Hey, i had a question about your avy, it looks familiar... is it a marvel character? for some reason i'm thinking its Duo from Mega Man 8 but I'm sure i'm way off.

Oh yeah, Llednar. That battle was actually quite easy for me. As long as you stay out of his range, he can't use Omega. At least, I think that's the case. During my battle with him, I didn't attack him at all. He would attack me, and then on my turn I would move and heal. Right now, I have Marche as a Ninja (because of the Dual Wield ability). That's basically my only offensive character in the Queen Remedi battles. With Dual Wield and some special boots that make Marche increase his move range, I am able to get behind Remedi and attack that way. I think that is also a disadvantage, because it puts Marche out of range for any characters to perform healing actions on him.

The Pokemon situation is the same here, with all the games still costing the same amount despite how long they have been out. I have checked Walmart and eBay, and everything is $35-50 depending on where you look.

I didn't have problems with the Wi-Fi for my DS. I was able to connect almost immediately after I got the DS on. All I had to do was go to the Nintendo website. I have sent Mognet mail to a couple people for FFIII, and even battled someone in Pokemon Pearl (before I had to give the game back to my sister's boyfriend). I still fully intend to buy some DS Pokemon games, but they are still so expensive and 358/2 Days was so cheap.

What do you know about The World Ends With You? I saw HCBailley's April Fool's episode of it (the one where he totally rips on it), but I thought it was neat. It is one of the reasons why I became interested in getting a DS in the first place.

Sucks about your gaming setbacks. I don't exactly remember (b), but I understand where you're coming from. All I can think about in FFTA is that stupid battle against Queen Remedi. I looked up a strategy on how to beat her, but it was almost exactly what I was already doing (and failing) that I still haven't attempted it in a few weeks.

It's okay. I keeping getting KO'd against the second form of Queen Remedi. I was trying again this morning before I left for work, and I got her down to around 100 HP. Then the stupid Mateus twins killed my party. I wanted to reach through the screen and throw water at Mewt, since he was asleep and I can't control his character. I guess I could fight all those clans to become stronger, but it is just so repetitive.

Belong... O.o That's great! I laughed at that keyblade bit. What on earth would you do with such a thing? (I assume it's life-size)

Well, she's not far, but she's extremely busy with studying for classes so I've been sending her gifts and such. We keep track through e-mails and all that, so it's not that bad.

Oh, brothers, eh? Littler ones or bigger?

Ah carburetors are tough, finicky things to work on, aren't they? You must be terribly skilled

Very commendable, gathering money beforehand. I've never been to an expo myself (for shame) what're they like?

No. Coping is impossible. I mean, I've been caring for her almost all her life. I still miss her sweet little face and the house, though clean (thanks to my increased fervor), is missing her singularly artistic touches. Shucks, she was a princess and she made this dump a castle.
So, yeah, I guess it'll take some getting used to.

Well, besides the obvious like the Final Fantasy and Kindom Hearts games, I have a couple of goodens! If you like tactic games, Tactics Ogre is pretty awesome. It's made by Enix. The story is fantastic, and branches off in differen ways depending on your choices using the Tarrot system. I prefer it to WotL.

Lord of Arcana is cool too, but mostly for the score. I love the music more than the gameplay and story, and that was the only reason I bought the game haha. Still, it's not terrible. Can probably get it cheap now. Less than 20-5$.

Samurai Warriors State of War is pretty good for a hack and slash fighter. It also has tactical elements which can determine the way the battles go. Each character you play as gives you their viewpoint on the story, and how they feel. The stories aren't bad either, but they get repeative when playing the characters from the same side.

For now, finally, I recommend Crush. It's an awesome little puzzle game which reminds me of Catherine in some ways. Nice change from RPGs. Should be very cheap now. I'd say less that 10$. I paid £1.98 for mine.

    Rawr you're forgiven
*sigh* Poor thing. I'm sorry I got your hopes up.

Truly regrettable about your gold Toyota. I hate when things like that happen. and I hope you get your passion back.

I've been fiddling with mostly Mitsubishi and a little with Dodge. Yeah, it is pretty fun. Too bad I've got other annoying responsibilities that keep getting in the way. I mean, just when I get my hands properly dirty, it's time to go in and make dinner. Bummer.

    So, whatcha been up to?

Yeah, okay. Sorry for the lengthy VM (I have too much time on my hands, I guess?) Looking forward to hearing about it. Don't get electrocuted, man.

Oh? I'm sure I included my car-passion in my profile somewhere... I'm not ultra learned though, for now I'm just an apprentice mechanic, but my master is truly skilled. He specializes in imports (I's so lucky XD)
What kinda car you been working on?

