Discographies: What are your opinions, do you like to collect all the albums by a band? do you own any? If so, what is your favorite discography.
I don't ever mean too as most of my bands have a fair few albums released and I might not listen to them all, but I think the closest I have to a full discography is Nirvana.

Lesse... With the Lights Out boxset, "BLEACH", In Utero, Incesticide, Nevermind, From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah, Nirvana, Sliver: The Best of the Box, Unplugged in New York, In Memoriam Kurt Cobain, American Acoustic tour - Live and Transmissions a book/cd set containing some of their songs as heard on KAOS FM radio and Saturday Night Live.

14 Audio CDs not including DVDs and bonus DVDs.

I own a few discographies, but they're by people who've only released one or two albums. I have Feist's debut 'Let It Die', and the more recent, superb 'The Reminder' which IPOD ****ING STOLE AND SHAT ALL OVER. Just a note.

Also, Teitur. He's got a third album out called The Singer, but it's almost impossible to find if you don't live in the Faroe Islands or Scandinavia. If anyone from Denmark or nearby reads this, let's get a CD exchange on the go.

If I really like an artist, I'll buy all their reachable music. Sometimes I won't bother; I feel I have enough PJ Harvey and Cat Power, for instance. I don't know why. Sometimes I'm content enough with the tunes that I have not to go in search of more. But there are some certainties; if certain people release new music, I'll always get it. I'm not so hot on back catalogue-ing, though. Half the time I'm worried that it'll sound different to the sound I know and love; I mean, compare I Want To Hold Your Hand to Norwegian Wood. See what I mean?

Then there's David Bowie. I love the man, but he got shit after Diamond Dogs (or, more precisely, halfway through it). I just can't get him after that. Pin Ups? No thank you, sir Bowie. I'd die of happiness if I saw you play Five Years live, but spend Loving the Alien smoking a cigarette and staring at the haircuts of the people in front of me. You understand, right?

Slipknot (singles, early recordings, albums etc)
Atreyu (including old, bad quality EP)
Children of Bodem (live stuff and all albums)
Dream Theatre (basically, every album they have ever released)
    Funeral for a Friend
Heaven Shall Burn (including split program with Caliban)
    Nirvana (live sessions as well)

    Yeah, i'm sad.

Honest to everything covered in bright green alien goo, I do not have ANY Discographies! I'm pretty sure my mum has some among her CD collection - when I say collection, I mean MASSIVE so I'm possitive she has some. Wouldn't know which ones she has though...

My "old" friend is a massive music fan, and she used to collect lotsa Discographies from really old Jazz bands... She loved Jazz...

Do you like to collect all the albums by a band?

Yes, In fact. I own discographies by the most bands I love. However, that got expensive. Nowadays, I don't really collect full discographies as much as I make sure I have all the songs the band has released. If that means I have to buy certain singles or compilations just for a new song, so be it but I honestly don't bother with compilations unless there are previously unreleased tracks on them.

    Do you own any?

    -Whisper Sound Asleep EP
    -Mystery EP
-Not For Your Ears (Fake album but who cares?)
    -Origin
    -Fallen
    -Anywhere But Home
    -The Open Door

    Alice In Chains:
    -Facelift
    -Dirt
    -Alice in Chains
    -We Die Young EP
    -Sap EP
    -Jar of Flies EP

    Metallica:

Do you like to collect all the albums by a band?

Hm. A tricky question. I like to support bands that I like by buying albums. But some albums just plain suck. I will forever rue the days that I bought Slayer's "God Hates us All" and Primus' "Anti-pop". But you don't know that they suck when you buy them, unless you have prior knowledge of the album's suckitude. If that's the case though, you don't buy the CD. Unless you're lame. Blah blah blah this is going to turn into a rant.

    Do you own any?

The Aquabats (save for "Yo! Check out this Ride!")
Behold... The Arctopus (though it's only two albums)
    Dimmu Borgir
    Dub Trio
    Fantomas
    Harvey Milk
    Morphine
    Mr. Bungle
    Primus
    Tom Waits

Pretty much it. By the way, bonus points if someone can compile a full discography of Buckethead.

    What is your favorite discography?

Probably Dub Trio's. Some of the only stuff I never get sick of.

