Disgaea's likeness to Tactics ends with the concept of job based characters moving around a grid-based map with enemies laid out. As odd as it'll probably sound, next to Disgaea, FFT is shallow on a mechanics side. The games have progressively improved of the years to make them more friendly and less grind focused, but they are still very grind focused games. The main game can be beaten fairly easily without much grind, but any additional content will have you grinding out levels to 10,000 (9999 really, but close enough) and reincarnating to start the process over again. Sounds scary, but levels come pretty fast later in the game. But all weapons have a item world you can go inside to fight monsters and buff the weapon as well. And then there are the different things you can do on the battle field like picking up enemies or objects, throwing them, making towers of people stacked up and elemental tiles with different stats.

The Disgaea game is about zaniness and over the top numbers. Post-game you get damage into the millions or billions, same with your character stats as well. It's not going to be the same experience you get from FFT. As much as they are both tactics game, they are so different, it's not really worth considering them in the same group. You play Disgaea for a completely different reason than you play FFT. They're worth playing if they are the type of game you're looking for.

Aye, today! As in, 3.5 hours from right now, give or take a bit! I want to get the call started and have everyone on before we do the drawing.
  5. Your very welcome hun ^_^
  6. Cool ^_^ Anyway, TTT2 is pretty good, but only really fun when others play with you. Pokémon Y is taking over everything right now...LULZ If you wanna add me on my 3DS its: 5172-0324-2991. I also just started Playing MSGO("Mobile Suit Gundam: SD Capsule Fighter Online" for the PC). I have also been watching MSGW, and some LR: FFXIII Let's Play(Japanese of course).
  7. Yo, I got Y on the day of release, so if you want to add me, let me know. I finished the game, and will be breeding/training some new Pokémon for Online Play. Did you get any of the games yet? To answer your earlier question: I have been Playing Need for Speed Most Wanted 2012, Pokémon Black 2, Pokémon Y, Mortal Kombat 9, Tekken Revolution, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate: Core Fighters. Trying to finish Darksiders II, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Demon's Souls, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. What have you been up to?

Mine comes from two songs, well really one. 'Capital H' by Motion City Soundtrack, "I'm a Hero Zero with a capital Z (that's me)". Also in a Bad Religion song that i never noticed till my brother pointed it out while we were listening to 'Incomplete'.

Because I have been wondering this since joining this forum. Does your handle come from Kingdom Hearts, or are you the person who won the contest.

I haven't moved from that spot. I'm too worried about not being able to grab all the cool stuff I want/need to grab to continue you on. Right now I'm filling my time by playing LoZ: Oracle of Ages. xD

    Mmm, I'm undecided.

Russel Norman is far and away my favourite MP. Of the Greens, I like Holly Walker and Gareth Hughes too, but I don't think too highly of the rest of them... and least of all that annoying, self-righteous Catherine Delahunty.

Cunliffe is my preferred Labour Leader, and I'd like to see Jacinda Ardern as deputy, although I doubt the latter will happen. Even though I think Cunliffe is the electorate's favourite choice, he's not well liked in the caucus. I wouldn't be surprised if he did not become leader. The whole leadership stoush is really stupid though. Any policy they come up with is decided upon by the party and moderated by caucus. No matter who leads, the same policies will emerge. The difference is in emphasis, and the contest is a popularity one. It's a bit of a farce, and both Shearer and Goff will remain in the party and caucus. Nothing substantive changes.

I would not go near National with a 12-foot pole this election. I wouldn't normally (that's my bias), but man, they have just been shocking. At least three bills in the past year have been flagged by the Law Commission as contrary to the terms of the Bill of Rights Act. The GCSB bill is a prominent one (and JK's smug 'snapper' attitude really pisses me off), but one that actually affects me is the Family Carers Act (or whatever it is called, I forget). This was passed, under urgency, with the text allowing District Health Boards to decide definitively who is eligible for public money for the care of a disabled family member. (My little brother i severely autistic, in the interests of full disclosure here). By definitively I mean that their decision cannot, under any circumstance, be challenged in the court. If they were to say that I am not entitled to funding for caring for my little brother because I am... I don't know... black, or because I vote a certain way, or because of my religion, whatever... I cannot challenge that decision. They can discriminate in anyway whatsoever and there is absolutely no legal recourse, not even in the Supreme Court. The Bill was written because a contingent of families had complained that the DHBs were discriminating against family carers. That is, it is very easy to get the government to pay a private, non-family carer to do caring duties. But it is very difficult to get any money if you decide to do it yourself. This makes no sense: if I can get them to pay for a carer, I should be able to be paid to do the job myself (and probably better). The High Court said that the DHBs were being discriminatory by doing this. The National government responded by making the DHBs immune to the courts for this function.

