The Sky Pirates: Remixed

Well, as far as pirate members are concerned, they'll all be somewhat defying law in a manner to which you'll understand by the Prologue post. However, the 4 characters which will unite by the end of that prologue will be Rummy, Patches, Emma and her Bodyguard. More generally, an occurence will allows the four to acquire "something big" and will then make a vow and create "something huge".

The style of the prologue, from what i'm thinking will be presented in 2 point of views. This will allow club members to see what is going on from the perspective of Rummy and Patches, as well as from Emma and her bodyguard. Different Beinnings, suspense and kickass start to a new pirate era.

That's as much as i can reveal...

As for Holy Priest, sorry i totally forgot about you. You're definitely in, but you must make a pirate name and a find a piratee function. Then i'll add you to the list..

I agree with celtic in that we should create the world more. The major parts of that would include, like most of what he said, races, currency, world name, major city names, major kingdom names. I could do some of the last one for sure as, afterall, it affects me directly. I think stuff like this is vital to give us creative freedom in the RP. Enemies are going to hit us as Rummy and Patches sort them out, but we have to be able to do stuff ourselves, especially when we dock.

And, even if Patches and Rummy do this on their own, it wouldn't give us as much freedom as if we organized it together. Since this was proposed as a club activity, some of the club members might me more prone to delve in if they have a little piece in it. Hey, we're all pirates right? We like booty.=P Plus...designing a whole world is time consuming if you're doing it between two people. xD

In my opinion, races shouldn't lend to final fantasy or any other game in any way. Its cool to have little fluffy dudes wandering around, but lets not make them....cat dolls with pom poms. xD

I like the idea of having multiple races, though. Diversity's a good thing. =P

For currency, I like gold coins. Paper money flies away too easily. xD But, on the downside, too many coins are hard to lug around. Perhaps money could be digital? o_O That'd be sort of a werid concept though. Stealing data chips instead of treasure chests. xD

Oh and Daddy....*cough* Patches, any special format you want for making characters? Or just a basic one?

Hi.., congrates for you 1000th post :) I'm not really clever in combat but i'm sure a helpful medic in the combat. So, i guess i could be a medic in your airship and you need my character's name as well?

And yes, I agree. It'd be way more fun to come up with our own races. :D
As this is a RP for the whole of us as a diplomatic piratey sort of club, input from everyone will probably make this roll better...
More ideas = More things to play with and a more diverse universe after all...

Can't we just "borrow" a world from somewhere? The Elder Scrolls have some cool stuff & browsing the net can have great results.

The RP is not like most RPs whose worlds are either the Earth or a world with 2-3 kingdoms fighting each other. Since the concept is different, creating a world will be harder, unless it derives from a FF XII form.

However, i & most members i guess, don't know how far you've gone with the RP, but you don't need to rush it; that way, we'll always be asking questions about random stuff on the story, plot, actions, world etc.

I agree, take your time with the RP. I like the idea of having races would be nice. Would be able to decided what race we could be individually though or would be just be human and the world that we live in will have different races?

I also like the Elder Scrolls concept as well. Are you reffering to the Oblivion one though? I found that place to be really nice. Nicely detailed too. :)

I don't like the idea of borrowing a world. It limits what we can do with it. Sure we can base some of our ideas off of a world, but don't copy it. Otherwise that's just like an RP for that game. This is our own universe. You know?

But yeah. We should take our time with this. If I may be so bold, can I propose the first of the topics to be discussed? If patches or Rummy have a problem with this, you know, just change it. I'm just throwing something out there for now.

Races are a really important aspect. However, they're also complex. While we should keep them in mind, we should go with something more simple for starters. Just to get a feel for how the club works together. How about currency?

@ Debate between Cloudy and Xeim: I personally think that taking from some other worlds could be beneficial, just as long as we don't overdo it. I'm thinking of taking many brilliant concepts to make a great one. However, its not like our ship will be able to travel at the speed of light...

@ Celtic_Silver and Xeim: Yup, excellent mate. Figured that was brilliant to incorporate currency. However, the concept of digital money of Xeim intrigues me, and am i the only one to whom this idea appeals?

Finally, as a vote of democracy, i will be gathering all club's discussion, and formulate questions/choices in which all members will participate to vote their favourite options. For example, i will ask questions such as "What currency would you prefer?" and next to that i'll offer some choices.

