What's your reason?

I'm just curious as to why people don't make more threads. I mean, I make a ton, and that is pretty much obvious, but I make a ton knowing that most of them won't spark up interesting conversation. I don't know which ones will take off and which will die, but I make them all the same. For the betterment of conversation and flow of information.
That's why I make threads, why don't you?

I don't really know what to make threads about. I get kind of lost on the site and don't think me making a lot of threads would be a good idea. ^^

Because I live a mostly reactionary existence on TFF these days. I check TFF for posts/threads of interest and not check TFF for what would I like to inform people about today. In addition, my goal is to inform generally and not entertain. The amount of material to inform is significantly less than entertain, especially after I run it through a worthless or pointless internal filter. If I feel it small, insignificant or just simply doesn't need to be said I'm not going to say it. That only changes when I'm really excited about something that I feel others might be as well.

So that is my reason. Create for purpose, which is generally to inform. That was the case when I joined as well. It was rare for me to create a thread. I just replied to existing threads to join a debate or answer a question someone had. I've done pretty good just doing that since I managed 6000 posts the first year I was here.

Because I like to enjoy the fruits of other people labors without having to rack my own brains to think of a thread topic and write out an opening post.

I have made quite a few over the time that I have been here, some go far while others are short lived. When I think of one that I would find amusing to myself I generally have it up with in the next day or so, I get side tracked easily (Kids, wife and work will generally do that).

I have a few more tricks up my sleeve at the moment so I might have to through a duce out there and let it run wild here pretty soon.

Maybe when I'm back to uni and protesting or something, I'll actually get worked up enough to make a good few threads.

One: I'm glad you seem to get my humor.
Two: I have never been persuaded to change my beliefs by a post.
Three: I have, however, had my scope widened by the things said by different people of the forum; that is a good thing.

Because I only come on TFF when I am bored for a couple of minutes and there are usually new topics to reply to. Plus I don't really have any ideas that are topic worthy in my opinion =]

Most of my ideas have already been taken in previous threads, or I simply can't think of an idea for a worthy discussion. Besides, it's more fun joining in a thread and adding my input, regardless if it moves the conversation to a higher level, or leaves it as it is.

As much as I'd love to contribute more to the community, I won't be held responsible spammed up threads.

Back in like '06, I used to make a lot of threads. I think that's where all my threads-and my ideas for said threads-went. I was more inspired back then; I was a moderator, I was writing a book, I was going to school...

I think a lot of times in the past, when I would make threads, they wouldn't get very many responses, so that has also been dissuasive for me Besides, like people have said, you make enough threads to make up for the rest of us being lazy. Take one for the team, man. Or five million. Anyhoo...

I dunno. I just don't make topics that often. When I do make them, they're based on what's currently on my mind and if I feel like seeing others opinions. Also, I think people should stop caring about what's been done..everything's gonna get repeated anyway. The topics never change, but we as human beings do, so our opinions may differ over the years. Like.."Oh look, another food topic.." Well, maybe you have a new taste in food now? That's what I mean. So I don't see why people should hesitate to make threads, just as long as the topic hasn't been made in awhile.
