Temporary Forum Closure, 24 September 2012

Just a heads up, the forums will be temporarily closed on 24 September 2012 for approximately five to ten minutes, in accordance with discussions in the Forum Consolidation topic.

This closure will be very short, but upon reopening, you may find that all of the previous threads are not yet in their proper places. The reasoning for this is that I would like to effectively minimize downtime as much as possible, so I will be creating the new sets of forums, enabling their prefixes, and then opening the forum back up for business. Over the next couple of hours after reopening, I will work on migrating all of the threads into their new destinations. They will not be inaccessible during this time, though - you will be able to reach them directly as they will still exist in the New Posts & Activity Stream areas, as well as from your User CP if they are topics you are subscribed to. I will have merely hidden their origin forums from view while I play clean up.

Assuming all goes as planned, the forums should close roughly 36 minutes after this post, at 01:00 Central, 07:00 GMT. During this time, I will un-hide and arrange the new forums, activate their prefix sets, and bring us back online.



edit: Scratch the original timeline - I am having difficulty with the prefixes. I want to do this all at once, so I still intend for this to happen within the next hour or so. Adding color is what is proving to be difficult.

edit again: Color is simple - it just doesn't look pretty in the adminCP. Turns out I was doing it properly all along. >_<

You will notice that the new forums are now in place. Many of the topics have not yet been migrated to their new destinations yet, but that is something which can be done while we are open. Feel free to explore the new categories. The new Final Fantasy sections will require that you select a prefix from the dropbox prior to creating a thread in order to help users quickly see what a topic may be related to.

I will continue to make little tweaks here and there as we move along over the next day or two, but the categories are in place and functional, which was the reason for shutting down temporarily. Things like titles and descriptions may change a little bit, and moderators will be restored over their new sections.

edit: The new Feedback forum now also requires a prefix to be selected from a dropbox.
