What are you? What were you?

So, I thought to myself today. "What are you? What were you?". I started to think of all the things in my life that I've labled myself. I guess in a sence I started to question why we like these questions "What are you? Ninja or Pirate?". Why we choose these awesome titles for ourselves.

So the thought behind this thread is, people change over time. And where once you saw yourself as a Ninja you now view yourself as a Pirate because while Pirates arent as stealthy and percise as ninjas, they can inspire this fear and aura of badassery (is that a word?) that with a year or so of thought behind it now suits your style far more then being quiet.

Think about every Ninja vs Pirate, Vampire vs Werewolf, Soldier vs SeeD, ect ect, thread/discussion you've ever been a part of. Dont limit yourself to these selections, think outside the box, think about what your most like and choose that. Choose more then one thing you feel you currently are if thats what your a mix of. Then think back to your old mentality, what were you?

Please explain your decisions. Why you thought that way. What made you choose that.

I've always figured myself to be a Mage. The arcane is the Mage's must trusted ally, and can help them in just about any situation. When their knowledge of the arcane falls just short of whatever they need, a Mage can always research and add more knowledge to the pool.

That's kind of how I feel about my mind. My mind, my intelligence, is full of a little of just about everything, and I use whatever tidbits I have to make the best of whatever situation I'm in. If I don't know enough to satisfy the requirements of whatever I'm doing, I can always learn more.

Another reason is that Mages are capable of accomplishing great things in a fantastic manner, which is something that I always aspire to do.


My old fancy was always being an Elf. Elves were always so graceful, beautiful, and perfect in every way, in my eyes. I aspired to be one, wanted to be what I thought an Elf to be. I realize now that it's rather silly to strive to be something that doesn't exist, but that adopting what qualities I thought an Elf to have was what was worth striving for.

Well me personally, I used to consiter myself an Angel, I used to be a Bible thumper, used to make people question whiether or not they'd made the right choice. After a while, when my faith in people started to dwindle. I found myself growing more and more angry with the stupidity (people cheating on their S.O.'s then wondering why they'd been dumped, stupid emo kids who wanted to commit suicide, alot of other stupid crap) wore me down to the point where I went darkside for a while, not caring about anyone and consitering myself the opposite of what I'd though/wanted to be. A demon.

Finally after a while I found a balancing point, and as per my roleplayer's soul I constered myself a halfling of the two, or just 'human'.

Speaking from an animal's perspective, I consitered myself a dog. Loyal, loveable, gullible. Willing to come back after being repeatedly kicked and treated poorly. This changed however, after years of constant abuse at the hands of others, even the world's best dog will become savage.

Speaking from a stand point of 'What are you?' now, I consiter myself a wolf. Fiercely loyal to those with me, but sometimes I have a cruel streak that gets the better of me at times, and I tend to run off into the world alone to sort it out. I also tend to rush back to those Bible thumping ways at times (Not to people who arent of my faith anymore, I've learned that I only drive people away when I do that, unless they want a discussion. That I can provide.) and can be viewed as a Defender or Paladin. Two things that when asked "What are you?" I've replied with.

The third thing that I used to reply with (when I was really into anime/asian culture) was Samurai, though I dont think I'm that strict or disciplined in my battle discipline any longer infact I dont think I ever was, I just thought they were cool >.>;.

All in all however, if I had to choose some warrior type to label myself as, I'd choose the Viking. Very loyal to his clan/people. Ruthless and savage when it comes to supplying them, and not above kicking someone in the balls to get that upper hand in battle. This fits me just fine.

If I could think atm, I'd have more. But this will have to do for now, and you guys are probly tired of reading my ramble >.>;;.

Were those two two-liner posts intended to be spam posts? I'm just wondering, because neither of them really elaborated on the topic at hand...

Oh, and yeah, I can be an arrogant asshole. One of my many traits. :lol:

What am I? I am a human, brother, son, grandson, nephew, cousin, and relative, all in a family sense. I am a friend, one who looks out for others. I'm an employee, and due to my job I am also an advocate, looking out for children with special needs. I'm a man with ambition and goals. I am out to get what I want and rightfully deserve. Most of all, hopefully someday I will be someone who was able to do something great in their lives, something that will leave a mark of recognition in society. Hopefully a good mark too.

What was I? I think at one point, I was a introvert. I disliked talking to people. I was terrible at addressing a whole group, I despised it. When I started working more and realizing how good I am at what I do and that I could get rewarded for it, I left my shell. I do like people, but at one point I was not a talker. When I started working at my next job, I got to work with children. I realized how upfront and innocent they are and how much they can adore someone, anyone, should that person fight their inhibitons of shunning and ignoring someone who seems different from most. I feel like in a way I could relate to them because I still carried that honesty and innocence around with me as well, and by helping others, I was able to help myself with confidence in my own abilities even further. I think through it all, I am still a good person, but I have been more of a kinder person overall when I was in a young age. I believe that everyone gets a little meaner over the years though. Things happen and there is only so many times one can take of being screwed over before becoming bitter and jaded towards the world. Such is the tragedy of growth and maturity, to see the otherside in a more clear manner. One could not wait to grow up and become an adult, but when it comes to that time, looking back on the early days seemed much more pleasant.

Jeez, sorry. I wasn't trying to be a mod, or trying to be presumptuous, or anything like that. It was more of a post to somewhat point out that responses to this thread should be more detailed. I guess I should have just said what I meant, instead of trying to be clever with a subliminal psychological suggestion. I'm new here, but I can learn.
