Addressing the sci-fi FFs

Just occurred to me recently, if FFVII, VIII, and XIII are all fancy shmancy sci-fi futuristic games where people have cool technology and stuff, why don't NPCs have portable mp3 players? doesn't that strike you as odd that a little feature like that hasn't been incorporated into an FF game. VII and VIII i understand, but XIII has no excuse haha.

I'm not going for a prejudice view or anything, I just find it funny that when FFs go sci-fi and people have cool technology they don't have the tech for portable music players, its really ironic when you think about it.

They didn't invent them yet.

Or it isn't a priority to show off modern tech with a futuristic design.

For all we know they do have mp3 players and xbox's.

In FF13, the Munchkin enemies wear headphones and rollerskates while they battle you. It looks like they listen to the music of Samba de Amigo too.

EH... Okay? Not much of a gigantic deal but...
Maybe cause we aren't supposed to care about trivial things like that?
Or maybe a know, as in FF8's manor, things are a little serious to care?
