I just noticed something about this club that's currently going on that only a few people can notice.

This club is just endlessly planning and planning. If we keep doing this, nothing will ever get done. So let's just stop discussing future ideas or whatever, and stop bringing up past discussions that have been finalized. Let's just get things going for now, and when we're under way, then perhaps we can talk about more ideas down the road.

Ok, so let's just wrap up the major issues at hand. Everything else can come later.

Inner RP. My post on this is a few pages back, and we're also going to incorpoate DH's battlefields idea into it. The inner RP will set the mood for the club. It will, in a sense, be the club. You don't have to write for it in every post, but it will affect a lot of what you do.

Tournament. Who's pariticpating? Who's not? Who doesn't care enough to post?

I think that's it. Other things to buff things up should be put on hold, like Toph said. And, if any of the leaders believe something else should be added to this, then add it. Heh. But don't go adding on a bunch of stuff, or we're right back to where we started.

Thank you Aerif. ^^ Hopefully I'm not too out of practice.

Just a thought, but even though we don't have a ranking system, would it still be appropriate to keep a running tally of everyone's wins, losses, draws, and notable achievements? Seems kind of silly to not keep track of official matches, at least.

Yeah, keeping a tab like that is fine. It doesn't really mean anything anyway, just a stat record. So yeah, that'd be okay to do. I don't have a problem with it. It can be put in our signatures or something, along with in the first post.

Thanks for the positive and negatives, I like being told whether I’m thinking along the right lines. I’ll write up some characters too, with original personalities. Xeim it is inevitable yeah, but only in the things you say, everybody uses their own minds to come up with things so in that respect it is inevitable, but hopefully this will at least broaden what people use i.e if we say the character is nice/decent or has a moral perspective when somebody usually goes for a ‘bad-ass’ approach then this may be more of a challenge for them and, like Toph said, broaden their creativity. It was the best way around some things that I could think of and I think that if everyone tries then it can be pulled off an will help them a lot too.

I know, I was just giving input. That’s all; you can change perspective with just a few simple words and maybe help people to think differently. I was only making suggestions.

I’ll look forward to out fight DH. That’s if it isn’t already up, I haven’t checked yet as I only just came on. Thanks to Aerif for accepting.

Like I said, I’m in the tournament. I think that was already written down.

Aerif and Xeim, if you both agree I’d quite like to try out the random character allocation out in an RP I am coming up with, so if I post you both the details would you be interested in creating some?

EDIT: Sorry DH, just noticed that it is up. Could you provide a link to your character for me. Mine will be Nkomis, I realise she is water based and that this is taking place in a desert but to me that makes it all the more interesting. Means I'll have to work harder to win.

Hopefully my post should be up tonight, I just have to study the lanscape as written in ToA and write a decent post reflecting it. So yeah, tonight, hopefully.

    Thanks, Aimee.

Just wanted to throw out there that I will certainly participate in this tournament. I was beat to the punch on accepting DH's challenge, so I'm willing to throw out an open challenge of my own. I've not RPBed since the last TOA, and even then I barely tried with circumstances that arose during said tournament. Any takers?

And sis, we'll clash in that tourney at some point, I am sure. Be ready. =P
OLD SKOOL - A positive appellation referring to when things weren't flashy but empty of substance, were done by hard work, didn't pander to the lowest common denominator, and required real skill. Labour-saving devices, shortcuts that reduce quality and quitting before the task is done are not characteristics of "old skool."

In reference to computer games, refers to a game that had substantial playability without flashy graphics or eye candy. Old skool gamers appreciate difficult maneuvers, careful planning, and scorched earth policies.

In reference to role-playing games, old skool refers to games that tested players' wits, could kill off careless characters, and required dedication and inner strength to play. Old skool games didn't pander to the ideas that everyone is created equal, that all options are open to all races, that the markets were somehow free, and that a quasi-medieval society could have near 100% literacy.

Blah, apparently my profile was somehow deleted from the stats thread. Or maybe I never reposted it when the original was lost. Can't remember which. So for the moment, this is an old version of her profile, I'll have to rewrite it at some point. But anyways, all the basics are there.

The random character thing sounds kind of neat, too. I wouldn't mind trying it out at some point.

Bro, I'm always ready. It'll be a good one, that's for sure.

So I have my eight people for the tournament. I'll assign people letters or something and have an outsider make their choices. Similar to what Cesar does with the TOA. =P

Hmm...I was just thinking about it, and I have a suggestion for the random characters. Instead of making one or two people do all the work, how about make it a group project? Anyone who wants to participate in the battles can design 2-3 characters of their own to be added to the mix. There's a chance that they can draw their own characters, but that just adds to the fun. ^^

Okay, I have received the randomized order of letters. And am now going to post up the tournament bracket.

