Well, the Flag of the United Tribes has huge historical significance, and despite having a St George Cross, was actually chosen by Maori.

Poached information about the Flad of the United Tribes:

On 20 March 1834, 25 chiefs from the Far North and their followers gathered at Waitangi to choose a flag to represent New Zealand. The 'Flag of the United Tribes' was chosen as the flag and declared by James Busby to be the national flag of New Zealand. King William IV approved the flag, and a drawing of it was circulated through Admiralty with instructions to recognise it as New Zealand's flag. It became known as the Flag of the United Tribes of New Zealand in recognition of the title used by the same chiefs when they met again at Waitangi to sign the Declaration of Independence in 1835.

The flag has the red cross of St.George on a white background, with a smaller red St.George's cross in the top left hand corner on a blue background. The smaller cross had a wide black border and a white eight-pointed star featured in each of the blue quarters. The actual gazetted flag had the eight-pointed stars replaced with five-pointed stars and the black fimbriation returned to white. A further gazetted version had six-pointed stars. A still further variant was adopted as the house flag by Shaw, Savill and Albion, the shipping company. This version omitted the white fimbriation.

Our preference is for the original Flag of the United Tribes with the eight-pointed stars and black fimbriation - as a historical flag some people argue it has more relevance and distinction than the current blue ensign. While it is a traditional flag in its design it has huge historical relevance in the uniting of the Confederation of Chiefs, first in the flag and, then the following year in the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Of the colours, red has a strong basis in Maori symbolism yet forms the St.George cross, and the black fimbriation is very unusual in heraldry.

    This is a popular suggestion:

As is this, the tino rangatiratanga flag (c. 1990), although is heavily politicised and often used to signify Maori self-determination (some would say separatism).

Also, how is Tunisia? Est-ce que tu apprends beaucoup de français ?

    Nope, you're actually 320km closer!

    map:

Idk about the flag. There are lots of options. Schools routinely run competitions for kids to design new ones. I think it would most likely be the Silver Fern. I could live with that, although I see it more as a sporting flag and I think there are more meaningful options.

I like the design of the United Tribes flag:

Although now that I consider it, it looks like Australia + England.

Does Sir Aerif need love? I think about you often. Juuuuuust saying.

No, you didn't say anything about time. When you posted your journal, I of course took the bait and had to find out when you were leaving. Since I didn't know what time it was for you when you posted, I checked before making the guess.
  9. View Conversation
Of course. The very notion would be absurd.

Sir, a question. Are you on twitter by any chance? I think totally randomly that you tweeted Cilla the other day haha.
  11. View Conversation
But then think of the NZ and Aus flags?! Our backgrounds are that same shade of blue! Would they have to become white to match the new background? (Or maybe we can finally secede and get our own flag? Here's hoping.)
  12. View Conversation
What would happen to the Union Jack were Scotland to secede? It would affect so many flags!

No, I've been assured that it's only a parody. I'll leave if it gets serious. Not my style.

Also. TAKE A PHOTO OF WHAT YOU SEE FROM YOUR WINDOW.

I figured I'd tell you that the last two entries in your journal are exactly the same. It happens from time to time with me as well.

Officially speaking the last activity I had on these forums was in February 2015, five months ago. This activity coincided with a life changing event for me, in the form of a new job - the starting rung on a career - an opportunity as a designer at a AAA game studio, one which I won't name here to prevent any unfortunate paper trails - however I have a feeling a fair proportion of you already know. This exciting opportunity had the drawback of having to move to what is technically a different country

Winter Reflection

by Aerif on 12-27-2013 at 04:05 PM
It's becoming a habit of mine to take a relatively simple topic and stretch it out into several pages of writing that is of no interest to other people. This is why I will make an excellent academic.

Trailed thought. Let me start over.

It's becoming a habit of mine to take the time during the winter holidays to reflect upon the year that was, and unless I'm mistaken about my commitment to such a process this will be the seventh time I do so on TFF, to coincide with my eighth

[Hey pilgrims. Happy thanksgiving pilgrims.] Thoughts and prayers to those involved at Clutha.

by Aerif on 11-29-2013 at 06:01 PM
Well I guess it was yesterday. I did manage to say thanksgiving to an actual American though. He knows who he is.

Black Friday has always been a fascinating topic of conversation in the UK, since its slowly becoming an imported tradition. As far as I can tell Black Friday sales only began a few years ago - at least online - with Amazon selling Wiis and Xbox 360s for £50: a pretty amazing bargain even by today's standards.

This is the first year I've seen (or to better put

August. Fecking August was the last time I updated.

Of all people it was Loco who made me realise this by asking about my lack of logging into FFXIV. Presumably he is injured and has run out of people to contact.

Since my last posts, my situation has changed a fair bit. I live in the city now in the student accommodation I mentioned before, and am adjusting to life as a non-commuting student. Dundee, although small, is fairly pleasant.

Also they have this:

Ultros keeps getting hit by Thundaga

by Aerif on 08-25-2013 at 09:38 AM
One of the major benefits of Square Enix being a Japanese country is that all of the testing periods, and early access beginnings, and emergency down-period maintenance in Final Fantasy XIV have been happening at ideal times for European players. The Japanese 6pm start time has translated nicely into 10am start times in the UK.

For some strange reason however, the Early Access period which began yesterday morning has so far been afflicted by much more frequent downtime and maintenance