I just realised I don't think I ever answered this question:

Discographies: What are your opinions, do you like to collect all the albums by a band? do you own any? If so, what is your favorite discography?

Sure I own a few discographies, but to me it isn't really that important to own them, it's nice, but the point? No.

My favourite discographies would definatly be Nightwish and Metallica. Green Day come close, even if they aren't really my thing nowadays, for nostalgia.

Um...I haven't really read this whole thread due to some time restrictions I got going on, but I definitely wanted to join this club if it is still open.

What are/is your favourite type(s) of music?
Hands down, rock. I don't like to label music, because of my passion for it. I just call music music, as simple as that. My friends over here call me Music Man because I make anything into music. I hear a sound, and I flip it, remix it in someway, and turn it into music. Sometimes I even type to music , weird, but I guess it's all those years of being a drummer. The other day I was washing my hands my friend said it sound like I was making a song, this is probably retarded to say, but you'd have to see me in person to understand.

Do you have a particular favourite artist/band? If so, who?
This is really odd for me to say since I'm such a huge rock fan...but Blink 182. I don't give an f about what ppl say when I say this is my favorite band. I relate to them with all of my high school experiences, and as they grew older, so did I, and I related to their older shit. But the thing about favourites is that I LOVE alot of bands.

How has music affected your life?
Almost in too many ways. I honestly don't know what to say about this. I know that if I think about the messed up moments in my past, I can relate a song to them. Usually I get stuck on a few songs in bad moments. ANd in good moments of my life, I can relate to a few songs also. I lift weights everyday, run everyday, do all kinds of workouts everyday, and without music, it would SUCK. I fall asleep to music, listening to just the instruments itself (if I start paying attention to the words it will keep me up.) I will probably edit this later as I think of lifetime experiences.

    Have any musical talents?
Been in 3 bands so far. My favorite band I was in was 68 Whiskey. It was a bunch of us Army guys, alot of Jack Daniels, and we threw a gig in San Antonio one time. We played alot of different types of music because most of us were the same musically, we liked everything. We played anything from Johnny Cash to Tool.
I've played the drums since I was a little kid. My first instrument was a floppy piece of rubber to practice drumming. Then I moved onto bigger and better things and I'm currently looking into getting a Roland set.
I've played in many churches and play here at Qatar for the Gospel service.
I'm not so talented with guitars, but own 2. Right now I'm recording some acoustic music with a friend of mine. We've been working on a project for about 6 months here and might make something of it. It kind of sounds like newer linkin park, it's not the best, but it's something. We have me on the drums mostly, nathan on the acoustic, rogelio on electric, greg mixing the backsounds, and were looking for vocals, we have tryouts from rock band going on right now actually lol.
I play piano, my mother taught me, show owns a grand that her gpa gave her. And I own one back at home, just don't go home much.
I was in all state band nearly every year in high school and in my 8th grade.
Vocal wise, I'm more of a growler. I don't know if that's what I classify it, but I love singing music on the lines of Godsmack, and sometimes Metallica.

What's your favourite song at the moment?
Can't say right now for the moment.
Probably the 8th song on their Venting album from Five.Bolt.Main.
For the longest time I remember: End of a Broken Heartache by Killswitch Engage
So now you’re suffering the fallacy of what you said
When you uncover the depression from where you’ve tread
Breathe over the glass you wrote on
Swallow all that you waste your throat on
You wear the mark and wave the banner they made with sin
Revealing every single lie that you’ve been breeding within
Wash over the skin you’ve broken
Think over the tone you spoke in

I can't understand why this band is popular? I don't like the idea of people wearing grotesque masks and screaming so loud that they have sore throats at the end of the day. They just yell into the microphone about nothing! I used to think they were ok but now I think they are annoying. The funny thing is they have like 4 members that do pretty much nothing! Seriously, If you believe music has lost all meaning and direction, Slipknot proves your point.

I agree with you that the video is awesome but I didn't find that song catchy at all. However, I must say there are a few seconds when I was impressed.

Ah, Slipknot. I hate Slipknot. So much. By the way, there's a good theory going around that Slipknot stole the whole mask thing from Mr. Bungle. Most of this comes from Bungle fans who hate Slipknot, but it makes sense, as the lead singer (lead asshole) of Slipknot has mentioned that he got a lot of inspiration from Mr. Bungle.

