Cannibal! The Musical
I just saw this movie about a week ago. I've been hearing about it for years, but was never able to find it in stores. Now that I've seen it, I'm absolutely in love with it!
To break it down, it's an indie film/musical created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. It's based on the true story of Alferd Packer, a cannibal who leads a group of miners to Colorado territory. Plus, there are catchy songs in the light of what we see from Stone and Parker to date.
Characters
The characters featured in Cannibal! are true to the actual story of Alferd Packer. Though there are a few comedic alterations, it does stay close to the actual story. The few added characters, such as the hilarious trapper trio and "indians" are what make the film what it is: hilarious!

Story
As with the characters, the movie pretty much stays on target with the actual story of Alferd Packer. The only time that it strays is for comedic reasons and of course, the singing. So yes, the movie was actually based on a true story. I didn't believe it at first either, but it is in fact true!

Music/Sound
Almost too good! Cannibal! is loaded with hilarious and creative songs. All songs were written (and several performed) by Trey Parker. He originally started his career with music, so the songs are actually very nicely constructed. If the trapper song doesn't make you laugh, I'll give you a dollar...

Graphics
The film quality is descent for an indie film, so it won't distract you from the actual movie itself. But it isn't exactly up to par with the big budget films. Could have been better, but for a mere $10,000 (**EDIT** I've just watched the film with commentary. Trey Parker said they had a $100K budget, but he was also highly intoxicated during the director's commentary...who knows?) budget, I was impressed.
3/5
Directing
Some of the acting was kind of shallow, but again, you have to keep in mind that it is an indie film (directed by Trey Parker). But much like the picture quality of Cannibal!, the cheese factor in some of the acting is not enough to distract the viewer from the actual film itself. Some didn't even catch the cheese factor in the acting, so you might not either.

Thanks very much for this review! I've been hearing quite a few good things about this movie, but haven't seen it yet. It does seem really funny, and I have never been disappointed in Mr. Parker and Mr. Stone. I will be putting this on my "To see" list :) Thanks!
