Wait, there's blue writing about piracy? I've never seen that on any of my games, PS1, or PS2. My theory is that maybe the ps2 is detecting a corruption in the disk. Try Cleaning it with Rubbing Alcohol and a cotton ball.

Also, where during load does the blue writing come up?

hmm, Do you have one of the newer (thin) PLaystation 2's? The only thing I can really think of, if the disk isn't scratched is that the newer ps2s have weaker support for PSOne games. I have an older (fat) ps2, and it runs all of my disks fine.

I had the same thing. The slim one also has issues in terms of having a hard drive installed and using the vast majority of third party light gun accessories around. On the positive side it seemed to be more tolerant to DVDs than my bigger PS2.

Regardless, I'd recommend just looking at some second hand stores for a cheap big PS2. Just make sure it works or they allow returns for nonworking consoles.

yeah maybe it is the tele. i get this depending on what tv i connect my ps2 up to. on my nans tele in her room (i use it when she goes away on hols and stuff cos its a massive widescreen one!), i notice small lines that move from the bottom of the screen, to the top. it don't show in some games, but its still there. on my tele its pretty much fine, although in dark games or when the screen goes dark, there is a small white light at the top (its not a missing pixel though). on the tele in my living room, everything goes shakey, and you get a headache after a few mins of play time.

so yeah, could be the tele...

If the TV is a progressive scan LCD, then that is probably your problem. I can't play certain old (2000 and before) PS1 games with my progressive scan LCD. The video displays odd wide scan lines and doesn't refresh the picture at all. The video format of it is simply not compatible.

Try moving your PS2 to a different TV, hooking it up, and testing it out there. You'll probably be able to play them there.

Sorry to be late to post.
