Help!...Please?!

Hello all. First post here. I used to have final fantasy 9 on my ps and play it all the time, but it's been years and i've long since lost the disk. So, I downloaded EPSXE and the final fantasy ROM (which is legal provided you actually own the game) and everything seems to be going fine except one thing....

Whenever I try use an ability out of combat, for example Garnets cure ability, I press "ability"and it doesnt move the cursor down to the list of abilities below, it goes to the equip menu, then on the equip menu if i press "equip" it jumps back to the ability menu! Am I doing something stupid, or is the ROM bugged? All comments on the rom download say "working perfectly!" etc, so i'm assuming i'm up to something...! Cure is in white, so i'm assuming that I should be able to use it! Any help would be much appreciated!


Thanks very much! I don't want to go through the game having to use 1000000 potions 'cause I can't heal outwith battle!

First, I would check to make sure your controls are set properly in the configuration menu.

If it's not a controls then I suggest downloading a different emulator and a different rom. I use "Psxfin" and I have no problems. I don't play IX on my emulator, but I have loaded one up to test before, and it worked just fine.

Just go on amazon and buy a brand new FF9 it wont cost that much and it will be a whole lot easier than faffing around with it and using millions of potions!!!

Sounds like the emulator itself is having problems. I'd suggest trying a different one.