YouTube - Mr. Bungle - Quote Unquote

Though I don't know how I'd take that I were Bungle. That's probably why they broke up (Patton and Dunn both hate Slipknot). Not really though.

But anyway: Slipknot = Yucky. I couldn't make it through the entire video.

What are/is your favourite type(s) of music?
    I like nearly all music.
Do you have a particular favourite artist/band? If so, who?
At the moment it's The Cure.
How has music affected your life?
It made my life much better, it helps me relax and manage my emotions.
    Have any musical talents?
I play the electric guitar, the harmonica, recorder, I can kind of play piano and I used to be in a choir.
What's your favourite song at the moment?
Boys Don't Cry by The Cure

    PS I can't help having short posts, I can't waffle, I'm very direct :/

After looking at both previous Slipknot masks and the Mr Bungle video posted, I can see where people would be coming from. The singer's mask is similar to that of the first mask worn by the Slipknot lead singer. So it is understandable by the idea of the masks would seem stolen. Other than that though, I don't mind listening to Slipknot. I won't go out and by one of there albums or look up a music video but I can listen to them if there played. I mean, I have a small handful of there songs on my PSP (which I use for music).

For the song though, I prefer the first one they released for this new album that didn't have a video - All Hope is Gone. I'm quite picky when it comes to there songs anyway.

Seeing as how other people are posting bands (and I'm seeing this as recommendations), I'd like to post one myself: Lynch. - Adore. I was only introduced to this band yesterday by and friend and I've fallen in love with their sound. Although I can't find many other videos or downloads (Sorry but I do sometimes ^^;;; ) I still enjoy listening/watching this video.

@: Slick, Chocozilla and Gazette, you're all in. Choco and Gazette, it'd be nice if you did include a bit more in your posts.

I quite like Slipknot. Most of their stuff isn't too good, but they do have a few good tracks. Duality is my favourite. However, I don't really like that new song. I prefer Corey Taylor's (vocalist) band Stone Sour. - YouTube - Stonesour - 30.30.150

I don't own any discographies. I have downloaded all of the songs of certain bands, but never owned all of their cds. Unless they've only ever released one or two albums >.>

I'll try to post more, but even with essays I'll write very little (though I always get great marks! Shows my posts/essays have good content).
Slipknot a a decent band in my opinion. I liked a few of their songs (none are coming to mind....) and hated others. I think it depends on if you like shouting and screaming over a melody.

That's really an interesting theory. I've also heard that Slipknot stole the whole mask thing from Mushroomhead too. Many fans of Mushroomhead claim Slipknot stole their 'masked' look. However, Members of Slipknot claim to have not heard of Mushroomhead until they were recording the demo of their first album in 1998.

It's pretty obvious that Mushroomhead members and fans can't stand Slipknot, read this:

An incident between Mushroomhead fans and Slipknot themselves...:
An incident between Mushroomhead fans and Slipknot themselves occurred when Slipknot trekked to Cleveland as part of their tour in support of their debut album. Mushroomhead fans flocked to the concert and peppered Slipknot with batteries forcing them off-stage. In a press conference, Slipknot lead singer Corey Taylor stated that members of Mushroomhead had encouraged fans to do these acts. However, Mushroomhead has publicly stated that the band in no way encourages this sort of behavior. In a May 2007 interview it Imhotep.com, singer Jeffrey Nothing stated that the day after the Cleveland incident, his then girlfriend went down to the venue and the members of Slipknot and some of their crew harassed her saying: "You're wearing a Mushroomhead shirt, what do you know?" Nothing went on to say, "The bottom line is: here is our city, our fans support us completely! They felt just as ****ed over by these puny 'Clowns' as us and they aren't afraid to show it. Welcome to Cleveland, bitches. In 2005 Mushroomhead dressed as Slipknot for three shows in the northeast Ohio area, avidly mocking the band.

