    Star Trek 2009

So I saw the new movie today, and I have to say.. it was AWESOME! A lot of you are in your teens or early 20s(like me), so you might have never watched it or took interest. But if you love the Sci-Fi genre, this is a must see. It's good enough to interest the new generation and satisfy the old trekkie fans as well.

So has anyone else seen it? If so, what was your opinion and whatnot?

Here is a link for those who don't know what I'm talking about(and you should smack yourself in the face while you're at it if you don't): http://www.startrekmovie.com/

I went in with very low expectations and was pleasntly surprised.
    Spoiler:
Solid sci-fi movie re-invented but keeping the same elements as the last. I thought the black hole/time travel thing was a very smart move, resulted in killing off kirks father leaving him fatherless, which led him on a different more rogue like childhood this time round.

Apart from the few plot holes like Kirk being shipped to an ice planet instead of just being put into a cell and strangely resulting in bumping into Spock prime, all abit too convenient

I also felt the film tried to be too funny, but who am i to complain? i chuckled at most if not all of the humor parts.

Overall a solid movie and left me satisfied exiting the theater, which is a very rare in this day of BS hollywood is spewing out these days. Especially remake/reboots

All the media ar Star Trek this, Star Trek that, but is it really that good?

I never liked the "ST: Voyager" series because I was more of a Star Wars guy.

Have they lost that old campy style without losing the humour?

And does Zachary Quinto (a.k.a. our friend "Sylar") make a good Spock?

    thanks,

I've never been a Trekkie... just a pure Star Wars fan... but I've heard so many positive things about this movie.
When I get back to 'home' I will most certainly be hopping into the cinema to see it from an unbiased point of view (of course ).
Good to see it's still being given good rep ^^.

I went to this movie with my friends the weekend it came out, not really expecting much. I'm not a huge Star Trek fan-though I've seen most the movies-but they all are. And one of my friends said this was the best Star Trek-related thing he had ever seen. I agree. This is probably my favorite movie I've seen all year; better than even Watchmen or Gran Torino (sorry Clint.) This movie had Lost written all over it, seeing as the creator, JJ Abrams, directed it. Particularly the beginning, with the music overriding most all other sounds in an emotional scene.

I loved Eomer (don't remember his real name right now...) as Bones, and Simon Pegg as Scotty. In fact, everyone did a really good job with their respective rolls. I also loved the humor. Yeah; great movie, all around. Might even buy it on DvD. Anyhoo...

I love Star Trek. I love Star Wars too, but I watched a LOT of Star Trek as a kid. Mostly Next Generation (PICARD!), but I liked the original series as well.

And I liked this movie. I really liked this movie. It was exciting in a really fun action movie kind of way. You know how some action films (like say, the new Terminator film, which I haven't seen, but from the preview I imagine it's this way) are relentless and almost exhaust you? Not this film. It's all fun. And people who have never seen Star Trek won't be lost. But those of us who have get plenty of things to geek out over.

And they did well with casting, I think. Especially McCoy. I mean damn.

And you can bet your ass they're making a sequel.

Also, I love Simon Pegg (Scotty).
    Curious?

This movie was amazing, maybe the best I've seen this year although I can't say that was the best Star Trek movie I've seen. My brother also loved it and that's says something because he's an hardcore trakkie.

The thing that i like the most about this movies are the actors, they did an excellent job portraying the characters from the original Star Trek. Leonard Nimoy as Spock and Karl Urban as Bones were excellent, the best in my opinion. The story was interesting, special effects were superbly done and I really appreciate the high doze of humor this movie generates, just what a Star Trek movie needed.

I've watched it twice so far and I've bought a DVD, can't wait for a sequel.

My guy and I watched it this past weekend. We really liked it! Although I am more used to duder as Sylar than Young Spock. When he'd be pissed I kept expecting him to raise his hand up and slice open someone's head.

I've never been a fan of the series, but my friend is and she asked if we could watch that when we met up. I'm not one for arguing, and I wanted to see my friend, so I went feeling a little sceptical.

It proved me wrong. It was a very enjoyable film, and I quickly got into it and picked up certain things quickly. Almost cried at the start - I guess that helped with the whole tug at the heart strings approach. But yes, I enjoyed it, and it's definitely something I'd watch again.

I'm having a hard time convincing the folk at home it's good though.

Really loved this movie, thought that the story was awesome! Especially liked the Romulans, they were wrong, but not evil. Also, all of the acting was awesome, and I have to say that Red-Headed green chicks are HOT!

    Re: Star Trek 2009

I'm and hardcore f*cking Trekkie, and dammit Jim, I love this movie.

Every character was extremely well cast (though after seeing Heroes, I keep expecting Spock to eat Kirk's brain after the Kobiyashi Maru test), the story falls very well in line with traditional Star Trek mythos, and it brings that pulse racing action that the previous films tended to lack [Though I do love the ending battle scene in Star Trek VI. Nothing like the merciless taunting of a Shakespeare-spewing Klingon to get your blood boiling. I am constant as the northern star!]. I think I peed a little when the Enterprise came out of warp firing f*cking everything. That shit rivaled (i.e. completely demolished) Picard smashing the Enterprise into Shinzon's Scimitar in Nemesis.

Ok, nerdiness overload. tl;dr, I love this damn movie.

Has anyone in this family ever even seen a chicken?
