    End of the World movie!

Well, I've been looking ariund the internet hoping to find some cool upcoming movies (since nothing good is out right now), and I found out about the film 2012. It's directed by Roland Emmerich who also made: Stargate, Independance Day, the Godzilla remake, The Day after Tomorrow, The Patriot, and 10,000 B.C......I'll wait so you can take that all in.....ready?Anyway, judging by the trailer, this is a basic CGI-fest. Although, something about those visuals seems...different, like they're in super-HD. The symbolism is too blatent for my taste (like the crack in the Sistine Chapel that formed perfectly between God's finger and Adam's finger). So, will any of you see this movie, or should Emmerich be locked up with Micheal Bay in confinement until they get over their fetish for things that go "BOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!!!"

Here's the trailer: 2012 trailers and video clips on Yahoo! Movies
    "Take a chance.....roll the dice.......pick a card....whatever suits your game.....you'll lose either way...."

Those movies are all so typical and I could only enjoy them if I were a kid.

and about that lame symbolism. It's those coincidental elements that make a movie really lame. Just think of the crack in the ground going between some guy's legs in the Godzilla movie.

Yeah, I won't go see this one.

Yeah, I won't go see this one.
Awwww thats sad Rags i am i loved The Day after Tomorrow and i Love Stargate so i am sure this one will be good, there is nothing more that i love than possible apocalyptic situations haha. What really caught me is the fact that they mentioned that ancient civilizations had predicted the end of the world hundreds and thousands of years ago it is also a mystery how they knew about the solar system eclipses etc they used to follow the stars and astronomy a lot those ones haha, getting back on track i was drawn in because there is a series of books i like that is about a team of people finding ancient evidence that predicts the end of the world and they discover that there may have been advanced ancient civilization millions of years ago so yeah the start of that trailer reminded me of that. I probably won't go out of my way to go to the theartres to see that one maybe just wait till it hits the video stores.

I'm assuming that this 2012 movie is based off of the nut job theories about the Mayans predicting the world will come to an end on December 21, 2012, and if that's correct, then this movie is going to seem very stupid when people are watching it on January 1, 2013, after literally nothing happened in 2012 to spell out the end of the world. The preview makes the film seem like a CGI-POS, but for some reason, people love seeing things, especially national or world landmarks, being destroyed, so of course it's going to draw a crowd. I'll probably see it merely because John Cusack's in it. He's a hell of an actor, but in a movie like this, he'll end up being the only thing carrying it.

Well I liked The Day After Tomorrow too, but those other films are not my style and actually I don't find them to be good at all.

@ Dr. Egon Spengler: I hear what you're saying. Although I can't recall any qualitative movies he was in.

Yes quite true Egon he is a brilliant actor and may be the only good thing about the movie but we will see. I love his sarcastic style of acting i loved One Crazy Summer and 1408 the most.

I am actually looking forward to this movie. I like the cool conspiracys that ancient civilizations came up with and the Mayans are a very interesting civilization. And yeah having the world destroyed is entertaining to watch. As long as it doesn't really happen. And the way the world is going I wouldn't be surprised if we blew ourselves up in a few years anyway.

I may or may not see it. If i decide not to see it intheatres i'll probably rent it one night. It did cause all this hype a while back saying that 2012 is the end of the world. I guess if you read the facts the mayan calender ends dec 21st 2012 or something and thats whta the movie is based on. But a few months ago I remember reading articles about is 2012 really the end? and theres tons of books on this in bookstores. But,it does seem pretty interesting. I'll have to wait and see more about it as it comes close to coming out then i'll decide. To me any movie is worth seeing then you make your decision if you like it or not. Kinda like the saying "don't judge a book by it's cover" i wanna say "don't judge a movie til you see it"

The Mayans certainly were a very interesting civilization - good to look up when you have a few hours spare to do some research on them. But then again... most ancient civilizations are always good to look up.

Its one of the reasons I I'd like to see this movie. Yeah, I don't believe the world will end on the said date (even though I'll be the first to hide under my bed and pray to a God I don't believe in when the day comes along), but it'll be good. But my point is if you are interested in this sort of thing, then... why the hell not? =]

Also, the special effects in The Day After Tomorrow were pretty good, so... this has got to beat that by a long shot ya?

I loved independance day and the 1st two terminator films, but there are sooo many of these "end of the world" film, they just don't appeal to me anymore, it's pretty much all the same, you always know how it's going to end. There are bad people and then BOOM, end of the world.

This is the first time that a crackpot religious doomsday theory has had the internet at its disposal. Nutcases are uniting as never before, and Hollywood smells money.

WTF is the guy from Grosse Point Blank doing in this?

It shall suck. The glitzied made-for-TV special since War of the Worlds. It will make megabucks.