Mushroomhead's 2006 Midnight Halloween performance started with an announcement over the PA: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Slipknot will not be appearing tonight,” which was greeted by chants of “**** SLIPKNOT!” from the cadre of fans in the pit. Soon after, the lights came up, revealing their Nightmare Before Christmas-themed set, complete with falling snow. St1tch and Little Dan (Skinny’s drum tech and drummer for Ventana) came out wearing masks from two members of Slipknot. Dan wearing Chris Fehn’s mask with the Pinocchio-style nose, Stitch wearing Shawn “Clown” Crahan’s mask. When they weren’t playing the large drums at the front of the stage, Dan proceeded to masturbate his mask’s nose, and St1tch took off his mask and flipped the bird at it, eliciting fits of laughter from both of their fans. After the show, Pig Benis grabbed a Slipknot-hat from a kid in the front row and proceeded to wipe his bottom with it, then threw it back into the crowd.

I was listening to Give Unto Me by Evanescence which is probably one of the most calming songs I've ever heard. Stupidly, I decided to stop it and give Slipknot another chance by listening to the song you mentioned and I really hate myself for doing that...Yet another shitty song by them. As James said, Slipknot = Yucky. Sorry.

Hahaha, You know what? Your post made me think of a few questions regrading "Downloading songs..illegally":

    • What do you think of downloading songs illegally?

    • Do you illegally download songs from the internet?

    • Would you illegally download a song because it wasn't available legally?

    • In your opinion, Why do people download songs illegally? Why do so many people feel it is OK to do that?

    • Do you feel guilty if you illegally downloaded a song that was recorded for a charity or something like that?

I am so tired now so I'll answer my own questions tomorrow.

    * What do you think of downloading songs illegally?
It's for some people, not for others.

    * Do you illegally download songs from the internet?
No. I did download a few random songs a couple of years ago but gave it up for Amazon.

    * Would you illegally download a song because it wasn't available legally?
Only in an extreme case. Like if the owner of the band said "you can get this song off our site...blah blah blah."

    * In your opinion, Why do people download songs illegally? Why do so many people feel it is OK to do that?
Saves them money and gets the job done quicker than buying it from a store.

    * Do you feel guilty if you illegally downloaded a song that was recorded for a charity or something like that?
Yeah, which is why I've never done that.

Sorry I can't really elaborate. It's just that I don't download music anymore and buy it, so my opinion on this is a short one.

    * What do you think of downloading songs illegally?
Sucks for alot of bands in the media today. The bands that are underrated stay underrated because one person buys the album, a friend listens to it, puts it on his computer as saying "AWESOME NEW BAND", shares it through limewire, and then their goes the sales. There are sites out there where you can buy the song if you want it so bad. Now I don't mean to be a hypocrite about this subject since I have nearly 180gb of music that started at one time being 650gb, but it was pain in the neck...and I did not actually have the "rights" to even a percentage of the music. But as I look at the little pile of c.d.s right here I find that it's not the extremely popular bands of music that I buy, it's either completely new and unheard of, very underrated, or a band I give alot of respect to. My little stack reads: Silent Civilian, Five.Bolt.Main., These 5 Down, Disturbed's new c.d., and Shinedown's new C.D.

    * Do you illegally download songs from the internet?
Yes, I couldn't find the extended piano version of To Zanarkand from FFX on any site, so I downloaded it off a program alot of ppl use. So yes, in short, I do.

    * Would you illegally download a song because it wasn't available legally?
Yep, as said on the last question. There have been a few cases where I couldn't find a song online or a c.d. even so I download it. For instance, theres a band called Code Red, it's a euro band, kinda like a grown up high school musical meets a weekend at Amsterdam, but I can't find their c.d. on amazon or anywhere so I just downloaded it.

    * In your opinion, Why do people download songs illegally? Why do so many people feel it is OK to do that?
For me when I really need a song, probably because it's like a cure at the moment, and I don't have it, I buy it. Not a lot of people will understand that, but music is my life. Theres a song called The Symphony of Blase by Anberlin, and it is kind of like a drug for me at the moment, don't ask why,but I downloaded it. It was a heck of alot more quicker, and either way, I have the c.d. so I don't care. Again, this sucks for some bands that don't make it real big. A huge instance was with Flaw's -Endangered Species Album, which only sold 55,000 and that was the time when downloading music got big. And when people leak music, that really sucks, I love music, but I don't like it to be leaked, I would rather hear the real entire album than one terribly recorded leaked song.

