Uh...

Even though this is The Final Fantasy Forums, it's not like we're gonna just talk about it 24/7 . I mean, if it was JUST Final Fantasy, wouldn't it be sorta...boring? All we'd see is 'Why is Laguna getting cramps' or 'Why does Cloud have spikey hair' without any other different discussion. I don't think this place would be that popular then too. Honestly, if I needed a board like that I'd just go to GameFAQs or something similar .

Hate to say this OWA and even though we are friends I dont agree wit you on this as I'm sure many people wont. By only posting about FF then a non-memeber or guest willnot think highly of this site so that will mean less members. Plus only talking about FF would get boring after awhile anyway so by having more then one topic to talk about in detail can help you to understand people and things better or think of them differently then what you did before. So thats why I believe posting about more then FF is a good thing for this site despite its name.

Well, the fact that we have a general discussion forum, clubs forum and all sorts of other general stuff never affects the final fantasy discussion boards, so I don't see why it's a problem.

Pretty much every site with forums has a General Chat forum, be it an FF site or otherwise. Having subject areas other than the main area of the site always helps for forums' activity. ALWAYS. More activity means more people can post in the Final Fantasy section.
Without General Chat, we'd have significantly less members, and the Final Fantasy section would be less active. Fact.

I agree with everyone above me. Sure we discuss FF topics, but that's not all we have to offer here. Apart from being a Final Fantasy board, we have clubs, RPG sections, Journal/Blog, Literature, General Chat, Humor/Word Game section, etc. If you notice the FF section has so many topics in each of their respective forums/sub forums including Kingdom Hearts. Also I agree with Neo that maybe without a General Chat section we would have less the number of members that we have now. Almost everyone here loves Final Fantasy but that doesn't mean we want to talk about it all the time. We like to talk about life, current events, recent member happenings, etc. It would be kinda boring if we just talk about FF 24/7/365 wouldn't it? I think if you stick around here long enough you'll come to understand what were getting at.

The thing that all of us got in common is that we like FF, so that will always be there, but besides that nothing wrong to talk about other stuff...like molesting small children <3 oops I didn't say that out loud did I?

This site hardly represents Final Fantasy for me anymore. In fact, I usually forget that's what it was created for, as I usually ignore those forums that are dedicated to the games and come straight down here to general chat. Then I think about it: "The... Final Fantasy. Oh yeah. That was that series of RPG games I played a few years back, and part of the reason I ended up here." I don't regularly play those games, so they're not regularly on my mind anymore. The most recent one I've played was FFXII (actually X a little bit before that, too) but that was last Summer. Plus, a lot of the stuff I would want to talk about would probably be spoilers.

So yeah. General Chat is here for when we run out of things to talk about on the FF's. And also when we want to be social or relate to each other on any level at all that doesn't involve an RPG. I appreciate its existence. Anyhoo...

There are forums in the forums where you can talk about nothing but FF, so you shouldn't be too upset. Every place has to have sections for normal chat and just plain goofing off. But seriously, chill out. There are lots of places for you to discuss the FF games and things related, so there isn't really a problem.

I do forget too sometimes this is an FF forum as well. There's more to this forum then Final Fantasy. As much as I love the series, there's more things in my life then just FF alone. It is what lead me to this forum back in 06 but also if it wasn't for the people here that I had met then I would've have left and never came back. Its good to talk to people that like FF as I do but its also good to talk about other stuff then just Final Fantasy alone.

There are sites that do have only Final Fantasy forums. But I doubt that they are as active and as social as TFF or forums like this one.

People join for Final Fantasy and get more than that. Is that not a good thing in the long run? It attracts people to come back.

P.S Fishie's last paragraph is exactly right. Nowhere with just FF is as active. People tire of the same conversations over games after a while.

If you want JUST Final Fantasy, go join a forum with just FF. Makes sense.

Exactly. I originally came here when I was playing Final Fantasy X [I was actually looking for a Seymour Guado shrine and stumbled apon it] and found alot of good help.

Stuck around after that though, because I found that there was alot of other valuable conversation around and I met a bunch of people that are now some of my best friends in the world.

I like the fact that I can stay away from kids talking about games, and concentrate on talking about subjects I find far more interesting these days. It's just more interesting.

You're sure behind the times, aren't you ? Almost every Final Fantasy forum that I've visited were mostly active in the General Discussion chats. EVERY board has a General section for all non-FF stuff, because some of us actually have other things to talk about besides Final Fantasy.

Honestly, this isn't even close to being a FF based forum. I'm not criticising, believe me, but with the depth of the whole RP section, the General Chat, the Journals, and even the Literature sections, they probably total 4 times the FF section posts. Suffice to say, members do prefer posting pictures of themselves like conceited people :lol, rather than discussing Final Fantasy...

How is this not an FF based forum exactly? Have you seen other forums? General Chat style topics and forums are always the most popular regardless of what the forum is based on. Intended content usually only helps people find the forum. They learn what they wanted to learn and discuss until they're sick of talking about the topic, then begin to socialize and make friends. Boom, regulars are created. It's still a FF based forum.

Yea it is a final fantasy forum but all forums that have a main focus also have other boards where you can go off topic,which is kind of fun. sometimes talking about ff 24/7 gets boring,and if thats all this forum was there would just be repeat discussions and not as many active members also you get to know other members better and become "friends" when there are off topic threads.

Like everybody says, it is much more interesting to have a variation of topics to talk about. I find that General Chat in particular shows everyone's views and personalities- adds some human into the blocks of text! I've met some great people on these forums who i've goten to know first through the GC forum and later on MSN- its builds friendships.

Also, if you've been on the forums for at least a few months, you will notice that nearly every single thread about Final Fantasy (if not all of them) is repeated again and again. I don't know how many times i've seen "hoos ur favrit carikter", so to be honest, the variety here is what keeps people on the boards.

Besides, this forum would lose its awesomeness (I cannot find another word. Shoot). Isn't it fun to talk about whatver you want, whenever you want? Kid, this is the internet!
