you should definitely try out Dragon Quest 5 and Dragon Quest 6, both are on the SNES and can be played by rom. Though they've never been released to the States (except on DS for 5, many years later..), both are very good games and are also fully translated. If you are interested I could PM you a link on where to find them (since talking about roms and stuff are technically breaking the rules here )
Didn't want to clog up the thread about FFVII being overrated, so I figured I'd just tell you here where it's not off-topic. Final Fantasy games better than FFVII? I, IV, VI, IX, X, XII, and Tactics. Most had all or a combination of better: Plot, gameplay, music, strategy, character advancement, character stories, main character, main "bad guy", sidequests/minigames ... well, that's prettymuch every category, there. It's not a bad game, not by any means. It's just not all it's cracked up to be -- not by any means.
