It takes me an hour to get to school so I spend 2 hours a day in a car. I am sorry to hear that I thought my 2 hours was bad.
How long does it take you to get to work or school everyday? Do you walk, take the bus or metro or drive...or all of the above ?
I walk to the metro everyday at 5:15 am, arrive at 5:30 and catch the first metro at 5:42, 21 stops later I arrive at the bus stop at 6:16 and wait till the 6:27 bus arrives,I then get dropped off at the bus stop in front of work at 6:44. I work from 7:00 am to 5:00pm and my commute home is the same except I take the 6:08 bus instead of walking home from the metro.

I really can't complain about the commute to work. It's roughly 25 minutes one way, depending upon traffic flow, and it's all highway mileage so the gas lasts quite a while. The shifts themselves, on the other hand, are always changing...

My drive (yes that means not foot or bus) consists of about an hour drive in to Broken Arrow to drop of the kids, then its off to work which takes about another 15 minutes if that.
Coming home is a different story because I rarely come directly home after leaving work and picking up the kids.
Every other Friday I drive the kids to my dads house. This is almost a 2 hour round trip.
Not much more to say on the subject with the exception that it generally takes me 10-15 minutes just to hit a major road from where I live unless I want to go down into the actual city of Claremore which if going through that cluster of traffic lights will add 20 minutes and end up where I can get in 10.

I live right next to where I go to school, so it's about a 2-3 minute walk. I feel kind of lucky compared to everyone else who's posted. I've never had to commute to a place daily that was more than a 30 minute walk.
5 minute walk to the train station, 20-25 minute electric train into Wellington, and 20 minute walk, or ~7 minute bus up the hill to University. Time of day varies.
Walk ~8 minutes to work from home.
I don't live too far from school so it's usually just a 5 minute drive
I walk to the railway station here. I take the train. I walk from the railway station over there to campus.
All in all a little less than 1 hour.

Longest commute I've had was to college. Time varied on the day and such, but it usually took about 45mins. I can't even break down the journey because it was different every time - I had to walk to the bus stop, wait for/get the bus, take the bus to the road near my college, then walk around the corner to the college. The bus comes every 12mins.
There was this one time I got into college in 20mins. I was shocked. The bus came on time and there was no traffic, so the driver just shot up the roads. Longest it took me was about an hour and a half on a Monday morning, due to really heavy traffic - I think there'd been a big accident or something.
My work is a 35 minute walk away. I cut through the hospital. (I used to walk all the way around past the prison until a colleague showed me a quicker way.)
Otherwise it is a five minute drive away.

It takes me roughly 75-90 minutes to get to work. Roughly a three hour commute roundtrip commute overall. All of this is doing roughly 75-80 down the freeway, with about 5-10 minutes on a city/town/residential roads.
Weekends I wake up at 3am, out the door at 3:30, at work by 5, get out at 5pm, home by 6:30ish. Monday and Tuesday I'm up at 5:50, out the door at 6:30, work from 8-6, home by 7:30.

Well my commute to school is the longest. I live around Fort knox, and go to school in Louisville. It is roughly a 30 minute commute to school, not too bad, but it is tedious.
I used to live on base at Fort Knox, but recently moved to just outside of it. So my commute to the base is still like 5 minutes. My commute to McDonald's is about 10 minutes depending on traffic.
Overall it is not too bad.
Currently, it only takes about 20 minutes for me to get to work, since there's a bus stop right by my house, and my job is only about a block away from one of the stops.
I used to work somewhere else in OK, and it took an hour and two bus rides to get there. It was a fun job, though, and I didn't mind the getting up early part.
I only had those two jobs, and outside work I rarely go out. No car for me yet.

i feel quite fortunate to only have a 10 minute drive to work. its also nice that my son goes to school where i work at so i dont have to take an extra trip to drop him off at day care.

If traffic is good, I can get to my university between 15 to 30 minutes. If not, it will take me about an hour to drive there.
I work about 10 - 15 minutes walk away so its an easy mission to work the morns. I drop the kid off at school first so its about a half an hour round trip, if that
coming home i have to get her from the childcare place, but even then its only about 45 mins from work to there and then home
Work is about a 4 minute drive with traffic, 2.5 without.
School takes about 10 minutes each way.
Yeah I know, easy commute. It has downsides. In snowstorms and such I'm either the only one who has to stay (besides management, of course) or the first one to get called in when everyone else calls out precisely because I live so close. It can be quite irritating.

My drive to school usually takes me about half an hour or so, depending on traffic. Of course, on most days, that also entails another 10-minute bus ride to campus from the parking lot, as the place for commuters to park is a few miles away from the main campus. As far as work goes, it's less than a 10 minute drive from my house on most days, as I live rather close to my job.
WTF, SSJ4 Goku posted somewhere other than his journal?! What's the world coming to?!
Right now, I live about a five minute walk from my work. Literally, the school is right behind my house. I used to climb the fence, but not only is it wet right now, but that has also been the way that I've ripped several good pairs of pants. Back then, it took little to no time at all to get there.
At my last job, I had to drive to the other side of town to pick up the damned keys, then to the work place. This took about a half hour every day. If I just went straight to the work place, it would have been a 5 to 10 minute drive... Rather annoying. Typically, anyway; sometimes I had to drive to the next town over, which was about a half hour drive for me too. My other job was about 10 to 15 minutes away, depending on traffic. Anyhoo...
Wuv, Yer Mom
Leav house at 7:15, first bus into town center, get there about 7:25, wait 15 minutes for my next bus which take 30 minutes, get to other town center at around 8:10 then wait 5 minutes for next bus to next town center which take 15 minutes. Walk up a B***h of a hill =( then arrive at school at 8:40 =) then the same in reverse only different times.

Takes me 20 to drive to school, same going home, sometimes 15 if I'm lucky lol
If I'm just driving to work from home (halfway between school and home) it takes about 10. However, driving from school to work directly takes 15. Someones been messing with my time zones or something

I'm proud to say I do something unique compared to you guys. I bike to work. About 3 miles straight East. Only real downside I hate is we get some nasty winds they almost ALWAYS blow West, so riding to work is like going up a steep hill.
Other than that biking rules!
I used to bike to work! But that was when I worked three blocks away from my apartment. The 23 mile difference now kinda defeats the idea of cycling, as nice as it may have been.

It takes me anywhere from 25 to 45 minutes to get to work everyday, depending on stupidity. On a good day, traffic is moving and everyone's going about 70 on the highways. On a bad day, usually when it's overcast, because God only knows how clouds affect the road conditions, people go either 40 or 70.
My commute back is also similar, and largely dependent on when I leave the office, and when the sun's setting. I have to drive west, and if the sun's going down, it's a nightmare. The same people who do the same drive every single day still haven't figured out how to put on sunglasses to, yknow, shield their eyes from that giant freakin bright thing in the sky... so they all squint and go about 12mph.

Depending on the site I'm working I'll travel by car or train and it can take anywhere from between ten minutes and the better part of an hour. Usually that suits me great, but I have had the odd 14 hour shift roughly an hour away. If I have those multiple days in a row it means I only have 8 hours left over for everything else.