National has a very cavalier attitude to the rule of law, and I find it concerning. When the GCSB was found to have illegally spied on 88 NZ residents and citizens, they responded by making it legal for the GCSB to do just that, and then Key said on national TV that his Bill just clarifies what the GCSB was already doing. That is correct, but what the GCSB had been doing was illegal. His stupidity and arrogance is almost unbelievable.

So. Sorry for that tangent. I don't know who I'll vote for. Probably no-one, because I can't find a party that only does things that I like. But it won't be National, and anyone who promises to have a 100% commitment to the Bill of Rights will get my vote. Especially if they state that they will make it a special piece of legislation that no other piece of legislation can override. At present it is no more special than any other Act of Parliament. It needs to be.
  13. Sorry Kurt...So many distractions have kept me from progressing more into FFVIII unfortunately. I will continue Playing it eventually, I just really want to finish some other stuff first before I delve into a new game(old game but new for me).

I am a huge fan of Metal Gear Solid, and Peace Walker just happens to be my favorite game on PsP, close second to MGS (PSOne) as far as series goes.

Everything good about Portable Ops is improved in Peace Walker, there so much going on in this game, recruiting soldiers (you can even recruit Hideo Kojima at one point), building your base, researching and acquiring weapons... Peace Walker is beyond a mere stealth game.

One thing I'm not really fond of are boss battles, villains in general, they were way more creative and fun to battle with in previous games, not saying they are overly bad in Peace Walker.

Also, Pupa made me curse this game =D

Guess what arrived

by Kurt Zisa on 09-09-2014 at 03:16 PM

For some reason that came out sideways. I'm super excited to play this - too bad I won't be able to start it for another day or so, unless my gf has enough space on her ps3 for a temporary playthrough.

Looking forward to discussing this with you guys just as much. Yay!

1095 days

by Kurt Zisa on 01-22-2014 at 12:03 AM
It's been what, 4 months since I updated this? I've been meaning to since the start of the new year but I kept putting if off for a variety of reasons.

Had a pretty awesome few days of gaming. I beat The Emperor for the first time on Final Fantasy II, and completed Metal Gear Rising Revengence on Easy Mode.

Whenever I'd step foot into Pandemonium i'd get jumped by a group of Dark Knights, or Death Riders, or whatever they're called, and my party would get picked off one

Pokemon LeafGreen - Meet the Crew Part 2

by Kurt Zisa on 09-18-2013 at 07:22 PM
I know I said this wouldn't get updated all the time, but I figured it would be good to do it every time I beat a Gym, as they start to get a bit more spaced out from now on.

There aren't any new additions to my team, everyone has just leveled up 3 three times and have a couple new attacks.

After posting yesterday's Blog, my team and I have beaten our rival for the 3rd time. Despite having one less Pokemon we were a good two levels ahead of his strongest guy, so if anything

Pokemon LeafGreen - Meet the Crew

by Kurt Zisa on 09-18-2013 at 01:10 AM
After having Pokemon Blue for the past... 12ish years I've finally got a chance to play it's remake: LeafGreen, and aside from most of the music, I'm really enjoying it.

I want to make a sort of walkthrough Blog of the game as I play through it, just posting my team's stats, moves and my overall progress in the game. It'l be a bit like when I did the Final Fantasy IV Blogs a while ago which you can find if you look back to last year's entries.

Ok, on to the game!

We bought a wii

by Kurt Zisa on 08-04-2013 at 12:46 AM
And i'm not too sure what to do with it. A new EB Games opened up in a shopping center about 40 minutes away from where I lived, so my girlfriend and I went to check it out because why not.

Anyway they had this storewide sale and one of the things they were selling was a pre-owned wii for NZ$84 and then things went like this:

GF: It's so cheap!
Me: yeah i guess it is
GF: we need this!
Me:... really?
GF: We've always wanted one
Me: I only know
