    Attack of the Clones

Alot of people I know seem to be at either end of an extreme on this one. What do you all think about Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the clones?

Lucas's masterpeice of Modern Science fiction?
Or was Ed Wood channeling through Lucas to make his final film?

    Re: Attack of the Clones

I am a huge Star Wars fan, and while Epi II was no where near the best in the series, I love it.

I think a lot of people didn't like that the film was mostly revolved around Anakin and Padmé. To me though, it was absolutely necessary. It would have been no good if it was like 'oo now we're suddenly in love, now lets see some lasers'. Epi II is great because it allows you to get emotionally involved with Anakin, even though you know where he eventually ends up.

Asides from that, the effects are awesome, and this film has one of my favourite lightsaber duels of the entire series.

    Re: Attack of the Clones

did this thread spark from the fact that some channel yesterday played it like 3 times in a row?

i would'nt say it was "bad" but it was definitely not one of the better ones. it was a typical middle-of-a-trilogy film that focus' more on character development and events leading up to the final film.
george lucas had a lot to live up to - his original trilogy was absolutely epic and now he tried to do a trilogy of prequels to said epic. i had little faith in the man after seeing 'the phantom menace' (jar jar/pod racing scene) but then redeemed himself in 'revenge of the sith'

I'll be honest, I thought the Podracing scene in Epi I was the best part of the entire film. Especially the extended version on the DVD.
