Yes, we should let Laura be in charge of who joins. But I think that as long as somebody will contribute something (which I think he can), then there's no reason to not let them join. I mean, half the members who have already joined have posted nothing other than the introduction post. But this is Laura's group; she'll decide the rules of joining.

I have to agree with Sheena and Chez on this one Egon. Not that I matter or what I state matters. But from what you have told me in the past your intentions with this club do not fit the build. Maybe you could proove us other wise though. Until then I say no.

Regarding the joining of Dr. Egon Spengler: he has told me, and he even posted in here before he deleted the post, that he has lost interest in joining anymore. So, this situation is over. Dr. Egon Spengler will not be joining, so there's no need for Laura's approval now.
And Vivi, please do answer the questions that Sheena posted above.
On the account of no new members until Laura returns, should those who tried when she was out continue to contribute to this forum?
Or should we wait for her approval? (I cannot post anyway because I have no idea weather or not we are on the MSN or the Adopt a Noob)
Actually, he was just an exception that I had a disagreement with. I'm usually cool about everyone else, but Laura does have the final say about who gets in.
I think three co-leaders would've been better, because when the two of us are at different ends, a third would make the decision, but alas, no third.
I think I also want to join this club.

Yes... I think this club is a pretty good idea and I hope that we can make TFF better and more active by discussing solutions in this club.

This has already been said, but I think it would be nice if there would be more activities. It would be nice to have more banner competitions or possibly some sort of writing competition. We could also think of others. It seems like right now, the only activities that we really have are roleplaying, and it would be nice if we could have other things as well.
This kind of goes along with the activity, but I also think it would be nice if we could have more diversified posts. It seems like right now, Word Games and General Chat is where most of posts go, and it would be nice if we could raise the activity of some of the other forums as well. It seems like there are a lot of forums right now that are in a slump and aren't posted in very often.
Why do you want to be a part of this group?
To improve TFF. I think that is mainly the purpose of the club.
As for the MSN discussion, I agree with SOLDIER #819, that it could be kind of cool to combine the Member Profile, Picture, and MSN threads together.
If not, I think it would be nice just to sticky a thread and have it updated to include people's MSN. If it wasn't stickied, it would probably get lost and it wouldn't really serve much of a purpose anymore.
I also think that it would be pretty nice if we could start the Adopt A Newbie Foundation back up. It seems like there are so many members that come here and only stay for a short while and then never return. I think that if they were more involved right from the beginning, the chances of them staying would be much higher. I'm sure there are plenty of people right now that would be willing to "adopt" new members.
I don't think that it is a bad idea for staff members to adopt new members. I think that if staff members did adopt members, it would make the staff seem more friendly like Mistress Sheena said. I think it is a great thing for the staff to become more involved.
How is this thread any different than the Shinra Forums? Frankly, I'm quite suprised Andromeda let this club slide. It's kind of stupid/biased anyways, we can't have any Evil Inc but we can have a redundant club?
And no, I'm not interested in joining. I just looked through the member's list, and I think there are too many chiefs and not enough indians, so to speak.
It's sparking activity and people are trying to initiate improvement for this forum. Is that really a problem? Why are you trolling?
I'm not trolling, just stating my opinion on the validity of this club, so chill out please. We've already discussed several topics at hand in the shinra forums that people in the tff council have brought up, and I don't see the stance of anything changing. For example, the whole "adopt a noob" or whatever you guys call it has been discussed over a year ago there, and due to people realizing that there really aren't that many people that join TFF that have enough merit to adopt, so therefore the whole situation is not really needed. From one of Nixon's (the tffer, not the former president rofl) quotes, 'Considering new members last an average of two days..' which has merit despite the way he put it.Quote:

With Shinra, people have to wait for everyone to agree on giving someone access, and then an admin has to go in and give them access. Here, everyone has access and can apply for membership, because everyone knows about it. I don't see why we should limit positive forum discussions to one location.

