I've got two questions for ya:

What is art?

What is literature?

And we have Bachelor papers and when you graduate at the end of your Master a term paper.

So at the end of the third year you write a dissertation. And at the end of the fifth year you right a huge one.

Yeah, we have waaay to little grades for essay assignment.

Some part of the total grade for two classes is based on an essay, or three of them.
I had such a romantic image of University.
It gets better when you start your Master I think though.

And exams solely consisting of Mutiple Choice questions are absolutely ridiculous.

Yeah. It's a petty sometimes.
Even the most interesting classes and professors give ****ed up exams.

I think they want you to earn your grade, not just prove that you've studied enough.

haha. Do I hate exams.

Man, I hate it.

I like them if they're normal though. Like actually testing if you know what every kind of literature is blabla. Not the ****ed up questions you normally get at university.

I like discussing way better.

It always depends on what you were taught when you were young, I suppose. My mother is Protestant while my father is Catholic. So I saw both sides, although my mother influenced me more. She told me about religion first, my father didn't bother much about that. ^^" And of course my grandma also played a big role. She taught me some prayers (she's Protestant, too) and such stuff. So I didn't see much about the Catholics in my life. Unfortunately. We had one teacher who wanted to show us the differences in the religions but somehow there was nothing but small details. No real differences, mostly he told us what signs and symbols each had and such stuff. That's a bit sad, but I'm lacking motivation to study by myself. ^^"

I wouldn't call it strange. It was just stupid. XD" You shouldn't get VMs like that... that's just childish. :/

I'm not saying I don't see HOW he uses it. He just misinterprets it.

To explain it REALLY fast:
Descartes' philosophy is based on methodic & universal doubt. Which means the doubt is the method AND everything should be doubted.
First there's natural doubt: Is what I see/feel,... real, or just an illusion?
Secondly, hyperbolic doubt: Is everything just an illusion?
Thirdly, metafyscial doubt: What if I myself am not a certainty? What if there is a 'maline génie' (=bad genius, as in God with bad intentions) who makes me believe things etc.

He then explained how his doubting is exactly what gives him certainty about himself.
"Je pense, donc je suis" = "I think, therefor I am." is a quote that is (obviously) part of a text. The fact that I doubt about everything, means I am existing. "God" is not a 'malin génie' anymore.

That means I (the subject) can correspond with the world or what I see/experience/... (the object). I cán achieve real knowledge.

The quote is really part of a bigger whole.

But it's not the first time quotes are misued for people's own purpose.

Just think about the best-selling book ever: The Bible.
