    Wearing your own band shirt

So I created a t-shirt for my bandmates and began to think how weird we'd look if we wore the same shirt (with different colors) on stage. I kind of regret making one in the first place, but they've been egging me for months! What do you guys think? Would you wear your own band shirt?

Re: Wearing your own band shirt

Haha I totally understand. I've got a shirt that I sell people at shows.... and I've worn it AT a show before.. but then just wearing it around town and stuff? So awkward, in my mind. I can't make myself do it. I wear it at home a lot... it's a comfy shirt... but it's got my goddamn name on it. AH!

That said, wear your band shirt to your show, come the hell on. And if it's a band name and not your actual name, go for it everywhere.
    Curious?

Re: Wearing your own band shirt

I wouldn't particularly wear my own bands shirt to my own show, at least not with everyone in the band at the same time. Maybe one guy wears his at each individual show, because some bands do that. Then again I don't wear any bands shirt when I go to THEIR show. That's just me though.

On the other hand, if you wear them out, people may ask about it, and you can advertise.

Re: Wearing your own band shirt

The whole band wearing the same shirt on stage seems lame, in my opinion.

It also kind of depends on what the shirt is. It would be cool to wear the shirt on stage if it had some sort of design or drawing or logo on it that could be recognised, rather than just the name.

As for off stage, I suppose some people would think it's weird, but **** 'em.

Soon it won't just be Azuteor wearing Sex Bob-omb t-shirts. It'll be the cool kids, too.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it if worn casually day to day, but I wouldn't have the band wear it as a 'uniform' onstage

Re: Wearing your own band shirt

    Thanks for all the input.

I liked the idea of having the front man just wearing the shirt. I guess since it serves the purpose of saying who we are. Hopefully they all don't wear it at the same time at their school. Talk about awkward.

Those bands could get away with it because of their popularity though. I do think it's a little weird to wear a shirt that has your face on it.

Why not? I figured it make the band feel good that someone is wearing their merch. I read that it's an unspoken rule when going to concerts. Haha.

Re: Wearing your own band shirt

Why would it be cool for a popular band to wear their tshirt, but a band who needs the publicity can't wear their shirts or its awkward? The whole point of wearing something on your shirt is so you can advertise it, even if its an adidas logo or a Nike logo.

Re: Wearing your own band shirt

I wouldn't have a problem wearing it casually in public and like you said shirts are a good way of advertising something. It's just that on stage, you wouldn't wear the band shirt-- assuming the people in the audience already know who you are or you've run out of clothing to wear. Aside from that, I understand your argument.

Re: Wearing your own band shirt

I guess it's kinda like listening to your own music and rocking out to it. It's a little lame, haha. I think it makes it more of a hobby than something serious.

As for the t-shirts... on stage, bands tend to have a theme to them. Go with the type of band you are, and as much as I hate the word, "stereotype" it. As long as you're not wearing band t-shirts for other bands, you're set.

Also, wear it around town! Most likely, no one will notice or even care lol.
