Since FFXI was re-released on Xbox 360, I genuinely hope XIV will see the day on it as well (I wouldn't mind having to instal lots of data to play it, since I have a 120 Gb HDD.)
So, should I stop hoping, or not?

I would stop hoping.
Microsoft already said they would not allow the game onto their console because they do not want third-parties charging money to play a game when they (M$) are already charging the consumers for XBOX Live. FFXI was kind of like a one-time deal.
But isn't FFXIV free to play now? (not counting when you actually buy the game)
Yes FFXIV is free to play right now due to it being messed up.
Only reason XBOX got FFXI was because they got rid of it for PS2.
thats wierd, must be a new norm that microsoft has, because yeah I remember them having fees for FFXI and also PSU as well.
Unfortunate! Though isn't ff14 still in it's "free to play until we fix things up", or are they charging by the month now?
Completely untrue, Loaf. Thousands of people still play FFXI on PS2. Microsoft saw a chance at something lucrative, thought it would make them millions of dollars, and jumped on it. It didn't turn out that way, and they didn't want to do it any more.
It's the same with PSU - it originally had fees to play online (still does, to my knowledge), but Microsoft wasn't a fan because they didn't like OTHER people making money off of their service.
You see, for FFXI, it is possible to have an XBOX Live Silver account, not pay for the XBL service at all, and just use it to get online and activate the PlayOnline service. Microsoft was pissy that Square-Enix was basically allowing people to use XBL to play online, which is an XBL Gold exclusive capability.
ewww then I've been lied to all these years.....that's why I didn't play it.
I've asked people who know about it everyone said due to the PS2 Slim they stopped letting PS2 users play it.
I'd stop hoping.
If it did well I wouldn't have been surprised if talks were had, much of the development was based around the 360. Sad fact is they're not generating money off it, no money, most businesses don't want to hear about it.