This will be a post in this thread, and after that i'll allow 1 week for members to vote. I'll tally all results and make up a world of pirateness. Also if there is a tie, Rummy and i will decide which one lives on :D.

Digital money idea of Xeims supported by me. That said, it wouldn't be the same without being able to loot real valuables. So we should also have real treasure that we'd have to find a way of fencing or something.

Also with races, I think that if someone has a particular race in their head right now for their character, they should share. If it doesn't seem badly balanced in terms of being over skilled or whatever it should be fine. Rather than striving for unique skills above anything else, I think I'd be more interested in interesting aesthetics. It's the horns, scales, unusual methods of breathing and communication and all that which truly make a race design unique...

Digital money? Sounds cool to me. But, credit cards are sort-of tacky to me. If we are aiming for a semi-futuristic world, I'd say some sort of small device (about the size of a flash drive) that projects a holographic display. This could also work for I.D.s and considering we're pirates, it could easily be reconfigured into a fake I.D.

As for races, I plan on my charater being cybornetic in nature. Think Cyborg Ninja from the MGS saga. Still human looking, but obviously a cyborg as well. I would call them Technorati.

Chris.., need me to provide you my name? And, well some basic skills like attacking? Of course i know. But, i'm not a warrior for sure. I'll stand behind if there's any fighting cuz i can't risk my life for that. Maybe casting spells instead of physical approach.

Holy: Yes, Totz needs you to post your pirate name up in the thread. And you know, being pirates...we all have to be able to fight one way or another. Having a healer lets us all rest a little easier...as long as said healer can defend themselves. If we have to go around protecting you and making sure enemies stay away from you, we're all going to die....or you are. One way or another. And being pirates, it'll probably be that latter. So, you kind of need to have some sort of melee ability, in my opinion. However, I'm not in charge or anything, so my suggestions are just (logical) suggestions.

But I agree. Taking ideas from other worlds is highly beneficial, just don't lean towards one world too much so it stays original, you know?

Wow, I started something with the digital money? =O Obviously, I'm for it. But I agree, no credit cards. I was thinking more along the lines of SD cards. And we have a phone like device we insert it into to deposit it into an account or whatever. Of course, the card will require a password, so accessing the money will require....

HACKING! Always gotta break something. xD But I'm thinking that our more dangeous missions would involve stealing highly protected cards with lots and lots of mula. =P

That's just my suggestion though. Hey, the card things could even look like gold pieces! That'd be pretty cool. So it'd be like we're stealing gold anyway. xD Each piece cold hold like...I dunno, 50 units of the currency?

Well if we are going to make it a digital world shouldnt we need a hacker of some sort?? Or do all of us already know how to do that...because I sure dont. Well I'm with Xeim on the borrowing a world debate. We should make our own....however, we could get just a general idea of different worlds. I'm looking forward to the RP....it sounds exciting :)

Ok Xeim. You always have good point for me. Of course being a healer means providing aid and not problems maybe a little bit here and there but not too serious. I am not good at combat so mostly maybe some simple melee ability not specialised. Defend and heal is where i specialised in. Any more helpful ideas so that no chaos from me?

Well, witholut further adew, its time to lift off and set sail with you all. I know i've been taking my sweet time, but exams are over and its time to begin this roleplay. I'll be creating a thread for RP characters and you'll just have to post them in there. As for the RP, i'll be kicking it off either the 23rd or the 26th of december and it'll flow from there.

For now, get your rp characters rolling, and when the thread will be created, i'll give you guys a heads up on everything via club.

Hey mates, I haven't been on a LONG time. Well now I'm back and from my understanding, the rp is still being worked on. I also noticed that this thread has been dead until Chris posted on it. I hope to become more active and help in any way possible.

Well, as long as there wasn't much to discuss, it's only natural for the club to be a bit inactive until the RP gets under way.

The only subject there is, still on midair is the Jolly Roger thingy. We don't have a flag! I was talking to Xeim a couple of days ago & as for the flag and since no one brought it up, or had an idea about it, we started making some stuff. It's pretty simple, a black flag, a skull & a couple of wings to indicate the sky element.

I saw all of the flags and I kinda liked the first flame flag (if that makes any sense). So is our flag going to have any flame or not??

