Where is the Resident evil series going?
And what do you think of it?
Hmm, from what I am seeing, the next game may be the last one, as all there is left to know is what corporation Ada is in, unless that will span a new continuation.
I mean, From RE0 to Veronica, it was scary in parts, but Re4 started to change it, and Re5 killed it.
RE5 was still a hella fun game, it just wasn't RE.
This is what I think of the series.
RE0- Not scary in a sense. The only scary parts was the damn random leech man, pisses me the hell off that whore O.o
Re1- Only to me, the remake was scarier. I mean, the red zombies or Crimson heads, they scared me to hell. Them and the hunters made me die a little.
Re2- Hmm, my favorite, and to me had the most fearsome parts, but none really memorable, maybe the licker jumping out the mirror or the hands in the hallway, or Mr X.
Re3- Same with Re2, many fearsome parts, but were random and scattered.
Didn't like it as much as 2 cause it was over before I started, about 4 and a half hours total time.
ReCV- One of my favorites. It had some scary parts and some nice music (save theme). One of the most memorable for me.
RE4- This game was awesome, and honestly, gave me one of the top 3 scares of my life o.o, I shot the lake... And the damn garradors pissed me off, and the dolphin jumps the regenerators do when they have no legs.
I completed this game 100% on the ps2, I mean literally, I even have the highest Mercinaries score on the watertown and village.
RE5- FUn, but not scary, I did jump once, or twice, but it was like a bright Re4. I have it now and I'm finishing up as we speak lol.
Also on a side note, the lost in nightmares DLC for Re5, that scared me twice in a row, literally, no game other than SH4 has been able to do that.
Re: Where is the Resident evil series going?
In survivor horror sense the entire franchise went downhill after the third installment, both Resident Evil 4, and 5 are nothing more than plain shooters. Don't know in which direction series will continue to unfold, but I do hope they might return to it's roots. Intense, and creepy atmosphere, cheap scares, intriguing puzzles, sense of vulnerability, recent entry's in franchise lack those elements, I hope it wont be the case with Resident Evil 6.
Re: Where is the Resident evil series going?
No game company is going to go backwards in their devlopment. Which is why RE5 sucks compared to 4.
The only cool thing about RE5 is the co op. The rest of the game sucks, but being in the game, the co op blows as well.
Re: Where is the Resident evil series going?
I remember reading an interview last year that the next Resident Evil is going to be a reboot. It sounded like they were viewing the as the end of the canonical RE series as it has been. What exactly they have planned for the next major RE title though, I haven't the slightest idea.
Re: Where is the Resident evil series going?
I've not really enjoyed a Resident Evil game since Resident Evil 3: Nemesis on PSOne. To be fair, I haven't played many, but the first games always seem to meet my expectations than newer ones for some reason. They just seem scarier in my opinion. I own Resident Evil Code: Veronica X, which I thought was really boring, Resident Evil 4, which was actually pretty okay and gave me a good share of jumps, and Resident Evil 5... I can't really get into it.
I don't know where it plans on going next. I think puzzles should have the element of mysteriousness about them - like you'll find something named "Demon Key", and spend the whole game trying to find out what it unlocks.
These days, if I really want a good scaring in my video games, I'll play FEAR, FEAR 2 and Dead Space. o.o
Re: Where is the Resident evil series going?
Dead Space was stellar. I still have to play Dead Space 2. Might do that next week during my week break.
I played the very first RE on the PS1. I was like 6, lol. Scared the crap out of me, but somehow I finished it. RE2 was fun and seemed more thought-out than the first. RE3 I didn't like. It wasn't "scary", it was frustrating. Veronica was alright but nothing spectacular. 4 was really good in my opinion, but I was disappointed Capcom didn't update the new gameplay further with RE5. I played RE5 because Wesker was awesome in that game. But to be hoenst as far as plot and all is concerned, RE never made much sense.

Yea, horror games or titles in general don't make sense story wise.
Oh and, don't get dead space 2, I didn't think it was scary in the slightest extent.
Dead space tries to hard to be scary and it really dissapoins me and I won't be buying another DS game if part 3 comes into tuition

Far from it, developers themselves mentioned several times that Dead Space 2 will be more action oriented, even before the game was released. If you kept any track whatsoever you should have known what to expect.
In survivor horror sense Dead Space 2 is somewhat weaker than it's predecessor, though it has it's moments, if nothing else music is more than well done, what one should expect from survivor horror game. On the other hand it has some advantages, Isaac movements have improved enabling fast paced combat, more or less, which is quite normal by the way since Isaac knows what he's dealing with. Not really the best of survivor horror, nevertheless, it's a decent game, I personally would recommend it.

That's an arrogant remark. :ak47::babble:
Anyways, I have kept great attention to it so don't assume, and they said themselves that the action is just to break up and ultimately add more tension. Which it failed.
They stated that they are trying to meld EA into more of an action genre gaming, as well as DS3's direction, which it will fail.
Oh and, if you are looking for horror survival, don't get it, actually, no Horror survival games are worth getting so far, tho the psych horror Silent hill is coming out later this year.

Hold on a second, are you trying to tell me that you actually knew that Dead Space 2 is more focused on action than it's predecessor, that developers decided to trim it a bit, in survivor horror sense of course, thus appealing to wider audience...
...you knew all that, you knew what to expect, yet you decided to buy the game, and moan about it. I'm going to use your own logic here, let's say that my professor decided to give me a somewhat harder exam, he's kind enough to tell me that several weeks before the exam, now that I have a slight idea what kind of exam is waiting for me, I should still walk in unprepared and bitch about it, despite the fact that I already knew what to expect.

And you know the outcome how exactly?
Re: Where is the Resident evil series going?
Oh my god KID, I'm not even going to respond to you.
This is about Resident evil, not your own narcissism.
Re: Where is the Resident evil series going?
HEY! Do I need to put you two in time out? Cool it. I know you've gotten on each other's cases before, so I'm giving you prewarning-type warnings again. But knock it off. Keep it civil. "If you can't say anything nice to each other, don't say nothin' at all."
And uh... what I've seen of the Resident Evil games, they all seem pretty awesome. Never played them myself, but I've seen friends play bits and pieces-I've seen most of 4 played through on the Wii, actually-and... none of them really scared me. Maybe because I've been older when they've come out. I will say that I tried the tank controls on Code Veronica and hated them. Anyhoo...
Wuv, Yer Mom
I have to leave, so you'd better behave.