Here're some directions, (I hope you find them useful) this won't work on the slim-line version, of course:
Unplug the system. Remove memory cards/controllers, etc. Turn the system over (make sure there aren't any disks in there first...) remove the 8 rubber thingies (a utility knife is good for that, but my fingernails suffice), use # 2 phillips screwdriver to remove the 8 screws. There is a 'void warranty' sticker on the back, but who cares, cut it, or carefully peel and preserve elsewhere (as is your wont. Whatever. It's tape.)
Now CAREFULLY remove upper cover (the thing that says PS2 in blue writing) without breaking the ribbon wire (gathered lines of really delicate computer wire) that is connected to the eject and reset buttons (better safe than sorry) The ribbon wire is usually taped to the disc tray cover, (you can, if you want, carefully tear that tape off to give yourself some slack. You can also carefully pull the power/reset button out of the upper cover, but if you have space, it wont be necessary) You may now set the upper cover aside.
This step will require that you keep your fingers away from the circuit-board bits (you could get electrocuted) Plug in the system (it sounds scarier than it is, how else would the techs do it?) and push the eject button. Unplug the unit for now.
Next, use the mini screw-driver to remove the disc cover that says: "caution- laser radiation when open. Do not stare into the beam" Now that's off, turn it over and carefully pop out the white plastic ring with the magnet in the center and set the cover aside.
You are now looking at the laser and mechanicals inside the PS2. (don't stare into the laser, okay?) If there's any dust in there, now would be a good time to wipe it off (70% rubbing alcohol is a nice cleaner, obviously, don't immerse the system in it) Q-tips help, too. Clean the rubber-coated base where the disk sits with alcohol on the end of a q-tip (dry it real quick). Be sure to clean the laser in like-fashion. Use a wet Q-tip on it for half a minute, then use a dry Q-tip, for half a minute.
At the way back, you'll noticed there is a white plastic gear and a metal stay that holds the white gear on a certain tooth. Basically, you wanna mark where the gear originally sat with a black marker (or something) now turn the white plastic gear one to two teeth in either direction. First turn it clockwise, now stick a disc that didn't work previous in the disk tray.
Place the white circle with the magnet in the center, on the center hole of the disk (it only goes on one way: in the same direction it faced before) and reconnect the plug (be careful or you'll get electrocuted, man) shove in the video cables, and one controller. Power on the unit. Push the 'on' button. The door will shut and the disk will spin. Make sure it doesn't fly off (which will happen if you put that magnet on upside down, silly) Now turn to your screen. If the disk works, hurray. If not, you'll find yourself in the browser/system config screen. Hit the triangle button. Go to the top "console" option. hit triangle again. Text will appear that says console diagnoses. Turn it on, press the 'O' button a couple times to get back to the browser/config screen. Enter browser. Reinsert disk and see if it loads the disk in the browser. If not, eject disk, power off unit and readjust the white gear. counter-clockwise this time. (if you hadn't guessed, the white gear adjusts the distance the laser is from the disk)
Okay, I hope that helps. Oh, forgot to mention... Does your system ever say 'disk read error? that, too, can be fixed.

Actually, according to my other brother, who has torn down and rebuilt the things countless times, if it makes ticky sounds, then the laser is too close to the disc. Do you feel up to taking it apart?

    Hypothetically, yup.
  13. View Conversation
    Confucius brothers say:
If PS1 discs work, the problem is voltage. If PS1 games don't work than it probably has something to do with the laser's distance from the disc.
It could just be as you say, that your motor is busted, to tell the difference, listen closely to the system. Does it make a slight ticky noise when you insert the disc? (as though it's trying to read it, then gives up?) if not, you're correct in assuming the thing's broken. In which case, I'm truly sympathetic for your loss. Sorry I couldn't help.

I don't think it's strange at all. I miss my moogle avatar actually. I think I will go back to it when everything computer-wise is back to normal.

BTW, I just finished Pearl. The Elite 4 and cynthia were so difficult. I used a water only team (Buneary). the Gym Leaders were tough too. I should have watched the show more. Then I would have known what the types were for the leaders and stuff.

Overall, it was a great game!

Guess what arrived

by Kurt Zisa on 09-09-2014 at 03:16 PM

For some reason that came out sideways. I'm super excited to play this - too bad I won't be able to start it for another day or so, unless my gf has enough space on her ps3 for a temporary playthrough.

Looking forward to discussing this with you guys just as much. Yay!

1095 days

by Kurt Zisa on 01-22-2014 at 12:03 AM
It's been what, 4 months since I updated this? I've been meaning to since the start of the new year but I kept putting if off for a variety of reasons.

Had a pretty awesome few days of gaming. I beat The Emperor for the first time on Final Fantasy II, and completed Metal Gear Rising Revengence on Easy Mode.

Whenever I'd step foot into Pandemonium i'd get jumped by a group of Dark Knights, or Death Riders, or whatever they're called, and my party would get picked off one

Pokemon LeafGreen - Meet the Crew Part 2

by Kurt Zisa on 09-18-2013 at 07:22 PM
I know I said this wouldn't get updated all the time, but I figured it would be good to do it every time I beat a Gym, as they start to get a bit more spaced out from now on.

There aren't any new additions to my team, everyone has just leveled up 3 three times and have a couple new attacks.

After posting yesterday's Blog, my team and I have beaten our rival for the 3rd time. Despite having one less Pokemon we were a good two levels ahead of his strongest guy, so if anything

Pokemon LeafGreen - Meet the Crew

by Kurt Zisa on 09-18-2013 at 01:10 AM
After having Pokemon Blue for the past... 12ish years I've finally got a chance to play it's remake: LeafGreen, and aside from most of the music, I'm really enjoying it.

I want to make a sort of walkthrough Blog of the game as I play through it, just posting my team's stats, moves and my overall progress in the game. It'l be a bit like when I did the Final Fantasy IV Blogs a while ago which you can find if you look back to last year's entries.

Ok, on to the game!

We bought a wii

by Kurt Zisa on 08-04-2013 at 12:46 AM
And i'm not too sure what to do with it. A new EB Games opened up in a shopping center about 40 minutes away from where I lived, so my girlfriend and I went to check it out because why not.

Anyway they had this storewide sale and one of the things they were selling was a pre-owned wii for NZ$84 and then things went like this:

GF: It's so cheap!
Me: yeah i guess it is
GF: we need this!
Me:... really?
GF: We've always wanted one
Me: I only know
