu, but a plan or two should succeed. But I suppose that would be putting too much faith in a kids show, ne?

I don't know much else though. Most of the shows I watched were Animanics-types and whatnot. You can't really, truly say that they're good guys, but they're not quite bad either. They're more in the Chaotic Neutral tier if anything. On the other hand, with some video games, bad guys tend to "win" a lot through a certain part of the game. Until they're, you know, defeated. So there wasn't much rooting going on at that end.

Yeah, I never really rooted for bad guys. I was content with seeing the good guys win, usually. Usually.