D vs E - Red vs Prodigal Madness
    F vs C - Darkwolf vs Hyzenthlay
G vs A - DragonHeart vs Toph Bei Fong
    B vs H - Xeim vs Psiko

So, I'll have these threads up sometime within the week (unless that's too soon). Aerif'll have to judge the tournament since two judges are in it. XD;; Unless we get the services of Spike or psychosyd, though.

Also, those who are in the tournament, please register which character you are going to use in it. No changing characters during the tournament, please. No.. changing anything about the characters you're using, either.

Oh yeah, and I should probably drop a line.

You know, since I got that PM forever and a day ago.

I'll be active after the holiday shopping season ends. Someone remind me and I might actually have time to participate in some club events and such.

    Hmm... Five matches.

Still, it's unlikely that they'll finish at the same time, so perhaps it's not as much work as it seems

No worries, judging usually isn't too bad. At least in the TOA, there's generally at least one win by default, heh. And to make it easier on you, I'm putting my other battle on hold until the tournament is over. So don't worry about that one for now. ^^

Hmm...I was originally going to say something else but now I can't remember what it was. I hate it when that happens.

Right, our battle is on hold then. I'll still put up my intro post, just so we are at least up to there when we get back on track.

Darkwolf is mine then, like I said on the actual profile page i'll use Nkomis for most of the club activities and this will be no exception. So prepare around her if you want Darkwolf. Just to clarify Toph, battlegrounds are picked at random too?

    EDIT:

Thanks for more positives DH. I think your idea to let people design some if they want is great too; could further boost creativity and that was the original aim... We just need to make sure people are thorough and outlandish with their character idea's because if their characters don't have enough detail the whole idea could crumble.

    Lets get this tournament on.

    Thanks Aimee

Yes, and we've decided to have those who register characters also submit a battlefield for the tournament to use. I think that's fairly reasonable. =P

cool, we have our 8 xD

Alright, I will be using my character Dragoth as he is the one I work best with. I look forward to a good tournament and some good battles. Hopefully everything sets up quickly.

This is what I was putting on the previous page but I thought people would miss it if I did.

The only way for it to make sense would be to enforce a rule that people couldn't edit their characters unless they buy something. And winners of matches could be awarded "money." But that's severly limiting. Plus, I think you all reached a conclusion anyway. I say just stick to Rping the academy. It'd allow for critique and praise on a smaller scale that would make official club writes more enjoyable.

I never did comment on this, the only point I don’t really like is the last one. I’d find it really hard doing it, having a character based around my own personality and then fight, It wouldn’t really work very well, so can I ask to just have Nkomis as “me” I’ll just speak the same but Id feel more like I were using one character than two. If you don’t understand what I’m talking about then I’ll leave it.

I do want to ask this though, if we are all attending the same academy we’d be like “he nice fight against ~random name~” or “What the hell were you thinking using a sword against him?” and so on right? That sounds like a good way to get that across; I’ll have a blast with this.

Oh and Toph, thank you for clearing my mind on that. I got your very subtle hint there and I’ll create a map based around my character, okay? That way I can at least dream of fighting in the perfect environment and I’d love to see how people tackle it too.

    Thanks, Aimee.

Ok, well, you don't fight with the character you have in the Academy. You still fight with Nkomis. See, YOU go to the academy to better your writing skills. For the sake of an RP, all we're limiting the characters on are their personality. And we're only limiting the personality because the character is you. Does...that make sense? I can be confusing sometimes...

And yes, we all attend the same academy, just like we're all in this same club. ^^

Whoah, so I'm up against Psiko? I recently created another character, so I'm going to have to hold off a little on deciding who to use. So uhm, I'll get back to you. xD

I is going to die. O_O <--- bad grammar

Ok, I'll be using my character Luedeth. Rather short profile I know, but I don't want to start out with anything too fancy. I'll just confuse myself. xD

I'll design a battlefield soon, but since I'm new to designing battlefields...expect it to take a while. xD

    Alright, here's my battleground then.

    Highrise Stadium~

Both fighters enter on opposite sides onto platforms. Once everything is set they are raised to the upper level of the stadium. This contains a maze of platforms, pipes, cables, and random objects that form a jungle of places to jump to and from while the battle continues.Down below, the floor that used to be part of the stadium opens up, where a dark hole shows nothing about what is below. The fighters must use the maze of objects above to fight on while keeping their balance and such.As the battle rages on, pipes come from the edges of the audience towords the sky. Raging fire shoots from them creating a new obstacle. The flames will form a rough and incomplete (there are spaces in between them) circle that blocks off the middle of the battlefield between the edges.