    * Do you feel guilty if you illegally downloaded a song that was recorded for a charity or something like that?
    I guess.

    Bottom Line
Yes I'm going to download music illegally. Why, cause I don't care. I buy alot of c.d.s, on average of like 5 a month, and downloading music is alot easier. No tape, no long ass ripping times. Just pure music at the keyboards disposal.

What do you think of downloading songs illegally?

It's not for me. I've downloaded samples to listen to which I then deleted, but few things I download seem to stay on my hard drive. Think two CDs I bought from a site for 99 cents per album...

I have no issues with people downloading things illegally, so long as it doesn't really involve me in any way, but I wouldn't do it myself due to two things. The obvious is that it's illegal. And the other reason is that the music quality often sucks some major balls compared to a commercially bought CD.

Do you illegally download songs from the internet?

    See above.

Would you illegally download a song because it wasn't available legally?

    Unlikely, though not impossible.

In your opinion, Why do people download songs illegally?

It's 'free' and a good way to fill up the oversized hard drives many computers ship with these days. And most are in formats their portable media players will support so it can also be conveniant I guess...

Why do so many people feel it is OK to do that?

Honestly, I think that it's as most people do it and no-one really does much to stop it. I've never heard of some random federal police officer kicking someone's door down over audio files on a computer...

Do you feel guilty if you illegally downloaded a song that was recorded for a charity or something like that?

I would, but I don't. And if it's a charity song it should be distributed well enough for you to buy a copy to support the charity. Even if they didn't, you could contact the charity and ask if they could send you one for a donation and I think many would be more than happy to work something out. It's for a good cause after all.

What do you think of downloading songs illegally?
Very wrong, it's bad for the artists and the economy. It's also stealing which I dont agree with at all. (I lectured my friend because he was illegally downloading songs >>; )
Do you illegally download songs from the internet?
No, and I never will! I download legally and buy CDs.
Would you illegally download a song because it wasn't available legally?
No, I'd buy the CD with it on, or ask a friend to lend me the CD so I could rip it to my computer and burn it.
In your opinion, Why do people download songs illegally? Why do so many people feel it is OK to do that?
Well, I know my friend does it because he thinks the system is messed up by charging us for music. (Even though artists work hard to produce it...)
Do you feel guilty if you illegally downloaded a song that was recorded for a charity or something like that?
I never have, I'll just give my money to charity instead

What do you think of downloading songs illegally?
It's not as big a deal as the industry makes it out to be. If record companies would embrace it rather than complain to and sue the people that actually listen and like their music things would work a bit better. Downloads are not going anywhere so the obvious thing to do is embrace it and use it as a new outlet for selling music thus winning over the illegally downloading people. This is being done more and more nowadays, there are tie-ins with phones among other things. Bottom line: Downloading music isn't as big a deal as it used to be, music sales are up the past 3 years. It's still bad if its illegally downloaded. Its unfair on everyone involved, legal downloads don't cost much anyway.

Do you illegally download songs from the internet?
I generally try and stick to the legal downloading sites. But there are some circumstances where illegal ones are unavoidable

Would you illegally download a song because it wasn't available legally?

Sure if I really tried and couldn't find it somewhere else.

In your opinion, Why do people download songs illegally? Why do so many people feel it is OK to do that?
People dowload songs illegally simply because they are free and that the legal download sites are still just beginning. Legal sites still don't offer as much as an illegal site so you may not be able to find a song or artist there that you would definatly find on an illegal site. I really couldn't say why people think its ok, I guess it depends on the person

Do you feel guilty if you illegally downloaded a song that was recorded for a charity or something like that?
    I would.

What do you think of downloading songs illegally?

Downloading songs illegally is a wrong thing. all you're doing is stealing from the artists who make the music and the record companies since you are not paying for what they created and put out. The music industry is their job and if everyone keeps downloading album and songs illegally I don't even want to think about what could possibly happen.

Do you illegally download songs from the internet?

Never. I can't imagine myself doing that and I'm in no way endorsing illegally downloads. I always buy CDs to ensure that the bands I support receive the money they deserve.

Would you illegally download a song because it wasn't available legally?

