I'll ****ing do it!
I'll admit, I wasn't the biggest Block fan at first, but the guy has a way of growing on you. I'm definitely going to be jumping on the Pro-Block bandwagon.

It is ironic in that she seems to think that Block thinks the internet is serious business, when he doesn't seem to at all, and she is, in fact, acting much more like the internet is "serious business" than he is right now. Of course, if you want to be really anal about the word "irony" or "ironic," it might not specifically fit the true use of the word. But oh well. Anyhoo...

Your actions, and I mean that in general rather than individually as some staff seem either fair or cool, either I'm fine with.
My bitching is because usually you're (general sense once again) really lax about shit but occasionally someone just gets jumped on even if their behaviour isn't all that bad. Either be completely ****ing lax with everyone (I'd prefer that) or be Nazis to everyone. And then there's the occasional censorship to suit a mod's agenda rather than the the forum rules, while rarer it is pretty lame.Quote:
If we are lax on the rules, we get bitched at. If we turn into rule Nazi's, we get bitched at. There is no happy medium. I guess we could just be stuck up dicks all the time.
Actions speak louder to me than words and by extenstion excuses. I've said it before elsewhere, but there's a reason I don't try to become a mod/admin and that's because I think I too might follow my own agenda from time to time which isn't cool when in power.Quote:
Just because we don't catch everything or you don't see everything that happens does not mean we don't take the rules seriously.
It's a loose / loose situation and most of the staff gets that. We know we can't please all the people all the time. In my opinion; we do what we need to when needed. We issue punishment as we deem fit and where deserved.
Taco, I think the word you were looking for is hypocritical. But most of us get that way at times anyways so whatevs.
As I think I read someone say, Block = Traffic/Activity/Whatever and is therefore good for the forums. You don't need to be a master of mathematics to work that one out.

What is it about forum drama that makes it so irresistible even after all these years, I wonder?

I'm definitely pro block.
It may be the simplest answer, but its the answer outside the box that we truthfully seek.

Choosing to use 'ironic' correctly isn't being anal. It's using the word properly. Like, as per its definition and stuff.
Anyway, I said internet is Serious Business because I knew someone would pick up on what I said and be Serious about it. I reserve the right to be annoyed by the endless stream of pictures that have become TFF fashion. I have yet to be amused by any of them. And what's wrong with a one-liner if it's all I have to say about the subject at hand?
TFF is my procrastination, as I've said before. Sometimes things get interesting in ID, but for the most part, I'm here to waste my time. I can be choosy about what I want my time to be wasted by.
None of this means that I think Block is a bad person. He can do as he pleases. I'm just not a fan of the photos.
...I think I just became Internet Serious, I must evacuate now.
It's my party and I'll spam if I want to?
You would http://geekwhisperin.files.wordpress...09/05/spam.jpg too if it happened to you?
...I am lost now. I've had spam in my sig for ages. It's nice that the spam is getting the recognition it deserves. Picture appropriate.
Well then, give some proper examples of the use of the word "irony" or "ironic" then, jackasses :P I don't think my use was that far off. Although I think Silver is probably correct in his suggestion of what word would have fit better. Also, I wasn't being "serious business" in my reply to you; I was laughing at you. But nice try. Also, going on a multi-paragraph post to describe why you don't care, only to realize at the end that you do at the end... that's pretty awesome. (I mean you must to some degree, or else you wouldn't have responded again. Can't let anyone else get the last word, right? ;)) Anyhoo...

That's not irony. That's hypocrisy. Why is it so many people have trouble with this word? Coincidences and hypocrisies are not ironic. Don't make Pete post more Alanis Morisette lyrics because she doesn't know how to use the word either. Isn't it ironic? No.
Irony is incarcerating person X to protect person Y and then having person Y die specifically because you incarcerated person X.
Irony is having suicidal person X as the only one to have survived a natural disaster.
Irony is that episode of the Twilight Zone in which the main character is the last person alive and therefore finally has enough free time to read his books, but then whose glasses break.
Irony is not two people that know each other randomly going to the same restaurant.
Irony is not running up to someone to tell him or her not to run.
Edit: Actually, I'm not sure I'd count the Twilight Zone one. That one's kind of iffy. That's closer to Murphy's Law. If it happened as a result of something the man did to gain that free time, then we'd be talking.
You guys really made me do it.
And really, if we're all gonna go posting full paragraphs, we may as well take this down to ID
Way to go, Telegraph. You made him do it. But at least that serves as a perfect example of what is not ironic. It also serves as an example of what talent is not.
This is an interesting strategy. Years after the removal of the spam forum, the Block faction is retaliating by steadily turning GC into a de facto spam forum. Political genius.Quote:

The Alanis song could very well be ironic. Isn't it ironic that a song called Ironic contains no actual irony (or talent- good call, Jin!)?
Don't ya think?
Actually Ironic - CollegeHumor video
Actual irony! And a hotter girl!
No, it's inaccurate and/or deceitful.Quote:

I think I just set up a "see what I did there?"
I didn't even get the reference the first time, somehow, even though that's the classic example people complain about. But isn't Govinda's description of Block thinking the internet is "serious business" ironic, when he seems to think the exact opposite? I have read the definition. I know.
You seem annoyed, Jin. Does it really other you that much? Then let's fight. I will fly out there to Canada land and we will throw down in the street, Mr. Jin. It's on. Anyhoo...
Wuv, Yer Mom
Telegraph, for the record, is it on like this gent?
http://old-wizard.com/wp-content/upl...bros_brawl.jpg
And Jin, if I set anything up, I totally didn't intend to. It's Friday and my brain is pretty fried, so I won't take credit for being more clever than I intended.
Being on like Paul Simon just doesn't have the ring to it though.
But, that would be ironic!
Not you, Pete. I set something up unintentionally. I assumed you would have noticed though.
Time for ID style quoting!
I'll say again: no. That's just being wrong.Quote:

I think in a true fun sense everyone should drink a forty and smoke a blunt and come on to the forum and spam. maybe it would make it a little more entertaining. I myself do this proactively.
Since when did making forums fun become illegal? hell maybe the chosen should start back up to remind everyone what fun really is....
The mods are holding us normal members down. all for their secret sense of power and satisfaction that they are in charge. **** mods, **** them in their mod asses without lube. The dictionary I read is infallible. It's the free online one. And I don't care if I'm wrong; I am just going to insist that I am right, because I think it probably annoys you. Isn't that ironic? Anyhoo...