Chris, I thought we already had an airship design, but then again me "eye" must have fooled me. :D Anyways...since we still don't have it I will try to work on some designs for the ship and post them as soon as I can. However, I dont think it will be any time this week.

It makes sense. The thing is that Totz wants the club members to vote which one they like, flame or no flame.

I mostly like the plain one, since it's a standard pirate flag.

I don't exactly care for the skull and wings. The flmaes make it look cool, but that's not exactly what is important. CLOUD, if you and/or Xeim could throw tgether a couple more, that would be nice. Especially since we'll get a more diverse range of variety, savvy?

The thing is that if someone can make a flag, they should post it before the start of the RP.

Well, I randomly built a profle for the country my character's from. It's pretty rough...just to give an idea. If you like it Nick, we can use it, but if you don't you can throw it out the window. I spent a lot of time on the city names though. -_-;;

The Fair Kingdom of Alcedonia

Alcedonia is a human-run country that extends across over half of one of the continents (don’t know what to name it). It is known for its strong military power, contradicting its name, meaning “tranquility.” Alcedonia’s army and “air navy” are the strongest on the planet, and are feared by most people. Most of Alcedonia’s young men enlist in the army at a young age, leaving other jobs to the women. They farm, build airships and other objects, and (relevant to this RP) run taverns. And there are many taverns to keep such a large army satisfied.

Law enforcement is left to the army, which patrols even the smallest towns day and night. Despite the strict military influence, Alcedonia is a flourishing kingdom. Its might is never challenged, so it is relatively peaceful. It has some of the greatest jewelry and tea exports in the world.

Towns vary in size from tiny country village to large metropolis. Much is the countryside is untamed, making it a great spot to hide out if you’re running from the government. The government is run by the Alcedonia-Lautitia family, and has been since the founding of the country. The current king, King Nicholas III, is a widower and father of one daughter, Emmalia. They live in the capital city, Mors Mortis, which is also the largest city in the country, and rule out of the castle Incendia.

On the subject of the flag...I still like the first plain one. If I had to go with one with flames it'd be the second flame one. The others...I just don't see them working. Too cartoonish, I think. If you really have a problem with them Evangel, Cloud and I can start making more. I just don't think he should be troubled much more. I'm currently without photoshop, and will be for the next couple of weeks...so all I can do is come up with ideas.

Erm, that's all I think? Almost done with the planning stage! Yay!

Hmm...the flags are all great to be honest. That's why i shall be sending a pm to everyone, with the urls of those flags, and request a vote. When all members vote, or within a 3 day wait, we shall rise the flag.

Excellent Xeim! You're sooo f'ing awesome its unbelieavable. That was the best short intro i ever read and it connects with my character's beginnings. The "said" taverns all over the country, is exactly where myself and Rummy begin. We're supposedly having a drink when a flash report on tv prompts the adventure to begin as we will see...

So yeah, rock on with taverns!

As for the city names, they're quite intriguing xeimykins....very nice.

The 2nd one has Xeim's vote. The main idea is that in Xeim's character's Kingdom, there's a Dragon on the Country's Flag; since it's a military based kingdom, a dragon suits it fine. Because we are harboring a princess...

Plus, there's the skull.... we are a pirate crew.

I think it's the best one, even though i like the cartoonish ones more; they give a One Piece-like feeling to the whole thing.

Hehe...thanks Dadd-erm, Patches. You flatter me. -_- So then, that'll be Alcedonia, where the Rp begins! I didn't name the continent, as that affects more than just the kingdom. I thought I'd leave that up to the captains, if they even want one that is. And as Cloudy said, we've decided that my country's flag will have a dragon on it. We won't be making Alcedonia's flag however, unless I get really bored after I get photoshop...

I ran across this image though, and thought it would work really well for our flag. So, yes, my vote goes to the second, filtered one. It looks more fabric-ey. ^_^

I too like the second dragon-skull flag. It's unique, has the appearance of real fabric, and very eyecatching. If, for a final dead-set version, you could give our flag a teathered and worn edge affect, I think that would be most ideal. Good job on all the flags, CLOUD.

BTW, Captain Totz, when will the RP actually begin? Before the new year? I am really anxious for this. Next to Cloverfied, this has to be the most anticipated thing for me for some time.