I have to say yes because I don't see a problem with that. However, I wouldn't re-distribute later it. I'd just use it for myself but I'll delete it whenever a legal copy became available. Also, There are still many songs you cannot buy. not to mention countless lost B-sides, wouldn't be heard at all if not by illegal means.

In your opinion, Why do people download songs illegally?

They know it's wrong but they do it anyway. Some people say no one wants to pay for the rising costs of CDs/DVDs...I believe people download songs illegally because it's easy and free. People are cheap. And they'd much rather spend their days in jail than have to pay for anything...Why pay $15 for a CD that I may only like a few songs on it when I can download those songs, and download other songs and burn a CD of music I like for free? Yet I know some people with decent wages who have never paid for a legal download and haven't bought an album in years...

Absolutely. I totally agree with you.

Why do so many people feel it is OK to do that?

Some people are mindless, I mean come on! You're getting the song for free but what happens as a result of that download? Do you really want your favorite band or artist to suffer as a result of their album not selling enough and it going on discount at the store because of it? They really need to think before they attempt to download.

Do you feel guilty if you illegally downloaded a song that was recorded for a charity or something like that?

    Without any doubt, Yes!

Do you illegally download songs from the internet?

Yes. I don't as much with my favourite bands unless I can't get a hold of their CDs, but if I can and do have enough money, I will buy their CDs. Otherwise I turn to downloading. I also don't like ordering certain CDs not available in shops over the internet, like Amazon or eBay, simply because I don't trust them. You can't always know what you're getting. And technically, buying CDs from those sites is just as bad as downloading them, because the artist who makes the CD isn't actually recieving the money. Why don't you just save that money for a time when you can actually buy a proper album?

Would you illegally download a song because it wasn't available legally?

    Yep.

In your opinion, Why do people download songs illegally? Why do so many people feel it
    is OK to do that?

Most people don't actually realise what they're doing. It goes over their heads and then then go all out to download as many as they can. But others just can't afford to buy CDs all the time. I don't judge those kinds of people, because it's not their fault, and I've also been in that position many times. But I hate it when people just can't be bothered to go out and buy the songs, especially if they can easily afford it.

Do you feel guilty if you illegally downloaded a song that was recorded for a charity or something like that?

Not really sure to be honest. Depends on it's availability through shops. But otherwise, yes. I would feel very guilty.

    -------

I have a question too. Like you said, so many people are downloading nowadays rather than actually buying the albums, so how long do you think it will be until CDs eventually stop being made, and you have to buy songs through the internet? Do you think that will ever happen? Do you think something will happen to stop downloading sites? Any other thoughts on that?

No, that's not gonna happen. Remember that there are over one million music store around the world. when you stop making CDs, all those music stores will be closed. I believe that a new method should be introduced that can please both the consumers and the sellers in the music market.

Do you think something will happen to stop downloading sites?

Unfortunately, It's obvious that nothing will happen to stop downloading sites. the music industry may be facing a crisis because of the number of people still illegally downloading music from the Internet. Seemingly, the problem has now grown so big that the numbers of people who download music from illegal file-sharing sites outnumber those using legal services. In fact, it is estimated that illegal networks are used three times as much as legal ones. I hate to say it but illegal downloading has gone way too far.

I really want to believe that something will happen to stop people from downloading music illegally, When they decide to stop doing that, illegal downloading and file sharing sites will be abandoned but people seem very happy to download music for free...>.>

What do you think of downloading songs illegally?

I don't support it if thats what you mean. Actually, I'm against it. The artists who worked sooo hard to create and produce the songs aren't getting paid for their work. Its like doing a job, but not being paid for it. Now, you could look at this like: "Yeah, but these people have a lot of money anyway... So i'm sure they won't mind if i get this without paying..." Well... I guess its in a way a little true, BUT you are pretty much stealing from your fav bands.

Do you illegally download songs from the internet?

No. The only free music I have ever got was when my friend sent me an album through hotmail. I don't know if thats illegal or what though... i really hope it ain't...

Would you illegally download a song because it wasn't available legally?

Ha lol... to be honest... Well, it would depend on the song. If I've heard the song, and love it, then I probably will. Then keep my fingers crossed that I don't get a trojan...

In your opinion, Why do people download songs illegally? Why do so many people feel it is OK to do that?

