Forum Style/Theme Updates, etc

Hey guys,


I was bored today (and NOT busy for a change) and realized that the TFF forums really needed some visual updates... so I dived in to freshen some things up.

Some of the bigger changes include:


- Removed TFF Light style and updated the TFF BASE STYLE - which now matches the main site a lot better.
- Fixed some broken images in the PostBit template and cleaned up the formatting.
- Removed unnecessary ads that were in the way.
- New status icon sets.

I may continue to add/change some stuff, but just wanted to give the heads up. Also, please let me know if you find any bugs/errors and have any suggestions

Light still exists in the drop box, though I assume you're still working behind the scenes over there? The new base style looks good.

Yeah, I think TFF Light still shows up for you because you are an admin... because it shouldn't be visible for users.

Yeah, I haven't seen the new icons yet. TFF Base is a bit too bright for me though; it was hurtin' my sleep-deprived eyes and I had to switch back to TFF Dark. It did seem to match up with the main site though. And ditto to Yoko's request.

EDIT: Oh, now I see the new icons. Stylin'. Kinda miss Mog though.

I did most of the changes I did to TFF Base to TFF Dark already... so I'm not 100% sure I know what changes are left?? I think the only difference (other than the colors) is the logo and status icon set... should I update those to what TFF Base is using? And yes... CRYSTALS everhwere

You may have to refresh cache or close your browser to see all of the new changes. Lol - What Mog are you referring to? I didn't know he was hiding on our forums!

Mog lives! ...I think he used to be the icon that indicated whether there was a new post or not in a particular forum. Probably a long time ago. Also, I think maybe everyone means that new TFF logo at the top. Update TFF Dark to have that or something.

Keep the TFF Dark logo (currently the chocobo) although the Base TFF logo is good too, its nice to be different I guess. Other feedback might be needed on that one.

The Icons could use some crystalization xD. I like it.

In the process of checking out the TFF Base redesign, I did 2d3 Radiant damage to my retinas. I do like the crystals, however. Back to TFF Dark for me.

I went ahead and renamed the TFF BASE Style to just TFF Crystal... so don't get confused if you have to re-select a style. Seems like TFF Crystal works for some and not for others, which is OK! I like to switch back and forth from time to time to keeps things different. I will be making some more modifications to both styles over the next few days. If I make any large adjustments I will be sure to share

Imo get rid of either Cloud of Sephiroth on this TFF Light/Base theme. I just don't think it should have 2 FFVII. Change it up, make it Squall or Auron or something.

Damn, I knew someone would call me out I agree 100%... I tried putting Kain in there to help represent the classics more but it didn't look right... I thought of both Squall and Auron... as well as Tidus. I'll keep playing around, thanks for feedback.

I thought of throwing Tidus in the suggestion but I got a feeling people would complain that he's in it lol.

Are all the Dissidia Kain shots that bad? I never looked for any CG Kain. Nothing from FFIX seems fitting IMO maybe Amarant but he's like more minor then Quina, Freya but she's the most major minor character I feel since Eiko is half and half with the major and minor I feel.

Auron would be cool to have, not close to VII because I feel Squall and Cloud are just to similar in terms of fan favorites.

Yeah, I thought of everything you just said, as well... I was looking at the Dissidia Kains and even those seemed off... I have Auron in there now and it seems to work pretty well in there. Of course I may still continue to play around. Thanks again for feedback.

It may just be me used to the old one but the Noctis guy, Rinoa and Lightning was just really good haha. Auron doesn't look to bad, I think it's just cause not used to the new look. Looks good, if I think of someone else I'll shoot a VM or something.

I can put that banner you are referring to back in the DARK theme, but it doesn't translate well to this light version - hence the reason I had to make a new one

I am by no means a graphic designer, so I am always going back and forth on if I like something or not... right now I like this, but tomorrow I may think it looks stupid... We'll keep it like it is now and see where it goes. I think having some characters/graphics in the banner definitely helps give the theme some more life.

I am a graphic designer! I just don't have any of the programs I went to school for on my computer.

Thanks, loaf! ^^ I'm glad you like the old one, makes me happy to hear people enjoyed it. If you want Fuzz I can work on making something new for you if you want. Though haven't we had unique banners per layout before? The old dark banner was unique to dark, I think you had a simple chocobo or crystal for the previous light.

Yo Fuzz, I am loving the new theme for TFF! Keep up the good work! Oooh, I was wondering, would you be open to maybe making a special one with epic pics of summons or something? I would love that as my TFF theme for when I am on here. Summons are a very important part of FF in general, and I love the concept of them as part of the battle systems. Just a suggestion. Dark version of this would be cool as well. The crystals would look cool against the black or dark theme.