It's Laura's final say, I'm just bringing it all out there. And while I disagree with the way Rocky barged in and trolled the thread (aka derailment. *points to my warning for just that.*), I agree with the points that he made.
I think, overall, the council is a bad idea. At least at this point in time. It needed to have been thought out a lot more before it was made.
Like I said, less amount of members, certain length of time...and instead of just being all talk, we need to have action done with whatever we talk about.
I don't want to repeat Shinra's hopeless history of dying with all talk and no action.
Rocky's right. We've talked about everything in the past and no one ever did anything about it. We either didn't have the time, didn't care enough, or some other excuse.
If we're going to improve the forum, we need to actually DO it.
Changing the subject i have been thinking about activities and or competitions and i pondered on an idea that might work.
So here it is it we buy anonymous gifts and give them to people with clues to see if they can figure out who it is.
Yeah i haven't thought about it in detail but please discuss.
As for the msn thread i don't see why we cant just combine it with a picture thread therefore you can sticky it etc like Mistress said or was it Oceaneyes i can,t remember.
I'm here on business, so sorry for the intrusion. I have to agree that Rocky you are only inciting flaming to yourself. If you have posted in a more tactful manner you could have avoided this. I'll be giving you a warning for coming into the club with the sole purpose to just bash its existence. You've been here long enough to know right from wrong.
Second, on the subject of being tactful. Ocean, you could have been more tactful with the way you addressed Rocky. Just because he's flaming doesn't mean you can return it back, even if it was on a lesser degree. You need to be more diplomatic. If there's a problem with someone, report it. Then I'll deal with the member.

I find it interesting that Shin-Ra was brought up, because I was thinking about it when this club was first created. I created it... but unfortunately I (and the admins afterward) did not maintain it and continue to add more members. :( Now Shin-Ra is basically made up of mods, ex-mods, or mods-to-be. It's no one's fault and it isn't intentional, so please don't take it "that way." The membership has just not been updated in a long, long time.
That being said, I think the Council is a great attempt. The whole reason I'm saying this at all is for one point: Let's not bog it down with drama and litigation right now! :) We have a very good leader in Kilala who I think is very capable at what she does, and is one of few members in a very long time to actually take the initiative to make TFF better. I like the idea of having a large number of members, and if Kilala decides against it later that's fine too! Let's not kill the magic before she even gets back, haha.
Fate? Shadow? Perhaps we should move onto the next thing. I think it was adoption? I can't even remember. :) Maybe we should also try to summarize what we've done with previous topics as we go so we don't have to keep referring to 20 different posts.

And as far as what S said, let's see if I can sum up the ideas so far:
MSN - ...I don't think we ever solved this. Instead of arguing about what particular plan to do, we should just pick one and have it be done; so I say we have the MSN be included in the Member Profile thread, as it would make the most sense there.
Adoption - Mostly everyone agrees that staff should be allowed to adopt new members. But it depends on how long the new members stick around for. The ones that seem genuine would get a kick out of it, because the staff would seem really friendly, as well as the rest of the community that helps out. So how would we go about this? Make a sticky thread in Member Business or the TFF Family forum?

Yeah, I meant everyone can just put it into their posts, if they chose to do so. If not, then they don't have to. It's not a big deal.

Well, we already came up with the idea to contact Fuzz to include the Adoption in the automatic PM.
And as far as why it stopped, because people stopped caring enough, I guess. The adopters/tees became inactive after a while, I assume?
We just need constant, active participants to keep it going, otherwise it will just die again.
So, regarding this issue, I don't think that there's any problem with having a large amount of members if they all help out, of course. So here's where it stands, we have over 20 current members, but only about 10 of them are posting ideas and comments and contributing to this club. Some people join just for the heck of it, and they haven't proved to be helping yet. I talked with Sheena, and we have come to a possible agreement.Quote:

Too many members leads to confusion, especially if they are fresh of the noob boat. Sorry, it's true. Seeing as it is waayyy too late to tell people they can't be in the council (some people could get offended), I think we should set up a trial period.