As if this isn't enough. Platforms and such will be mechanically taken away and will not be able to be used for the fighters' use. This will continue until two, and lastly one are left. If someone is to fall, death does not await them. At the bottom, a net is placed as such so no fighters are killed. The figher, according to the battlefield rules, who falls into the net, obviously loses.

    ~{================================================ ==}~

    ^just wanted to do that

Anyways, I don't know if this is enough detail, but if it isn't I can try to elaborate. That's about it

I'll need to know details for the battleground as in, what each one should have. also I want to use Kai just so I can get away with not making another character, but I don't want him to die. is this tournament friendly or can we die?

To be slightly more specific, your battlefield should be at least as detailed as the last ToA's were. You can look in that forum for inspiration, as they are still stickied there. Or for an example, you can see my open challenge post, which was using a ToA battlefield. Darkwolf's battlefield is also a pretty good example of what we're looking for.

If you have trouble coming up with your own, feel free to draw on other sources. Just refrain from copying exactly from something else, please. They're really quite easy to modify once you have the basic idea down.

Not done my character profile yet but here's my battlefield submission:

    Battlefield: The Irmengaard (Night)

An ancient forest steeped in wild magic. The trees themselves are large and sturdy, densely packed but for a labyrinthine network of narrow paths. It is very easy to get lost, especially with the constant fog that pervades every corner of the sprawling green depths. There is very little natural light that pierces the canopy, leaving the ground mostly bare besides the thick roots of the trees.

    Hazards:

There are few herbivores that can survive in this environment, leaving the magic to spawn many strange predators who excel at hunting the unfortunate souls who wander in. Of particular note are the packs of roaming direwolves, some as large as tigers. They are especially savage, and have some basic level of sentience. Once they pick up your scent, they'll never leave you alone until either you or the entire pack is dead.

Also of interest is the strength of the magic. The forest itself reacts to the use of elemental power. Depending on which elements are used, the forest will either protect you or lash out and attack you. The surest way to invoke the Irmengaard's wrath is to use fire.

    Special Notes:

It is said that on the night of the full moon, the unlucky may come face to face with the wolf god, Fenrir.

On the night of the new moon, the guardian spirit Carbuncle may appear. It can grant protection from the direwolves for a short time and may choose to heal one's injuries if a proper offering is given.

    Edit:

And here it is, the beta version of Kylista's new profile that I am using for the tournament. I intend to make a far more complete version in the near future, but I believe this will be more than sufficient for the time being. I will not make any changes (other than requested ones) to this profile until after the tournament. The completed version will go in the official stats thread.

    Name: Kylista Draethanis
    Alias/Title: The Crimson Shadow
    Race: Draekonykyn
    Physical Age: 24
    Actual Age: 5,378*
    Height: 6' 0”
    Weight: 152 lbs
    Wingspan: 12'

    Eyes: Crimson
    Hair: Black
    Wings: Black

    Clothing:

Very utilitarian. Black boots, pants, shirt, and cloak. No armor this time.

    Weapons:

Twin kodachi. Each blade is about two feet in length and curved. Although the weapons themselves are originally a defensive type, they are Kylista's primary source of offense.

    Magic:

Kylista is able to manipulate shadows, using illusion and misdirection to confuse her opponent and conceal her own presence. She has no directly offensive magic.

    Combat Style:

Kylista excels at hit and run style attacks. Using her shadows to keep her opponent off guard, she then uses her speed and maneuverability to strike when she finds a weakness.

    Personality:

Kylista isn't necessarily cold as much as she is distant. She doesn't like to form attachments to others, knowing she'll just lose them in the end. Thus she fights alone, with very few exceptions. Rasui and Zakaris are her closest companions since her brother died.

    Background:

Very long and complicated, hence why I am planning several novels about her.

    Other:

*Due to an event in the past, Kylista has essentially fallen out of time. Draekonykyn can live for a max of about 10,000 years, though most die off long before then. (1 Draekonykyn year = 100 human years. Not the exact formula but it's all you really need to know.) Kylista is over 5,000 but stopped aging at the human equivalent of 24, or 600 in Draekonykyn time.

Is there still time to join in the Tournament? If there is, can someone PM me vital information for it?

really? I thought if specified, than the character could die in battle making you unable to use that character ever again.

I wouldn't worry about that, Red. This is a guild to improve your writing. It's not a fight club. I thought you knew that?

And Jecht, 8 people have already signed up. I'm not taking anymore.

    Hm...

Basics - Partially fringed on the realm of Shadow, the setting is just shades of darkness. Color isn't visible, and with the massive amount of billowing smoke, not much else is either. Smoke acts more like fog than smoke, in that movement through it pushes through and the shape reforms slowly. Sounds echo, making it nigh impossible to pinpoint direction.
    transcends.
