NOTE; This post is MASSIVE. But it's interesting... soooo... if you have nothing to do, please try and get through it? I really want some opinions...
Hmm, interesting, but other than the fact Silent Hill is hell and limbo doesn't really have anything to do with parasites and whatnot... It could be, though. There are photographs I've seen that indicate somekind of facial parasite infestation. Question is... if your theory is proved accurate; why are these parastical beasts infecting nurses? Is it because Alessa thought of the nurses as parasites, or even scum?
No; this is actually because Alessa liked Lisa. Lisa looked after Alessa when she was sick and wanted to spare her from a horrible fate.
...But I guess
Spoiler:
That it didn't work out so well in the end, since she wandered down into the hospital basement...

No. Mary's letter to James was non-existent. James, so desperate for his love to come back from the dead, became so depressed that he grew to the point of delusion. As a result, James woke up one day alone again and was reluctant to find a "letter" from "his wife"... He set off, with hopes that she was waiting for him.
Of course,
Maria was a dancer at Heaven's Night (Lady Maria). James must've remembered her story as he set into Silent Hill, but instead of imagining her image, he imagined his wife, but with a nasty personality and a slutty dress sense (the personality of Lady Maria, perhaps?). It was obvious to see James hated this "Maria"; if you watch the video's closely, whenever she pouts or acts hopeless, James cringes. He hates how Maria is nothing like his wife, but inside he was hoping that she really was Mary. That's why he wanted to protect her -- because Maria reminded James of his wife because they had some tiny things in common.
For example, Mary's neediness. Toward the end of the game, James hears Mary calling for him, and then his mind blanks and goes back to a time where Mary snapped at him.
"I don't deserve flowers... Look at me. I'm hideous!" -- this being because of Mary's illness, which ate away at her emotionally, on the inside and outside. I have a picture of Mary when she is sick if you wish to see it. Her face is deformed.
And then "no... James... stay with me..." - Mary when James got up to leave. Mary needed James to be with her whilst she was sick. But he was too scared to be there much. Hence the "waiting for you to come see me again......but you never do..." Mary felt he was ignoring her. But instead, he was just scared.
Note James' wariness as he sees her in this state. He is scared because he knows she's going to die. And in result, was so upset that he...
Spoiler:
Needed to put an end to her pain himself...

See, there is NO letter. It's just a piece of writing paper (it could've belonged to Mary, since she often wrote James letters when she was confined in hospital), James just wanted to believe she was still in hospital. The letter has no writing on toward the end.
As the writing fades away, the awful truth sinks in... She's dead. And...
He wanted to set right his wrongs, but he knew it was too late. But he insisted on a second chance.
In SOME endings in the game...
...James is sitting beside his wife;
Spoiler:
She tells him she wanted to die and that she appreciates him for setting her free.

She also goes on to write a letter to him -- but it isn't summoning him anywhere. In fact; it states purely how happy she was when she was with him, how much of a burden she felt to him toward the end of her life, and how much she loved him. It's a very emotional letter that basically puts a red wax stamp on the end of Silent Hill 2.
James then either...
Spoiler:
Lives on in his own memory and fantasy that Mary is still alive somewhere.

Or...
Spoiler:
commits suicide, stating that Mary and he will be together in death.

Or...
Spoiler:
Forgives himself and then leaves with Laura; the little girl whom Mary loved and wished to adopt.

Although this has drifted off the original topic, Mary's illness DOES bring me back to the nurses.
Did James despise the nurses for all they had put Mary through?
Mary was friends with one of the nurses, and she kept letters from Mary to give to James after she died. But if you listened to the recording in the hotel, James is in desperation for his wife to live. He yells at a doctor for "letting" his wife become sick and eventually die.
James hated the idea of Mary being in a hospital where he couldn't look after her, but at the same time, he was frightened of her illness and he was frightened of what it was doing to Mary. And when Mary came home, James knew she was going to die. He was scared that he would awake to see his wife had died during the night and so...
Spoiler:
He swore his love one last time and then set her free by smothering her.

I feel James hated the hospital and it's staff; that's why he had to endure the pain of the hospital, that and he was looking for Laura after he saw her scamper into the building.
Maria felt she needed to look after Laura. This must've surprised James somehwat, because this is another thing Maria and Mary had in common... The want and need to look after Laura.
I felt that was James remembering how much Laura meant to Mary and so he felt as a favour to his deceased wife, he had to look out for the little girl, too.
Laura was looking for Mary, yes? She went into the hospital, yes? James followed her. Inside the hospital, after having confronted...
, the whole place turned evil. The nurses were demonic. . . . . .
Maybe James just wanted someone to blame other than
So, sub-consciously, for a short time at least...he blamed them...
So yeah. Basically, James only liked Maria at all because of her similarities with Mary... He wanted his wife back, and that was that.
Spoiler:
It's proved that Maria doesn't even exist at all anyway. She was a figment of James' imagination, a Mary-like woman whom was horrible to him to torture him for what he did to the wife he claimed to love so much.

But I feel he blamed the nurses for her death...
...This probably isn't the case at all. I'm hopin' some people will actually read the whole ****in' post.
EDIT: Some mistakes cleaned up!
