Help, please.

So, I have a performing arts portfolio to do and for my performance I'll be playing a abusive wife, and it would be really helpful to look at past performances of domestic abuse. Also, doing so will really boost up my portfolio.

However, I can't seem to find any films with women abusing men. Sooo, if you guys could suggest any to me if you know of any, that would be fan-dabby-dosey. I have two at the moment, one being Misery and the other being Antwon Fisher? Haven't seen the latter yet, so I don't know if it'll be of any use.

And it doesn't really need to be abusive women, it could even be an abusive male role, I could learn some aspects from that too.

It's mainly just to get a feel of my character, I'm not really a very abusive kind, to be honest, so I'm having a slight bit of trouble, heh.

That's because there's hardly any abusive women at all in films. If you want that, try anime or porn.

But abusive roles in general.. it's really not that hard. Just treat the person like crap. Bitch slap a little bit.. be generally mean-hearted, etc.

I really don't know what kind of films to suggest.

One great abusive performance I can think of( sorry, its a male) is Marlon Brandos character in "A Streetcar named Desire". The characters name is Stanley Kowalski as far as I know.

EDIT:Sorry I just thought of a great one and its female too. The character Lady Kaede in Akira Kurosawas "Ran" is really abusive. The female character in another of his movies "Rashomon" can be abusive at times during the movie. The name of the character escapes me for the moment. And as regards more male ones the relationship between Micheal and Kate in "The Godfather II", Micheals sister and her husband in the first "Godfather" and it isnt between spouses but Edward Norton portrays an abusive character perfectly in " American History X".

Also, I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but in the film Goodnight Mr Tom, the boy William is abused by his mother. I can't remember how much of it is seen, but the after-effects are really sad. ;-;

=O Goodnight Mr Tom! Why didn't I think of that? That's perfect =P. 'Cause she's crazy, too, which is exactly what I need. My character has a split personality, and one minute she's nice, the other she's a bitch. So thanks, that's great ^___^.

Sorry if I'm a little late to the party here, but if you're still looking for classic examples of abuse, I have to recommend Broken Blossoms. It's a beautiful silent film from 1919 that portrays a tragic example of a father abusing his daughter. I think it's archived, so you can legally download it for free.

If you're looking for more of an emotional abuse, you might want to take a look at The 400 Blows, where the main character is basically emotionally neglected by his parents.

There are a bunch more, but I'm pretty much blanking at the moment, so I hope these help.

i dont know any films but there's a book that is great for this topic and its called "a child called it". really sad. the mother abuses the child, so i guess its quite similar to women abuses men. i dont know if it will help but it could give you some ideas...dont want to spoil it for anyone so you should check it out here...

and also to feel for the people that do get abuse. people dont actually realize the truth until they have encountered this book. and to put themselves in the character's shoes.

Misery has been mentioned but not Dolores Claiborn. Dolores Claiborn (also a Stephen King story) is a pretty heavy movie to watch, but it has a little bit of what you are looking for.
