Little More from FF versus XIII

Well there was apparently a pretty short article or info dump by Square about their eventually upcoming game FFvXIII. There's been a lot of silence about the game in the wake of FFXIII. However, that seems to be disappearing somewhere. Kotaku and another place I visit had the same three screenshots from Famitsu as well as a little different bits of info to be given about the game. So I'll provide you links and we can discuss.

First Final Fantasy Versus XIII Gameplay Images

Calling them gameplay images is a little bit of a stretch since we're still so unclear about a lot of the combat for the game. However, the little bits that were given help to keep us teased. ^^;

Thoughts?

I've seen a few of these new images as well, and I like reading the comments made about them. Particularly when people say it looks like it's some sort of hybrid of Fallout and Final Fantasy. :lol: After looking at images like this...:

...it's easy to see why they would say that. xD

Anyway, I'm ready for some gamplay footage. Screenshots are nice, but I would really like to see the game in action! That's about all I can say about it at the moment.

After reading this:

"Players can drive around in a car, which they can exit and explore the area on foot. Objects that are found on the road can be destroyed as well."

...I get the impression it's some sort of cross between Grand Theft Auto and Final Fantasy. Do I smell awesome? I'm really excited for this.

Well they already said there is going to be an overworld map to run around. They also said there is going to be airship we can fly. I don't know if they swapped overworld map for open world, that's some typo. >.> Anyway, like you I want to see some gameplay footage and some world exploration footage. I want to see what we have being offered for this time.

But if you can fly an airship around the world and land it wherever you want minus a few locations like anything FFIX and earlier then I'll be happy and excited. I've missed my airship flying days.

GTA and FF >.> I'm not sure if I like those two titles in the same breath or not.

Depends on the proportions. Taking 100% from each wouldn't be possible; but elements of GTA free-roam in a Final Fantasy(-esque?) game will be an interesting twist. I wonder what kind of vehicles they will dream up?

So happy to hear that they are going back to a fully explorable World Map because it has been the one thing that has been missing to me in the most recent Final Fantasy titles.

I actually have been playing Just Cause 2 a lot recently and it is pretty much like a giant sandbox type of game where you can go anywhere and do anything. Grab any vehicle that you see and have fun with it and if FFvXIII is anything game play wise as Just Cause 2 it's gonna be fantastic to play. The thing the Just Cause lacked was a good story and I'm sure Square Enix won't disappoint in that department.

Get me some gameplay footage! Whoo!
