I talk to my cat now and then, sometimes I'll say " sup cat?" and he'll look at me and walk over and rub up on me. He follows me around waiting for me to say something. Sometimes when the rabbit cries, Izzy will go over to it and start whispering to it...eventually it'll stop, I don't think I wanna know what they "talk" about
I think it's perfectly normal to talk to your pets. I couldn't imagine myself never saying a word to my dog.
Of course I talk to my dog. He's a ***** bastard and he needs to be told so on a regular basis. Hell the fat goof ball even has sort of an Asian look to him.
He hasn't quite got down the bark at and eat Mormon missionaries thing but hey he's workin on it.
I used to talk to my two dogs when they were alive. I didn't have the social popular life my twin had back in school. so i used to talk to them while we sat down and watched tv or were outside together. or id tell them about crap that happened in comics. or make social commentary on the human race, and how lucky they are that they were not human. then hawkeye would just bury his nose into his crotch and lay down next to my leg.
i miss them alot.
i will talk to anything living or just an inanimate object. its one of the many things that freaks people out at school.
When I stare at my fish, they do that blub blub thing in my face. I telepathically talk to my fish.
I talk to my dog... and when I' done he just sits there and looks dumb at me xP
I always talk to my cats. They know their names, and will respond to them. They will often come to thier names unless they're being stubborn (and one of them is a very "I do what I want" kind of cat). Ozzy will often walk up to you and do a special mew which he only uses for greeting. He headbuts as a sign of greeting and affection too, which I respond to. I have been known to have full-blown conversations with my cats, which of course are rather one-sided. Haha, I think I probably will live as the stereotype of "crazy cat lady" being single forever and having fuzzy moggies as my best friends! Haha!
I used to have a piranha called Chunky that used to "dance". I would wiggle up and down by his tank and he'd copy. I sometimes talk to the snake, the gecko, or some of the fish we have now. Not as much as I do with the cats though.
I talk to my cat all the time when I pet her. Its just a affection thing and I do not know if she can understand me or not. But she purrs and gets hair all over me and its just cute. It doesn't seem silly to me to talk to your pet. It just seems natural. When she walks into my room and sniffs around I always ask.
Hey Ginger, what are you doing?
And because I always sound like I'm drunk when I talk (gee thanks Kristen!) I think that when my cat can't see me she knows its me when I talk because I sound so much different then anyone else in the house.
I talk to my dog all the time and I think she understands me, considering that even things like "get out of my room" without a tone is followed. Plus I'm not crazy, old, or female. I think people talk to their pets so they can talk out their feelings without the other person being an @$$wipe about it(at least that's what started me, and it stuck)
I actually think it would be pretty ABNORMAL not to talk to your pets. I've had cats for a long time, and i talk to each and every one of them, sometimes having one sided conversations, lol. I also used to talk to my cat who was deaf. That was a bit wierd, lol. What does it say when you know a cat cant understand you, and even if it could it cant hear you! I still talk to her, even though she passed away a month ago. I figure she has to be able to hear now.
