Do men want intimacy more than women?

Would they say it if it weren't true? I was watching a show yesterday that told the whole world that men do not want sex more than women. In fact we are both pretty equal when it comes to wanting to become intimate. Do any of you buy this? Woman sometimes see men as sex hounding dogs always out to get one thing....is it possible that it was just society planting this in our heads? As a former sex hounding dog; I would like to know. :-)

I especially want to hear from the guys on this. How often do you try to encourage intimacy from the opposite sex?

Men have more need for the physical act than women. It's nature. Theoretically, a woman only has to have sex once to get pregnant and 'create' new human beings, whereas a guy should want to impregnate as much women as possible. That's a purely biological appraoch of course.

I think men have more hormonal urges and needs than women in general. But what we actually do or want is not simply based on what nature wants you to do.

Whether men or women want to be more intimate than the other sex depends on a lot of factors. There's just so much that influences our behaviour, certainly when it comes to sex and intimacy with the opposite sex.

There's so many aspects of sexuality, intimacy, love, human relations. So I guess it really depends on what you mean by wanting/needing/responding to intimacy more than someone else.

I think in the current state of Western society, with emancipation and all, both men and women are 'wanting' intimacy.

I think this is true, to a degree.
Men DO have the urges biologically within them to 'spread the seed' as it were. Woman can only have one pregnancy at a time. This would make woman want it just as bad until they are pregnant, surely. I mean, womens genes can't be so different that we don't want to repopulate. If we are talking psychologically, we want to reproduce just as much as men. This would make us want sex just as much as men. The cure for us would be to fall pregnant, thereby we produce different needs. This causes us to have cravings, urges and so on. Men don't have this so they'd want sex even when their partner is pregnant.

Like I said, this is true to a degree. In modern society do we not have tablets, injections and implants to stop women getting pregnant? We also have the various forms of other, more short-term, contraception. This would surely lead women to want sex just as much as men, wouldn't it?

I know myself and others on here certainly like sex. Why, I was having a conversation last night with one of my dear TFF friends about the size of her boyfriends penis. So, as my conclusion, I think that naturally women are not as sexually demanding as men. Due to modern medicine, however, I believe we want it just as much. Just look at the girls in your home city on a Friday night. They don't wear belts for skirts so they can pee easily, I can tell you.

I also think the reason why women hide their sexual desires, may be to uphold the "ladylike" image, because once a woman expresses her desire to have sex too often then they are considered "sluts".

I agree with this one. I've heard some of my wife's friends talk in public about how some guy is a sex-hound or pig or whatnot, but then in private talk to each other LIKE they were a bunch of guys. The thing about women is they like to turn every situation into a "women are better than men" scenario, so while men are open and up front about what they want, women pretend they're different so they can have the upper hand later...in an argument or debate or protest...or whatever.

I think it depends on the person.

It's a human instinct to want to have sex when you hit that particular age when the hormones start buzzing, but I don't think men need/want/desire sex more than women, or vice versa. Women tend to mature faster than men, so maybe that's a factor. I think it's down to personalities, and what we might need/want/desire as an individual. Sometimes the people around us might influence it, but I hope you get what I mean.

The point is that I think woman don't show it as much as men for a reason. They still want it just as much, or thats what I think anyway.

When that would happen to me when I was single, I'd call the bluff everytime and stop acting like I'm persuing the girl. That's when THEY freak out and go "How come you don't want me anymore? What's wrong with me????????????" and go crazy.

It can be played both ways, and I hate women who do this. I dunno why more guys don't just do it right back. It's a silly game.


That being said let's get back on topic. I don't think it depends on the gender. It has more to do with personality, I think. I know some guys who would be fine never having sex and just fappin it. I also know a friend who's girlfriend never wants to have sex. They do it like once a year.

Yeah. The guy is a really big bitch when it comes to shit like that too, but I love him. He's a kinda geeky engineering major dude. Something might have happened to traumatize her in her past but that's rude to ask about.

They seem very happy though. He really loves her and is totally willing to overlook the fact that she doesn't really like sex.

I really don't agree it's the ONLY thing that separates your significant other from your friends, but it's a big part of it.

I think that's really true. I think both genders have a desire to be loved, in both a physical and emotional sense, and I think it's pretty much averages out so that it's an equal statement. Like stated before, it does really depend on the type of person you are and what you want. Hormones have a lot to do with it, too.

I've never been pregnant before, so I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard that when a lady gets pregnant, all her hormones go into overdrive (at some point) and she can get really amorous.

I'm glad that there's a more open approach to talking about sexuality now-adays. Can you imagine living in like the 1950's or something, when people expected to be more reserved about this kind of stuff? Thank God the 60's came along and totally turned that idea on it's head.

Men would find it to their advantage 2 figure out how to hide it better. I married the only guy in the world to tell me to "wait", and to this day he is a G-damn T&A tease and I find it so alluring. ^Ditto; Uber ditto. Seeing as being intimate is literally one of the only thing that separates your friends from your significant other. Not wanting to share yourself with your SO in that very special private way is odd to say the least. I have to wonder if they are happy with one another. If they are good for them, but.....weird.

In previous relationships I was always wanting sex a lot more than my partners. Or, at least, I was the one initiating it. In my current, my girlfriend's libido puts mine to ****ing shame. I can't even keep up.

Overall, though, I find women are less accepting to sex than men. I have plenty of friends who don't have sex often because their partners don't want it as much as they do, though I honestly attribute that to sexual incompatibility.

People, as a race, are wired for sex, moreso in this generation than in any previous. It's embedded in our personalities at their roots, and it's the same for every living mammal capable of sex. I think women just get.... complacent more often than guys. We're less picky about what we're sticking our dicks into. Honestly if a girl doesn't want sex often, she's probably just not happy in the relationship.

That's my take, at least. It's always been that way for my past relationships, once the sex gets less enjoyable and/or infrequent, the relationship begins to die off.

I've never found a boyfriend who had a sex drive remotely near mine. Although my doctor thinks it's a legitimate hormonal problem. xD I end up masturbating at least five times a day on average due to horniness.

My fiance, on the other hand... Is nowhere near as sexual as me. We're happy, but he's definitely the least sexual guy I've been with.

I think it's different for everybody. On average I'd say I've probably met more men who are overly sexual than women, but there are exceptions to it both ways.

Both genders have the capacity to be animals or corpses about it. Just depends on the individual. I've seen girls who are practically dry humping a guy while they just stand there not engaging. And on the other hand I've seen guys who don't know the meaning no (The next step leads to a statutory charge) while she isn't the least bit down for it.

Some people want theirs and others seem more when the mood strikes them. People grow up with a notion of how guys always want their jollies and girls are as well behaved as a saint. Genrally I would say men want more intamacy than women, although again it differs from person to person. Sometimes i'm like a rabid animal, other times i'm at a complete off and won't even let my boyfriend try to arouse me. Either way I won't have sex outside a relationship. I tend to be more hormonal during spring and summer. My boyfriend often picks bad times to get aroused- its normally first thing in the morning and late at night- when i'm tired, hungry or both. NOTHING comes before food and sleep for me!

Haha yeah... That was a problem for me. Protip: when I am tired/stressed out trying to get a project done, that is not the time to engage me. It doesn't mean I find my partner unattractive or that I hate sex, it means I'm tired/stressed out over a project. I think I can speak for members of either gender when I say: Don't take it personally.

I think society trains us to think a lot of things about either gender. Doesn't mean it's at all reliable.

I think it depends on the person.
I like a little intimacy, I'm a one woman kind of guy and I feel there's something to that.
Others I know think the same way, but then you always get a ton of guys who think differently.