Erm... either because they don't have the money to buy the album from the shop, or because they can't get hold of the album anywhere.

Maybe this person lives in the middle of no-where, and can't get to a decent music shop?

Do you feel guilty if you illegally downloaded a song that was recorded for a charity or something like that?

Erm... I don't download music anyways, but if I did, then yeah - I would feel guilty.

Slinknot are, and always have been, total shit. Moving on.

What do you think of downloading songs illegally?

I only usually do it if the artist I am stealing from has made it and doesn't need my money. Others, I will buy on principle. You would not, for instance, catch me paying The White Stripes for new music, or Radiohead (if they wanted money). They've got way more than me. I also have no qualms about stealing music made by people who are now dead.

Do you illegally download songs from the internet?

I usually get my boyfriend to do it, because I'm not very good at it. And my internet is very very slow.

Would you illegally download a song because it wasn't available legally?

What the hell? Illegal music? If it was good enough, I suppose.

In your opinion, Why do people download songs illegally? Why do so many people feel it is OK to do that?

Because they don't have to move an inch to do it, and it is completely free. Nobody yells at you from your monitor about it. You just get what you want, when you want. It's achingly simple.

Do you feel guilty if you illegally downloaded a song that was recorded for a charity or something like that?

No, since charity songs are mostly mince, and if I liked it enough I'd buy it anyway for the apparent good cause.

What do you think of downloading songs illegally?

Personally, I don't really see anything wrong with it, especially if the band has made it already. if a band is struggling to get started, though, it just seems wrong. Also, it doesn't make much sense to pay 16-17 dollars for a CD that has maybe one or two good songs on it...

Do you illegally download songs from the internet?

Yes. I do it alot. Though lately, I more download older bands whose music is harder to accquire. If I really like and respect a band though (Disturbed, Godsmack, SOAD, Serj Tankian's Solo stuff), I will buy their music though. That's the only reason I don't have Disturbed Indestructable cd...can't afford it right now. I also download music, because most of the time, I Can't afford it, and I don't think I should be denied music, because I'm poor, lol

Would you illegally download a song because it wasn't available legally?

If the song was a good one, definitely

In your opinion, Why do people download songs illegally? Why do so many people feel it is OK to do that?

I think I explained that in my above answer, though I'll say it again. A lot of people can't afford the outrageous price of music these days (at least I can't, and neither can a good number of my friends) so we download. It's ok to do, IMO, because I wouldn't have much music otherwise.

Do you feel guilty if you illegally downloaded a song that was recorded for a charity or something like that?

Depends on what charity. Some charities I completely disagree with, others are cool though.

How long do you think it will be until CDs eventually stop being made, and you have to buy songs through the internet? Do you think that will ever happen?

It'll never happen. that'd shut down a huge industry!

Do you think something will happen to stop downloading sites?

I highly doubt it. It's been tried before.

What do you think of downloading songs illegally?

I'm not really a fan. I like to own my music, to have a hard copy of it, so I can, you know, caress it and stuff when I sleep. The only things I really download are live shows, and if you can find an artist like Les Claypool who allows you to tape their shows, there's nothing wrong with it, now is there? Even big bands like Rush are okay with taping as long as it's done non-professionally.

Do you illegally download songs from the internet?

Oops. Kinda answered that above. I don't use programs though, I only use torrent sites.

Would you illegally download a song because it wasn't available legally?

Actually, funny you mention that. I have two big examples of illegally downloading things because I couldn't get them any other way.

Firstly- Maudlin of the Well. If you don't know, Maudlin of the Well broke up some time ago, and Toby Driver admits that their CD's aren't even in print anymore. Sucks for someone like me, who had just gotten into them a little while ago. I went on Amazon, and the cheapest I found was like $50 for "Leaving your Body Map". **** that. So it was downloaded.

Secondly- Karp's self titled. Karp albums are extremely hard to get a hold of. I happened to luck out and find a copy of "Suplex" at a CD sale a while ago. Download'd.

In your opinion, Why do people download songs illegally? Why do so many people feel it is OK to do that?

    Lars Ulrich.

Do you feel guilty if you illegally downloaded a song that was recorded for a charity or something like that?

Songs recorded for charity suck. Have you heard "We are the World"? My God.
