Major Forum Changes

Hello All -

I wanted to start a sticky thread for both Cesar and I to post announcements regarding the new forums. Most of the changes are very subtle to the naked eye, but the forums are much more secure now since we updated the latest version.

Unfortunately, not ALL of the hacks made it to this version either due to incompatibility or safety issues. I am sorry for this, but it was for the better good and only temp.

The only REAL loss was the VbPlaza... however there will be a new store coming in the next few weeks called iStore with similar and MORE options.

You CAN still earn Gold (now called Credits)

You CAN still use the arcade

there are NO more gifts or ribbons... I am sorry for this lose... They were REAL buggy and had to be dropped. If for some reason you are upset about this lose contact either me or Cesar and we can work out some sort of compensation. As I said before, there WILL be another store shortly where you can not only give gifts but do much more.

I've decided to lock this thread so that it may be read-only.

I will copy any logs of my changes here to this thread as well as continue to post them in the discussion thread.

NOTE: CHANGES TO FORUM

Quick note to any who care, there are a few things I'm changing to make your lives easier, and then a couple other little things that won't really affect much. Any post which contains such changes will be started just like this one, to call attention.

• Time limit for adding a poll to a thread is now ten minutes, up from the previous five.
• Time limit for changing a thread title is also ten minutes, up from five.
• You may now quote up to fifteen different posts within a single post via the "Quote" button -- this will relieve you from needing to manually create the quote tags in a multi-quote post.
• Thread titles may now have up to 100 characters, up from the previous 85.
• Visitors can no longer view active members.
• Users can now choose to display as few as five and as many as fifty posts per page when viewing threads.
• Registering members must pass image verification to be acknowledged.

A quick note not worthy of a major update:
Join Date is now one of the fields in the Member List.

REGARDING PRIVATE MESSAGING:

In realizing how many messages I've been sending back and forth with people lately, I've noticed that the members are at a bit of a disadvantage. Bigger, better servers call for bigger, better PM boxes, yes?

Here is the new layout (old values in parenthesis) --

MEMBER:
Max in storage - 200 (40)
Max recipients - 10 (5)

MODERATOR:
Max in storage - 500 (175)
Max recipients - 20 (5)

SUPERMODERATOR:
Max in storage - 2000 (400)
Max recipients - 20 (10)

ADMINISTRATOR:
Max in storage - 5000 (no change)
Max recipients - unlimited (no change)


(Max recipients refers to the number of people you can send a single message to at once.)
