HTML in Sigs BANNED

HTML in signatures is no longer allowed.

The two alternatives you'll need are the following:

Images
[ img ] www.wherever.com/yourimage[ /img ]
example: [ img ] thefinalfantasy.net/image/test.gif[ /img ]
*Note: IMG has a max width of 550 pixels.
If you make an image wider than this, it will receive a beautiful scroll bar... so keep that in mind. I'm tired of people breaking my layouts.

YouTube
[ youtube=Name] extension [ /youtube ]
example: [ youtube=Dramatic Chipmunk ]a1Y73sPHKxw[ /youtube ]

*Remember to remove the spaces.

This may well be me being a total spaz, you'll have to forgive me for not knowing what HTML is, but are links still allowed? Sorry if this is, as I suspect, one of the most redundant questions ever asked.

I use to use my sigs through that, but Ive changed it now

The question isn't "why can't you use it anymore?" but rather "why do you need HTML in the first place?" There is no need to have tables, divs, CSS, Javascript, PHP, whatever in your sig. The people who use it typically have no idea what they are doing and trash the layout. Of course, it is possible to do so with BBCode as well, but a lot easier to clean up and handled better by the software.

If you know of a feature you would like added to BBCode, feel free to post it and I will review it.

Well, while you're here Merlin, I asked Fuzz about this one time, but I've gone to other forums using vBulletin and they have it so that you can paste "Special Text" (Italics, Hyperlinks, etc) right into your post without the need to re-format it. Any idea on how to add that here? Fuzz seemed to have no idea.

Plus agreed on the whole HTML thing, I have no idea why it was added in the first place.

If you are using Internet Explorer, WYSIWYG is already supported. You have to switch editor modes in the post or your user profile. As far as I know, Firefox, etc still doesn't support WYSIWYG. If you are referring to something else, you'd have to point me to an example as I don't frequent other vB forums.

Okay I got it, yes it does seem to work in FF. You have to click that little A/A icon above the smilies. I guess the forums I've gone to enable it by default (???)

Probably. I don't have it enabled by default because as I just read from Jelsoft themselves:

Shouldn't you make this one of those fancy announcements that appear on the top of every board.

I mean, the signature contest got it and that didn't really affect that many people, but this affects many people so maybe it should be more... 'In your face?'

The only way people are going to see this is if someone posts in it and it appears in 'New Posts' or if for some reason they're browsing Forum Announcements.

This forum is for announcements. The title says it all. This forum was made for announcements and that is what it is used for. If you want to keep updated on TFF news, check this forum. Ignorance of the news is not a valid excuse. It's here for everyone to read. You can choose to read it or not. It's up to you.

On the other hand, if you make a topic about something clearly displayed in the news, don't complain when a mod bashes you upside the head.
