How much is expensive? It's only around £40! It's like FFX. Except cheaper...

  2. #32
Well i'd consider cheap as like 10-15 quid, so 40 quid is expensive , either way thats what he needs

    Thanks everybody!
Ill be cheap and get if off of Kazaa, in fact im doing now.

Okay, now this is something Daweezy would be great at.

Could someone find a way to make this smaller?
I already took away transparency and took away some colors, but it still dont fit.

    Any help?

it fits in attachment, and its 70 by 68, so its small enough pixel wise.

The gif has too many frames. Take out every 3 or 4 frames.

    I wanna ask two questions.

Is there anyway, when you save your banners the quality or the color doesn't get yucky? Because everytime I save my banners...somehow there color has become more dull and grey.

Also, where or how do you get those lines which make your banner look pretty computerish?

I don't exactly know how to explain it..but something like that =P.

I'm gunna take a stab in the dark and say your using photoshop, so here goes...

    1. You need to change the colour settings on photoshop, it takes time, i had to do this a while ago and i can't remember where the settings are :S

    2. If by 'computerish' you mean scanlines then do this. Make an image 1px wide, and 2px high, make sure its completely transparent, then fill 1 pixel in black (so half is black and the other is transparent). Then click on edit->define pattern, name it scanlines. Close this image, you don't have to save it. Open up the image you want to have scanlines on and click edit->fill,

in the contents drop down box, choose pattern, then where it says custom pattern, choose scanlines. I'd suggest setting the opacity to around 50%, but its completely your choice. Click on and voila scanlines

hey everyone...i had a question. on friday im getting cable modem and what we're doing..instead of buying two modems...we're getting one modem and a wireless router. we're putting the modem and router in my room so i can hook the modem up to my ps2 and go online (wwwoooo!). but i was wonderin how the wireless router works and how we set it up...? can some on just give me some more information. also, the dude is coming to install all the stuff on friday and i was just wonderin what the hell he's gonna have to do on my computer! thanks for anyone who helps me. ^!^

First, congrats on getting both Cable Internet and a wireless router. Installations and set ups varies, but they're similar. You said someone will come and install a cable line to your house. If your room does not already have a cable jack, the technician will install one. This requires drilling a hole in one of your walls. That's what happened with mine, at least. So, look forward to moving furnitures around. After a line is installed in your room, you may or may not get a cable splitter installed as well. depending on whether you are a cable TV customer.

The next step, is to hook up a coaxial cable line from the cable jack to your modem. Then, use a CAT 5 crossover cable and connect your modem to your wireless router. Your wireless router will probably use the WiFi 802.11b protocol. I believe it has a range of 150 feet. You'll want to place the router away from cordless phones and microwaves. just a precaution against interferance. Now, since you will connect your PS 2 into your home network, and the PS 2 does not support wireless connection as far as I know, you're going to need to get another CAT 5 crossover cable and connect your PS 2 to your router. I think most wireless routers also supports wired connections. If not, well, you're screwed. Your computer(s) must support wireless networking. So, they should have the appropriate wireless network cards installed. If not, you just wasted money on a wireless router!

Now, the fun part... once everything is connected, you'll need to set network perimeters for each station. If you're lucky, the technician will set everything up for you. Otherwise, he or she will hand you an installation and set up CD. Just follow the instructions on the program within as it walks you through the process. The PS 2 should come with a set up CD as well. Once everything is properl set up, you have a working home network connected to the Internet at high speeds.

fist of all sam...thank u very much. so..i went to bestbuy today to get the wireless router and i got a "Linksys" wireless access point router with 4 port switch....now what i didn't understand was how the hell my dad was gonna get the signal from the wireless router. so we went and the dude there told us that we needed to buy a wireless pci card (thast where i started to understand). so i got the pci card (75 bucks worth) and the wireless router (a big ol 100 bucks) and now im waiting for the guy to come on friday to hook up my cable modem? now i have another question...i have a cable jack in my room but its like on the other side....is that gonna be a problem? or can he just run a cord all the way across the room? oh yeah, and how hard is it to install the wireless pci card. not to configure it, but to acutally put it in my comp. once again thank you and i'll let you know how it goes! *anticipates the day when he finally recieves his long awaited cable modem*

  10. #40
My cable jack isn't near my modem either. You can just run the wire around the edge of your room away from foot traffic.

As for installing wireless cards, I've never done anything like that on a PC. But it shouldn't be difficult...

im confused about what u just asked osirus. if im understanding right, all you want is to put a shadow behind your "guy." and to do that all you do is double click on the layer with the "guy" on it in the layer palette and then there should be an option that says shadow or something very similiar to that (i don't have ps open right now) just click on that and set the settings to as you wish. i hope that was what you were asking, if not then just tell me what you really want.

okay now i have two questions. im making a website for my grandma (lol) and i don't really know how to work with meta tags...can someone help me with those....sam. and i was also wondering if anybody knows a cheap website hosting place. not a free one cuz i actually want it to be a real web address. thanx!

  15. #45
Osirus, try Drop Shadow or Outer Glow on the layer youre working on (double lcick on teh layer in the layer menu).

Eh, I dont know abt meta tags (Ive never used them or thought of using them) so you cant ask me abt it. But for good hosting, Netrillium has a pretty nice package. Id suggest my friend but one, he doesnt have any more space on his reseller, and two, hes a reseller for Netrillium anyway lol. *copies and pastes list from another site, specifically Shia's XD*

You can do Drop Shadow, or another technique which I declined to mention previously because I was too damn lazy. Basically, you duplicate the layer of the item, then on that layer, you check the box for PRESERVE TRANSPARENCY. In Photoshop 6, itll be the checkerboard hting. I dont know abt other vsns or programs. Once you do that, fill in the layer with black. Uncheck the PRESERVE TRANSPARENCY thing, and then apply GAUSSIAN BLUR until satisfied (XD). Move the layer under the original layer, and then position it in the place you want to. Fiddle around with opacity and Layer Style if you want. But of course, that's the hard way. You can always just go to Drop Shadow and fiddle around.

Yeh i had that problem a while back, its quite simple really....there's a switch to imageready button in photoshop (and a switch to photoshop button in imageready), simple load your banner in photoshop and click the switch button, then put your gif on the banner and save the banner as a .gif

I'm not sure if we're supposed to ask about HTML stuff.

You know when using a banner to link to a site or a thread? How do you make it so that there isn't this great big thick ugly black line surrounding the banner?

If you don't exactly understand what I mean...look at my first two banners in my sig.
