Cosplay Sephiroth ideas/help

Alright, ill firstly note that im not particularly sure if this kind of thread should go here, but feel free to move it someonewhere to point me in the right direction if im wrong.

Alright, well, i need this for halloween this year, and it was suggested that i go as sephiroth. Yes, He's too cool for you, you wont pull it off, very typical. i dont really care.

Yes, im going to make myself a replica of the sword. DDoes anyone know accurately how big it is? Im thinking ill just cut/sand down a large piece of plywood and paint it.

Next problem, the shoulders. I want the look of metal, and im cheap, so in actually doing this? my first thought waws make a base for them, find some cheap form of thin plastic to paint, then cover the base in. Could work, but i still dont know if it would look good.

Lastly, wings. Im sure sure on how i would go about this, and it seems to be the hardest part of the costume. I havent looked too hard into making it yet, but i believe my nan is experienced her, so i will ask her and update, maybe. But i adore the wings myself, so i would like to try my best to find something that would work here.

Please spread ideas on what you know that can help me here, criticise my ideas (always welcome, ive never done anything like this before) or just.. yeah.

Well, you can check on amazon or Ebay, tey have his outfits for about 150 dollars, and be it that you have 6-7 monthes till Halloween, you should be able to save up.

His sword, is anywhere from 50-80 inches, to heavy to make from wood, and even house plastic would cause you to walk off balance, but again, there are models on Ebay.

Plywood is pretty light, is it not? I made a case for a rape alarm at school out of plywood, and it was much lighter to the MDF I was using too. It might work. But a thick plastic one would work too, and would be lighter. You could get a replica, or even something similar. My brother got a wooden training sword (in a pair too!) and used that instead. It's heavy, but nothing that will unbalance you - it's a comfortable weight.

My brother bought a Sephiroth outfit online. It was about £30 and it was really... um. Cheap. So a decent one will put you back a bit. At least £100+. His wig was about £20 too, and that was alright.

Yeah, i know about being able to buy them online, and i do have the money on me at the moment, i was just looking at possible ways to save myself the trouble of online shopping, and.. making it yourself gets so much more satisfaction. But yeah, ill probably end up buying it, but none of the costumes ive seen have a wing included in them. Info on buying the wig, however, is good. That is something i will definately have to look into buying.

The sword however.. i am not a strong person, and i will have to check out the weight for myself. Ive thought about plastic, but i dont know how i would actually go about making something with plastic, as i have no experience in the matter. Buying replicas costs heaps :/

Unless you are an excellent craftsman and you gotta be real honest with yourself, don't bother making something, a simple google search will show you how wrong that goes, save yourself the time, by a cool costume

Hmm, well, everyone likes to avoid spending money. But i mightjust do that. Im quite insistant on the wing though. Im going for the kingdom hearts sephiroth look ^
