Elemental Magic
Final Fantasy games, and most other RPGs, normally make use of elemental magics. This thread is to find out your favorite elemental magic, whether it is straight-up magic, infused in a weapon, or both. I bring this up, because right now I am playing Final Fantasy VII. I tend to separate the different elements and distribute them to the characters. For example, Red XIII normally carries a Fire Materia when I play.
I do the same thing when playing Final Fantasy VIII, and its Draw/Cast Magic system. I would give Zell Lightning magic, for example.
So what is your favorite element? Is it because of the visual it has in the game, or some other reason?
For me, I really like Ice and Water magic. In Final Fantasy X/X-2 especially. It's partly because of the effect, and partly because of the little taunts that Lulu or the X-2 party would say when casting them.

Re: Elemental Magic
I've always liked Thunder/Lightning/Bolt Magic because it always looks like it hits hard and sounds pretty painful too. Thunder zaps, Thundara crackles and Thundaga welds them to the floor.
Plus the animation for them is never too long either, with no huge explosions or scenery changes every time the spell hits it's target.

Re: Elemental Magic
Ice magic. Just something about the cold makes me happy. I prefer it infused with a weapon (the Icebrand is my favourite of all FF weapons) but the spell is always neat to watch as well. The freezing mist materializing, then slowly coalescing into dense crystals, which then combine into a ferocious spike to impale any enemies in your path.
Oh, and water is pretty cool too, I guess. Water infused weapons (Caldabolg) are badass and all, but Water just seems like an unsatisfying spell when compared to Blizzard/Ice.
Splish-splash.

Re: Elemental Magic
My favorite magic is ultima, I like the idea of how in some of the FFs its like an atomic nuke going off. FFVI's version of the spell was the best looking effect imo not just because it was in FFVI but because the effect was pretty neat.
I understand it wasn't always all that powerful in certain FF games, but the name, the effect and what its capable of doing always attracted me.
