I remember selling my red Gameboy Pocket and Pokémon games (Red, Blue, Yellow and Silver cartridges) at Cash Converters for the NZ$120 I needed to buy this exact version of this game, when it was newish. I was about 13 or 14 (I think), and my dad had to do the selling at Cashies on my behalf. I think he wanted me to save most of that money, so I never told him that this game cost me all of it. To this day I wish I had kept my Gameboy and waited till I had a 'real' job and could afford $120 without peddling wares, even if I would have had to buy it online and secondhand. Not only because a Gameboy pocket would be so badass to pull out on the bus in 2013, but because my dad bought me my Gameboy Pocket on my 10th (I think) birthday, and Pokémon red was my first (and favourite, for a long time) video game. And now that priceless sentimental artefact is probably sitting in the dump. I think there's a thread in this.
